THEREASONFORTWOSTARSISBECAUSEITCLOSED. REOPENAND I WILLGIVEIT5STARSAGAIN!!! PLEASE reopen this location. To say this store underperformed is a false statement. Whenever I was there, there was always a customer at the register but never a line more than two or three.(Unlike Starbucks where the wait can be 30 minutes before you even get to the register) People are always hanging out there because they don’t want to wait for their coffee… they want to enjoy it. Now, the locals have nowhere to go. We aren’t going to wait 45 minutes to get a coffee on our way to work. Closing this store has killed the neighborhood’s favorite coffeehouse. Lake Geneva is a Chicago tourist trap and they all go to Starbucks so we go to Peet’s for two reasons: 1) it’s REAL coffee(not automatic processed freeze dried stuff Starbucks passes off as «coffee») and 2) the atmosphere is SO much better to have a conversation. Closing this location forces us to drive an hour away to hang out with our friends and neighbors… self defeating for a coffee shop. The baristas at this location have a passion for coffee. They take their craft seriously. Evidence of that is they work on their latte art… sign of true coffee geeks. Their attention is in every detail, from timing their shots, perfect foam, not letting the shots die… perfection. You can’t lump this in with the Milwaukee and Madison market. There’s just way too much competition there with Colectivo and Stone Creek(both of which are no where near Lake Geneva) Lake Geneva should be in with the Chicago market.

Peet’s, home of the 15 minute brewed Chemex. Learn to brew it properly or don’t offer it at all.

On a one night stop over we(super wife since 1959 and I) and found this great example of «coffee shop» hospitality walking distance from our lodging. I had a great very large decaf latte made just right. It was as good as my other favorite place in Illinois.

Stopped in because there isn’t a Peet’s coffee in southern Illinois. As always, great service and an inviting space. The barista explained the differences in coffees and offered me $ 2 off for trying a lb of «Yosemite» blend. Last, but not least, they asked if I wanted a complimentary cup to go… sheesh! This place is just great!

Great coffee and lattes. A little Pricey but worth it to me. Very clean. Good bathrooms. They have got better baristas in there now as the old ones use to get the oders wrong frequently. Most of the Employees are nice. I wish the baristas would wear less revealing, low cut shirts as one of them bent over the counter to talk to my 7 year old and her breast fell out to where I could see her areolas. But hey, it might bring in more business.

My wife and I prefer going to Peets in Lake Geneva over the Starbucks. Similar in pricing, but drinks taste better and the employees are more friendly. My favorite drink is the iced maple latte. Perfect blend of sweetness that goes down smooth. The inside is clean and we’ll kept. Nice seating facing out the window towards other shops and can get a little glimpse of the lake.

Their house blend coffee, the solano, is very good. It’s not to light, not to dark. We tried their peanut butter oatmeal with chocolate chips cookie. I thought the cookie was going to be dry because of the oatmeal, but it was quite the opposite. It was buttery and not too gooey. :). I was able to taste all of the flavors. So good!

The space is just beautiful, and I enjoyed my coffee very much. I Think we’re lucky to have this in Lake Geneva and I plan to spend many days working here, taking meetings, etc. I think it’s very well decorated.

Very clean looking, but I really didn’t care for their overpriced coffee. I was sad to see Carabou Coffee leave, and somewhat excited when I heard another coffee place was coming in(since I really don’t like Starbuck’s usually bitter/acidic coffee). I find the coffee here reminds me of Starbucks, too bitter for my taste. Not bad, but too much for what it is IMO.

Very nice coffee shop located in central lake Geneva with plenty of seating and very friendly staff. They have some smaller food available at the counter and a good variety of tea.

I stopped here to get a tea while walking through downtown Lake Geneva. Not too much to say. Everyone was very polite. I ordered the small but the guy gave me a medium instead! Score! Chai tea was great!
Vast improvements at Peet’s since opening. Better training of baristas and they have hired some from mermaid who totally get customer service. Still can be a bit slow(no chit chat when you have a line). If no one is there then chat away! And if I’m waiting by all means offer me a comp. Music still a bit too loud(gee am I getting old…) Layout is odd(imho) But still great coffee and at the end of the day it is a coffee shop so there us have it. Great coffee and a work in progress on delivery. Suggest they get the Starbucks training guide and I’ll up em to four stars.

It was 410p on a Sunday afternoon in September when we rode the Harley to downtown Lake Geneva. For us, this was the end of our riding season and Lake Geneva is our favorite town to spend the day by the lake. Whenever we come here, we support local shops and eateries. Unfortunately, Peet’s was an absolute disappointment. The display case was devoid of any pastries. There was nothing so we weren’t able to enjoy Afternoon Tea by the lake across the street. With only one person ahead of me ordering a cup of coffee, it shouldn’t have taken as long as it did for him to get it. My only guess is that a fresh pot was being brewed and he was asked to wait. Meanwhile… Why I had to wait with him when there were other employees working behind the counter who could’ve taken my order didn’t make any sense. When I finally placed my order, I began to second guess my decision to come here for coffee. I ordered a small, decaf, no foam, not too hot, vanilla latte. With so much chitter chatter of gossip behind the counter, it’s no wonder why my drink tasted horrible. No one paid attention to it. It could’ve been served with old, decaf coffee with not enough vanilla syrup and definitely burnt milk. With that kind of coffee for that price, I’m better off staying away from lattes and cappuccinos. House blend with my own additives of cream, sugar and cinnamon is cheaper, less of a hassle and I take full responsibility of how it tastes. I don’t think I’ll be coming here again. I’m sure there are other coffee shops in the area for me to try next year.

Cold, corporate feeling. It feels like a Dunkin’ Donuts in here. Hard uncomfortable chairs. It’s a nice space, but it needs more sofas and places for people to just hang out for a bit. I get Peet’s and make it at home, so I knew what I was getting. I experienced friendly staff and great coffee here. I have no complaints about the staff or the product. They are all super nice. My only complaint is the atmosphere. These freaking spotlights on the ceiling are blazing down at you almost no matter where you sit. Is this a coffee shop or a hockey game? Good Lord, I need sunglasses just to sit in here at 7 o’clock at night. My retinas are on fire. If I sit here much longer writing this review, I may go blind. It is clear from the other reviews on this page that we all miss Caribou and the much warmer atmosphere of the old shop, but this is still better than Starbucks.

Well, that was disappointing. My first visit to Peet’s(since the Caribou switch) yesterday morning, I was struck by two things… how visually cold & unwelcoming the store was, and the utter lack of customers. A coffee shop is part product, part social experience, both necessary in keeping the customer’s repeat business. In Lake Geneva, you could GET coffee from Starbucks, or you could GO to Caribou & enjoy the great drinks, food items, and the company of friends and other«regulars», even at 10am on a Tuesday. I’m sorry to say, after a subpar caramel macchiato and our planned meeting for coffee ending up being taken«to go,» I don’t think we’ll be back.

Ok so I am a big fan of Peets coffee so I was pretty excited to see a store open in town. They totally transformed the look and feel of the old Caribou but honestly I am not a fan. It’s too bright white and feels like I am in a New York subway. White walls everywhere, very loud and just missing that homey confirm feeling of other Peets stores I have visited. Now to the service or I should say lack of. As a new place on the block I expected a hearty hello but alas the girl at counter just said«what can I get you?» She failed to ask for here or to go and delivered my husbands coffee in a paper cup. When he said mug please she acted like it was a bother. I ordered a cappuccino so had to wait at the counter. It took almost 6 min(Starbucks down the road is faster) and the baristas all looked stress. As she was about to pour my cappuccino I asked if I could have mine in a mug as I was sitting here. AGAIN I got a look without a single«sure no problem» At this point I am totally disappointed and not feeling any love from this place. Ok so I still love Peets actual coffee and since I just paid for it I went to drink it. I needed my Splenda and nutmeg but alas there was only cinnamon. Bummer. I won’t come back cause I can make Peets at home any time. The joy of going out is to enjoy the experience. Peets missed the mark on that for me today.
