Our family tried to join a group of familes for this«exciting» experience. We called for a few weeks ahead of time and left tons of messgaes but NOONE retured out calls. Finally, we got in touch with them one day before the Memorial day and they told us that they did not have any space left. Thank you for ruining my weekend!!! I should have given you an no star. If you want to be a good company, return your customers’ phone call. Who do you think you are?

I was part of a large group that went for a friend’s birthday and we went on a Class 2 – 3. It was fun, exhilirating, relaxing, a great workout! They have loaner water shoes for those who don’t have any. Of course those things were used by others before so use at your own risk but at least youwon’t be barefoot over rocks. Our guide was cool. He kept sticking his oar in at whitewater spots in order to turn our raft randomly to give us extra workouts and extra thrills. He was awesome. * The trip was VERY affordable. * Kern River is only about 2 hours from Los Angeles. * Great bachelor or bachelorette party alternative. * They have half day and full day events at variouss kill levels. * Snack was provided at our half day trip.

I don’t even know where to begin… Outstanding. Everyone should schedule a trip with Kern River Tours at least once. My boyfriend and I had the best experience hands down. My man spent five of his childhood years living along Lake Isabella and the Kern, and he had never gone on a rafting trip before. I knew I had to schedule something(because I had done it before and loved it) so I suprised my man with this trip. We went on the two-day lower Kern camping trip. Everything was done to perfection. The employees were so friendly, helpful, and genuinely excited for you to be there. Registering and getting it set up was a breeze. The five meals(yes, five– 2 lunches, 1 dinner, 1 breakfast, and 1 after rafting BBQ) THEY cooked for US were delicious, filling, and… delicious. ACTUAL cooking… no packages or mac n cheese :) Their main concern is to keep you safe, comfortable, and enjoying your experience. I never once felt unsafe or afraid. Most are trained in EMT stuff. A man had a seizure and some heart problems while on our trip… and they took very good care of him quickly. In fact, after getting checked out at the hospital, he came right back down to camp to spend the last day with us. The camp you spend the night in was nice and comfortable and located right along the river. I will be honest… no showers and porta-potties only, but they were clean and for one night, no big deal. My man and I pitched our tent not even a foot away from the bank of the river and everyone joked that we would wake up in the water :) There were about 25 of us total in our camping«party», six per boat. We met people of all ages(12+) from all over California and England. The guides were friendly, fun, personable, and knowledgeable. I would also like to add good-looking and funny :) I might have had a little crush, but who wouldn’t when a rugged, outdoorsy man has your life in his hands and then proceeds to cook you awesome meals alongside a campfire. Sigh… Don’t tell my boyfriend. He did think they were cool dudes though and wanted to hang out with them and chat them up :) The best part was floating down the river out of the boat and swimming on our own. I also might add that there are opportunities to jump off cliffs into the water below… which I did take part in. Soo scary, yet so fun. The guides know what is safe and what is not and wouldn’t advise us to do something dangerous. Bring your own alcohol for the night of camping if you are into that sort of thing. I will definitely do this again. Awesome idea for a family trip, friend reunions, birthday parties, and even a bachelor/bachelorette party. Fantastic experience! $ 325 for the whole trip… but you definitely get your money worth and KRT is at least $ 10-$ 15 dollars a person cheaper than the other companies. I checked :) I now think my man wants to train to be a river guide… they said he was the best paddler in our whole group. It was awesome!

A fantastic experience if you have not done it before. The prices have risen for white water rafting in general, I remember it being below $ 100, now a 1-day trip will run about $ 130+ and if you do overnight well past $ 200 pp night. We did the sampler which was about $ 130. The guides provided instructions, a life jacket and a bus ride up the river. We were dropped off and grouped with up to 6 people. We started down the river and hit some awesome rapids. Our guide, Brian was the best, with interesting stories, and being the most experienced guide, we were the only raft that did not have any riders overboard. We went down for a while and pulled over. Then the bus picked us up again and took us up even higher, I think the bus ride itself was about 25 minutes. We then got off the bus and went down the river two more times. Fantastic experience with adrenaline pumping. It was good enough without being too scary of an experience for us city folks…
