Nice, quiet diner-style restaurant. Wife and I ordered cheeseburgers and were good. Nice to sit down and enjoy a quiet place. Staff was friendly. Place was clean. Would definitely go back.

Hands down best chicken Greek salad ever! we have been going to this place for years, back when it was Toms Coney Island they changed owners a while back and we were concerned that the salads were going to change. Thankfully they kept the same recipe for the best chicken Greek salad around. the owner cooks and his wife and mother work the floor they are all very friendly and even if they weren’t I would still come in for the salad

This is really great place, the food is tasty but not outrageously expensive. It also has the best waitresses, they make you feel really welcome. There’s also this really cute older woman wearing a babushka cleaning(the diner is also really clean)

My husband and I came for breakfast a few weeks ago. They were very busy. It took over 20 minutes to get our food, and when we were finally served, my eggs(ordered over hard) were runny and my bacon and sausage were not cooked. I sent it back to have it cooked properly. At this point my husband is half way done with his breakfast. My eggs come back still runny and bacon and sausage is not cooked. I do not liek them well done, but do want them cooked through! I observe my husbands omelet and see lots of pink which is supposed to be sausage. YUK. I pack up my breakfast so I can cook it at home. I eat toast for breakfast. The waitress gives me 10% off. This offer, in my opinion; was pretty lame.

Our favorite hometown restaurant. Iris is family owned and the pride and atmosphere reflect the love and cooperation such an endeavour must take. They remember their customers, service is always warm and inviting, and the food is great. They have always been super accommodating and friendly. We are moving a little further from Iris, but will travel the extra mile to come back! So few restaurants in the area have the homey feel and the great food this place has created.

Absolutely fabulous café that is family owned and run. These are the little slices of American pie that I enjoy and will frequent time and time again. The café food is the best around with an amazing selection and quality that is all very reasonably priced. The chicken pita is my favorite with a side of the lemon rice soup. There is ample seating for large and small groups. The décor is Detroit sports memorabilia and the there are TVs for games and shows but the volume is not blaring loud. There is ample parking and always people moving in and out through the day. Service is quick, respectful, courteous and friendly… I have to say we feel like part of the family here. Even though we are moving to the other side of town we will make the short drive up Baldwin to get our fix.

We were deciding where to go for breakfast this morning because I wanted an omelette, and my favorite is the kind someone else makes ;) While not wanting to get any closer to the Baldwin Rd construction, we decided to head to Iris Café. We had been there previously, when it had some other name, but this was our first time since it was the Iris Café. All of our breakfast items were good. I had my mushroom and swiss omelette, hubby had biscuits and gravy, and the kids had the mickey mouse pancakes, and the french toast. I liked that the hash browns still resembled potatoes, instead of frozen grated stuff. My daughter was still hungry, since her one slice of french toast was a lot smaller than her brother’s pancakes. She topped it off with one of my pieces of toast with jelly. I’m sure we’ll be by again someday, when I want something that I don’t feel like making, especially for breakfast ;)

A small café with a big menu of everything from antipasto salads to stir fry and hot and cold sandwiches. Oh, and breakfast, too. The coney dog was the special the day I was there; but not really being a hot dog fan, but I opted for a reuben pita. It was a good choice; in fact, it was a toss-up between that and the corned beef omelet on the breakfast menu. The corned beef and sauerkraut were in exactly the right combination to make every bite good. The pita kept it from being too heavy. The service was attentive, the food was good, although admittedly, it was only a sampling of the entire menu. I am curious to know if Iris can keep the quality on everything offered on a menu this large. If they can, then kudos for having a variety and to a kitchen staff that can keep it all straight. In any event, this place is a decent option when you, or the group you’re with, can’t agree on what type of food you should get.
