As far as the food goes, its okay. The owner is what makes this place DESERVE a one star rating. My personal experience with him is this: I found that I was being taxed for sandwiches thst other Subways did not tax me on. The time that pushed me over the edge was a time that I drove from across the lake to get there with exactly $ 7.00 for a sandwich that had always been $ 6.75. I got taxed and didn’t have enough to cover the $ 7.26. I had to drive home, fortunately not that far from the business, get some change, and drive back to pay. I was furious. So I looked up the tax law and it turns out that all warm prepared meals are to be taxed, however cold meals(such as sandwiches) are not taxed. I did not have my sandwich toasted, so there should have been no tax. I wrote a really good, relatively nice, complaint to Subway who did absolutely nothing except forward it straight to the establishment. I got a call from the owners wife who asked me to come in and she’ll make it right. I came in, told her the same story I shared above, and she just kept saying she will make it right. So she tells me to order a sandwich. I proceed to order the same one I ordered in question and she builds it, overall very pleasant… but then I get to the end just after picking the veggies and oit from the back comes the owner. He immediately takes command of the cash register, you can almost see the dollar signs in his eyes. He proceeds to ring me up and I could see the fear in his wife’s eyes. She kept saying sorry to me and offered me some free cookies. Im not making this up. I thought I was getting a feee sandwich for my troubles, but she didn’t want to upset her husband so I(the customer) had to take the hit. When she hurried and shoved some cookies in a bag and handed them over I could see the anger in the owners eyes. Anyway, I really dont go in there too much anymore. When I do I try to make sure the white suv with the license plate that says«BALRAM» is not there. Cause one more overcharge or seeing him treat someone like hell and I might just go over the edge. They’re employees, not slaves. Otherwise I’ve heard dozens of horror stories about the food. I won’t go into that, but just know its a small town and word travels fast of any health violations.

The food isn’t very desirable. Doesn’t look fresh at all. Better than McNasties across the street…

I was actually ordering food in Taco Del Mar and while eating there over hearing the two girls behind the subway counter I was like geeeeze get me out of the hole. I wasn’t impressed with their language bashing a fellow employee complaining about who was going to be written up and how it was a bunch of crap and how pissed they were on and on and on, from reading all the other reviews on subway I’m thinking man glad the owners were not there, counting olives and being all tight lol… I’ll stick to Taco Del Mar when I’m in town, friendly girls and good food…

I logged on to blast these guys pretty good. I’ve NEVER had a good experience since it opened. The owner seems to be too busy to care about customers and the prices on the menu are higher than even in San Fran. If you go, check the board carefully and make sure they will take your coupons if you have any.

Cheapest owner ever, most expensive«5» dollar footlongs, and they are always out of the good bread, probably due to cheap owner who gives you 1 napkin per sandwich. Go to Vons deli

Owner is quite possibly the world’s cheapest man. Try to imagine an Indian fellow with a demeanor much like the«Soup Nazi» from Seinfeld. He commands the sandwich assembly line with an iron fist; watching attentively, as his employees prepare your sandwich, counting every shred of topping to ensure they place the minimal amount required by Subway law. Never in my life have I seen someone count out the number of olives being placed on a sandwich… ridiculous.

I came here occasionally for sandwiches. You could always count on the owner to remind his employees to not be generous with the sandwich toppings in front of the customers, come on! The meat is already skimpy, I count on the veggies to fill me up! I have never seen a sandwich artist count out olives(4 for entire foot long) My last visit, ever, was when the sandwich artist accidentally put BBQ sauce on my sandwich instead of mayo. The look in her eyes was practically begging me to just take her mistake and go, but I politely asked her to make another sandwich the correct way. The undercurrent of panic and fear in the employees in this subway in regards to waste of any kind is quite palapable and I wont be back

Subway in Lake Isabella offers a nice variety of very creative and satisfying sandwiches. Quality is consistently high and the premises are always spotless. However, the owner’s grouchy disposition is well documented, while his wife and staff are wonderful people who will make you feel glad you came. Higher priced than others in their chain. Subway corporate headquarters reports high incidence of complaints, usually for hidden credit card charges which the owner won’t disclose at time of purchase. Conditionally recommended.
