Rumbling Bald Resort On Lake Lure

Rumbling Bald Resort is a gorgeous wedding venue. It really was love at first sight! I knew this was the place from the photos on their website. When I saw it in person, I was even more sure. The beautiful lakeside gazebo is set perfectly between 2 mountains, just down the hill from the reception area. Our wedding was absolutely stunning and came together perfectly. Highly recommend this venue.

How i like the views of the mountains. The hikes are good and activities and quietness of it all was also. Kinda makes you want to bring your golf clubs and things and play a few holes. Lake town was pretty here. You can rent a boat or a canoe or kayak. There are also mountain bikes, The way to and from here was also a good drive. However it is close enough that it doesn’t have to be a all day thing. I liked it and the staff here was very good.

We just spent a week up here at Apple Valley Villas… with all amenities to Rumbling Bald… All I can say is if you couldn’t find something you love here… you weren’t looking !!! Everyone was wonderful and our condo was great !!! Loved It and are already planning a September return ! !!!

The resort is very beautiful with fantastic views. We went to the restaurant for dinner, we did not stay at the resort. The view from our table was gorgeous, overlooking the lake. Our server was excellent however the meal itself left much to be desired. Small portions, very high prices. I had a beef dish, the meat was rather tough. My wife’s chicken dish was dry. Ordinarily I would be willing to try this place again, if only due to the scenic beauty. Perhaps there was a new cook on duty, but due to the extremely high prices, we won’t return.

My wife and I are here for our honeymoon/​first vacation in 6 years. The leaves are in their full glory and this place is beautiful. We are here with my wife’s mom and her boyfriend in her timeshare and in a nice 2 bed split level condo just beside the golf course. We are way back in the back and it’s great although hard to find the first few times with all the twists and turns. The condos are older but still very nice with updated appliances and very comfortable beds especially the king size bed in the master bedroom. There is a deck off the living room and the master bath. We only had one issue and that was the master shower had a horrible leak and after taking a shower the floor was covered in water and it took 3 towels to soak it up. We called maintenance and they were there within 30 minutes and had it fixed.

Love this place! It’s a great vacation spot! Laid back with something for everyone in the family!

We are staying at Fairways on the Mountains, a timeshare associated with Rumbling Bald. We are half a mile away from Rumbling Bald and get to use all their amenities, like pool, mini golf etc.
We love to take our 2 boys (6 and 2) and vacation all over the southeast with the timeshare. The size of the units is nice and it is clean, however a bit outdated.
Tips:
1. Get an A side unit, B side is downstairs and smaller. Not full kitchen
2. Great fireplace in A side, but have to use composite logs.
3. No salt and peper :(
4. Movie rental, mini golf all cost small fees, unlike most RCI/​Wyndham properties I have been to.
5. Get groceries ahead of time, its a hike in and out of this area.

Idyllic vacation spot for our large family holiday gathering. Beautiful Fall hikes, and plenty of activities to keep the kids busy. Half the family rented a house and we rented a fairway villa. Everything was perfect… except we confirmed via phone and email 4 times to have a Pack-​N-​Play for our baby to sleep in. The front desk reassured us all times it would be in the room since we were arriving late at night. Wasn’t there, and Security (very helpful) was finally able to get us one at 1am. Great customer service from Security, underwhelmed by Front Desk. Overall experience was wonderful and we’ll gladly return in the future.

I was recently here photographing and I must say this is a great venue. Plenty of space for a wedding or big event. The views of the lake are amazing with the beautiful trees and mountains in the background, is breathtaking.

Our first time here and we love it. The villa were staying is is very nice and clean. We love the jacuzzi and the large bedrooms. The resort offers family friendly pools and a nice beach with plenty to do for the kids. The people are very friendly and helpful. They do have wifi available but don’t expect any cell service on the mountain.

The recreation center is a lot nicer than when I was young. Everything is up to date and whether you are a kid or an adult there should be something fun to do.
There is a beach area on the lake. It isn’t ZOMG awesome but it is well maintained and they add fresh sand from time to time.
Tennis courts, basketball courts, puttputt, cornhole, horseshoes, indoor and outdoor swimming pool and all good options as well.

We made reservations for the 6:00 dinner cruise over 24 hours in advance, at $ 60 per person. We arrived at the dock at 5:45, as we watched the boat pull out. After flagging down the captain to wait, he circles back around, while hollering at us about our reservation and last name. After he finally came back to the dock, he told us they didn’t have any food for us. While they refunded our money, and the bartender was apologetic, they really screwed up and really couldn’t care. It’s not that you make mistakes, everyone does. It’s how you handle them. Letting customers leave angry because of your mistake is terrible business. No manager ever came to see us, no future boat ride or any other reconciliation was offered. I was so looking forward to this cruise. Rumbling bald– your inefficiency has ruined my evening.

We had a lot of fun on our honeymoon! The dinner cruise through the Lakeview Restaurant was enjoyable, except there is no restroom on the pontoon… it’s kinda rough on a two hour cruise… might want to look into that.

Best place on earth… is an understatement. I love this place for many reasons, many of them being sentimental. I’ve been vacationing here with family my whole life. As far as I’m concerned, Rumbling Bals Resort On Lake Lure is the best quick-​trip/​weekend getaway this close to Charlotte. Only 45 minutes away from Gastonia and you’re in Mountain bliss! It’s the kind of place that you want to get lost in. Pick up your groceries on the way in to the resort (we do lots of cooking) and you will probably lose cell phone service… but that’s what a mountain trip is for. Everything you need is here… boat rides, basketball, golf (golf is a big deal here), swimming, mini golf, corn hole, the beach, spa treatments, pizzeria, walking trails, restaurants on the lake, banquet facilities (good for weddings and it overlooks the lake), and there’s even a church right across the street. There are many housing options at the resort. Lots of homes to rent for your stay, villas and townhomes. There’s nothing to complain about here, other than some of the villas needing some upgrades, it’s wonderful. I strongly encourage everyone to vacation here. An hour from Charlotte! Come on, you have to! Being that part of «Dirty Dancing» was filmed here, a few of the homes have pictures of «Baby» and other memorabilia. Not far from the resort is Chimney Rock (on the way there is a Zip Line place). It’s a very small town. Very very small, with reastaurants and shops and of course the mountain «Chimney Rock». You can climb and drive up the mountain. Not sure how far you can drive, but you can climb to the top. There are other resorts, Inns and restaurants, also another beach on the way to Chimney Rock. Overall one of my favorite getaways. If you can’t come to stay, just go to play golf. It’s amazing!!!
