Well, we’re weekenders, and we stumbled upon this place when looking for the elusive Claytastic creation’s new location? I needed a creative outlet besides loading my pellet’s in the stove differently and gardening. The ladies here are really kind. Louise was patient and taught me especially how to put on clasps, etc. My most intimidating thing in beading. The cost was low, 5 dollars per session plus supplies. If you have some of your own supplies, it just costs you less. From 10 – 4:00 Wednesdays and Fridays you may work, and Louise is ultra helpful. Tina who was working the front was super nice, maybe it’s from being a pine nut gatherer as those are delicious treats, all kidding aside, this is a non-profit run by the Tubatulabel Indians, enjoy this shop so they can keep this wonderful place open… They are very hospitable. They had a nice bead selection, stones like Amethyst, big bling pendant beads, more subtle ones like abalone, many colors of seed beads, even Swarovski crystals. This place is a gem, pun intended. And a great break from the way too busyness of life. All the family there, and their attitudes were great. Jose was hanging out there doing some editing for Indian tribes to send off to archives, nice and quiet place. We arrived after lunch, and I hunted and picked out most of my beads. I was helped on the wires, and helped through the process, and my wife is really happy with the necklace I made her. Guys, flowers last three days, and for the same price you can make your gal a necklace, handmade, with some really cool colors, and lots of help that is offered. When we go up next time we will attempt the gourd painting/staining and decorating. That looked awesome. This place is great. Low-key, creative options all around, card-making and scrapbooking too. Just relaxing to be with kind folk, keeping the hands busy and the mind so the devil has no angle to get in my precious idle mind. The have lots of things you’ll need. This place is a blessing on a hot day, any day, when you need to get out of the house and do something creative, colorful, and enjoyable. I’m looking forward to coming back, this might be a great date out, why not come home with two necklaces, and a new experience, than watch a movie out? Or split a meal, and spend the other half here and make some earrings. This would be a great place for folks to go as a group. Guys, this would be a nice gift for your down to earth lady that needs a break, and wants some company. The rule here? It’s nice to be important, but the Tubatulabals are just plain nice. God bless you guys at the Bead shop in Mt. Mesa, see you soon, and thanks for such a wonderful time and we’ll see you soon.
