When we landed in Lake Oswego I had high hopes of finding a stellar sushi spot given the proximity to the coast and Portland as well. To say we’ve been underwhelmed by the quality of sushi we’ve found would be an understatement. Never mind some sushi chefs’ unwillingness to create handrolls off menu. Show me some creativity! But back to Hero — All in all, we found Hero to be a wonderful place with a creative menu and pleasant service. They didn’t wow me enough to make me crave their sushi but when in the mood, they fill the need nicely.

Stopped here for lunch after studying and had a roll lunch special with spicy tuna and shrimp tempura. It was enough food and delicious. Staff was very polite and service with fast. I will definitely come in again and try some more rolls!

The service was so-so and in a nearly empty restaurant we were sat right next to another group and the door. The sushi was definitely sub-par. Kani means fake crab(FYI) and there was plenty of the stuff. The quality wasn’t high and there wasn’t much thought put into the rolls. I suggest finding a different place if you’re craving sushi. On the other hand, I had the sea bass with truffle mashed potatoes and miso glaze. A bit of an odd combo, but pretty good. Sad that it only came with 2 spears of asparagus.(Really?! Two?!)

I don’t really understand the high ratings for this place but I was curious about this new place and wanted to try it. The menu looked good online but I was sorely disappointed after trying the real thing. The prices are high, comparable to Sinju sushi at Bridgeport but the food was not worth the price. I ordered the standard teri chicken and I got whopping 3 small pieces for $ 18 with no salad/soup or rice. It was literally like 5 – 10 bites. The rice was dry/crunchy and I didn’t like the sweet potato side. The other side was ok with a little bit of mushrooms which I enjoyed but it was a very small amount. I also ordered a cali roll and it was just the plain stick variety. My gf had a nice roll with fresh salmon and tempura but it was pricey(almost as much as the chicken). There are many better places close to here for japanese food that are either just as fancy or has better/more food for your money. I don’t think I’ll be coming back here.

I’m rarely around Lake Oswego but this place was a lucky find. The restaurant is modern but casual enough to walk in with clean jeans and a t-shirt(my usual attire). Our waitress was attentive and the menu had a lot more options than I thought– ranging from interesting appetizers, sushi rolls, noodles and special fish dishes. I tend to over order because I like to pretend I’m a baller when hungry. So I started off with the popular bulgogi egg rolls which were really flavorful. It’s a fusion of Korean fillings dipped in a mild cajun sauce. Yummm. There was this kobe beef appetizer where they bring out a scorching hot rock and you cook the thin slices of kobe on it. Pretty cool since it sears in seconds and comes with a delicious dipping sauce. I ordered a few sushi rolls where the one with thin slice of beef was banging good(I forgot the name but your waiter will know). The chicken noodle soup is comparable to chicken phở so I liked the texture. The best dish I had at Hero was their fish and potato special. I don’t think I got the name of the fish but it was cooked to perfection– moist and flakey. The overall presentation of the dish was beautiful. Lastly I had the cheesecake with berry sauce and that capped my stomach to it’s max. I was a happy customer.

Food is fine but the service is HORRIBLE. I went with 4 peeps from work for lunch, it took almost 10 minutes to give us to get our check, then another 10 minutes to cash out. It was terrible… Hour and a half lunch that should have been a 45 minute lunch. Don’t eat here if you’re looking for a quick lunch… Nothing quick about it. Service absolutely blows.

A friend and I had a nice dinner here recently. It was mid-week and so was not very crowded. The waitstaff was excellent, just enough attention but not too much. Our waiter was also really helpful with advice. A+. I tried a number of nigiri options but the centerpiece was a fresh Japanese scallop sashimi. It was amazing and had a wonderful presentation, though it was a bit pricey. Also tried the Kruse roll which was excellent. I’m definitely going back.

Very good sushi. Excellent service. Nice, simple décor. Good sake selection. This is a good addition to the south metro dining scene.

Best sushi in Lake Oswego… Better than Momo, Go Fish, Kurata, and it seems they want to make a genuine go of having a killer sushi place in Lake Oswego. Come here. It’s new — but they’re figuring it out. All locals — please support! We need to help them keep this place! Feels more like they’re much closer to a NW Bamboo Sushi type in Lake Oswego vs a Mio Sushi chain. Definitely better than Mio… Great fish(and wide selections of)!

This place is a little disappointing in a few different ways in my opinion. Value and quality are the two most obvious ones. I went during lunch on a Monday and ordered salmon sashimi. It was very tasty and not quite reasonably priced at $ 5 for two pieces. I also had the lunch special that included miso soup, salad, a California roll with krab instead of crab, and chicken teriyaki. I was happy to find they used unprocessed chicken that was moist and flavorful. The miso was nothing special and the salad was fine. Overall, the place is decent, but Momo’s is a much better option in the Lake Oswego area.

Wow. We cannot say enough positive about this place. Hands down, the best sushi I’ve ever had. I’ve been to sinju sushi, they were good, but over priced and not really worth it. Everything tasted so good and fresh. Our waiter was attentive, the food, oh gosh. It was so good. We cannot wait to get back.

Amazing coupon for amazing food. We had the most wonderful server as well. We ordered a good pile of food and he recommended their bulgogi beef Spring rolls… we said sure why not. Oh dear lord… one of the tastiest things I have had at a restaurant ever… they are amazing. It is about time Lake Oswego got a decent sushi place — I will be eating here a lot with the lovely décor, wonderful service and excellent food at a very reasonable price.

Came here last week during the weekday with some friends and my girl. It was around 8pm and there wasn’t any waiting time at all. It was nice weather so we sat outside on the patio which had a good sized table for all 5 of us. To start I ordered the Korean beef egg roll which had good flavor and an even better dipping sauce. The next thing I ordered was the New Philly Roll which was delicious! It’s a new take on the Philly roll that has Kobe beef on top which is really unique and adds a great flavor to it! If you like rolls you gotta try that! We also ordered for the table the sliced Kobe Beef where you cook it on a hot stone which was really fun and yummy. All in all this was a delicious dining experience. Totally recommend this place and I’m coming back for sure!

I’ve been here twice — once on my personal time and once as a work lunch. I had some nigiri and the eel roll. Octopus nigiri was chewier than I prefer, but overall it was a fine lunch. I firmly put it in the category of «I would eat here if someone else was buying». When work lunch rolled around, someone suggested going here and I was game. The four of us ordered a fair bit of food and the reaction post-lunch from all of us was«that was. interesting, I guess. Bland.» We got a couple other appetizer type dishes, but I honestly don’t remember what they were. We usually make a point to order enough so that we finish everything, but all of us had food left and not due to ordering too much. * Salmon Carpaccio — Seared with hot oil, served raw(after searing?), some pieces were warm and some were cold. * Pork Ramen — It wasn’t terribly flavorful, but it was edible. * Salmon & chicken teriyaki lunch(respectively) — They provide chopsticks to eat the two cuts of meat. Each piece of meat was about the size of an average woman’s fist, so my coworkers had to kind of «cut» it apart with their chopsticks. * Lake Oswego roll — we subbed in real crab and it tasted very bland. My real beef — pun not intended — is the fact they serve«Kobe beef». Kobe beef is imported in extremely tiny amounts to the U.S. It is not something you put in a $ 15 teriyaki entrée because actual Kobe beef is $ 200+ for a single steak.

Went in today for dinner and it was very busy for a new one. Service was little slow but they gave us great service. Food was great and the variety was awesome. Can’t wait for them to settle down and have full sake menu as well. Lake Oswego needed this sushi place. Delicious kobe beefs and appetizers on top of sushi. Definitely coming back with friends and family!

Best sushi restaurant in Lake Oswego so far! We’ve started with Beets salad and Hot rock which comes with sliced Kobe beef and a dipping sauce. You put the meat on the rock and it cooks on the stone! Lake Oswego roll tastes super light but lots of flavor from mango salsa they put on top. THEBESTPART was our entrée which was Miso Sea Bass. MUSTTRY!

I work in the area so decided to try. Not disappointed! I have a «bento» plate, came with Cali rolls, a WHOLE chicken Teriyaki breast, and instead of «salad» I asked for white rice. Then I got edamame, good! The chicken on the plate was basically a whole breast, which I loved but it was a lot. The teriyaki sauce was very good. Not your average teriyaki sauce though. The California rolls were very good! Edamame was good not much to them. Sat outside very nice and shaded. Food came quick enough they did have to cook it so. Checked on me enough and refilled my water! A+!!

Awesome new sushi place with a very nice interior and quality ingredients! Also with a full sake menu, cocktails, beer, and wine. A must try if you live in the greater Portland area.
