City of Lake Oswego

98% of the time they’re under staffed, rude, intelligible, and impatient. I cannot accept that that’s the way of all post offices, but in the case of this one it’s worth it to spend the money to ship UPS or Fedex.

Lake Oswego is located primarily in Clackamas County with small portions extending into neighboring Multnomah and Washington counties. It’s a short drive South of Portland and has a well-​to-​do reputation. My Son goes to school near here, so I have a chance to see for myself on a fairly regular basis.

Poor Lake Oswego. Snubbed by so many. What I really think is that some people are jealous of you.
Who wouldn’t want to live in a nice, safe, orderly community with fancy restaurants, high-​end boutiques, statues/​art, beautiful flower gardens in public areas, and hanging baskets adorning every lamp post? Sounds a little utopian doesn’t it?
Well, as lovely as Lake Oswego is, as wonderful and pedestrian friendly as the downtown is, maybe I wouldn’t want to live there. Frankly, I prefer bit more diversity in my surroundings, thus I find myself living in downtown Portland.
I do enjoy visiting you Lake Oswego. My best friend lives there. Your liquor store always has the little miniature vodkas I can’t find elsewhere. My favorite nail salon is in Lake Oswego, as is one of my favorite consignment shops. You see, I have several reasons to visit you.
I’m not jealous. I’m happy for you folks. You have a lovely, albeit, somewhat Stepfordesque city. I’ll visit again soon. Air kiss kiss.
Review # 108 — PDXYelp 100 challenge

I will admit, Lake Oswego is beautiful. I live 5 min. from school (which was 100% the reason I moved here), walking distance from Tryon Creek Park, and a quick 5 min. drive to the lake. The air is clean, streets swept, and the crime rate is relatively low from my understanding.
HOWEVER. The residents here absolutely bring it down several notches. If you want to know how the 1% lives, thinks, congregates, move here. It is like a Great Gatsby novel come to life for busybody retirees, encased in modernity. If you want to see a cultural, suburban, wasteland, converse (or in our case, try to avoid while they chase you down for walking on «their» side of the street) with self-​righteous, incredulous people who will also literally yell at you for parking next to them because they are too fat to get in their own cars otherwise, come to Lake O. I mean, where else can you go for a coffee run, and find a Bentley in the parking lot, attached to the guy who has Mitt Romney stickers all over his laptop?

Dear Lake Oswego,
What can I say? People hate you for being rich and scumbaggy. They say all of your residents were California expatriates, who saved up their millions and wanted this beautiful Oregon suburb to be a mini-​calfornia. And they succeded. Maybe thats why my parents chose you, although they were anyone but Californians. Uhum! Why dont you let trucks inside your streets, and why were there just 1 black and 3 asian kids in my school? Oh, Lake Oswego, you just pretended to keep us safe. Just like your stuck-​up neighbors like West Linn, Mountain Park and Lake Grove, you did a job in getting into the hippy hate list of SE Portland. No wonder they torched all your SUV’s on Boones Ferry Road.
Whatever happens dear L.O., I will still love you and visit you since you had a place for me.
