This spot is excellent. Only reserving 5 stars because I have never been to Vietnam, but this is as good as I’ve had. I got Oxtail, it’s a specialty here. It’s extremely decadent and rich, slow cooked like brisket. It’s like pot roast but better(I avoided eating the fat). Highly recommend if you’re waiting for your car to be services.

This is our go to Phở restaurant in Lake Forrest, mostly because there aren’t a whole lot of Phở restaurants. The soup flavor is decent but the quantity, especially the meat and noodles, is inconsistent; it’s like a pretty volatile sine wave. This place has the potential to receive a 4 star only if they can improve their consistency, by a good margin, with the food quantity; like I’ve said, the soup has good flavor. The only difference between their small and medium Phở is the bowl size and the amount of soup. We almost always order calamari. Their portion varies quite a bit, probably depending on the cook. When I challenge the waitress as to why that is the case, she says that’s not the case since they measure/weigh each order and goes on to say that it’s the batter. I have to call b.s. to her excuse. For $ 15 fried squid, they can definitely do better!

I was married to a Vietnamese girl for eight years, and we not only visited all of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Little Saigon during that time(the 80’s), but her mom was a world-class home cook, as well. I think Vietnamese is one of the great, underrated cuisines of the world, and this place is a fine example: fresh, vibrant, delicious, and perfectly prepared. The staff is friendly and attentive, the place is clean, and the prices are reasonble.

Just had the vermicelli option with chicken and egg roll for nine bucks. Such reasonable prices I actually did not expect the food to be that great. When it came at me, my eyes literally bulged and I couldn’t help but exclaim, ‘Wow!’ It did not disappoint. The chicken actually had a sort of lemongrass(or something) green paste I could detect on it and the egg roll was fresh and tasty. The portions were perfect. Very well balanced and well done. Thank you for the pleasant meal.

I went on President’s Day Weekend, made a table reservation for 14 people(big asian family) with 30 minutes notice, they made room for us. We just filled out the space in the middle, but once we arrived the restaurant was at capacity. Even with a full house, the service was efficient and friendly. I was visiting family in Irvine and was so happy that I didn’t have to drive 20 miles to Westminster for a good vietnamese meal. Wild Card: I ordered Phở for the kiddo’s, they gave a thumbs up. When trying a new Vietnamese place outside of my comfort zone, I go for the staples, Phở, Bun, Goi Cuon(fresh spring roles) or the safe bed Cha Gio on Bun(a bed of vermicelli) just to be on the safe side. But I was feeling dangerous, so I ordered the Fried Calamari and Garlic Chicken Wings and man, they were tasty! Served with a side of fresh lime/salt/pepper in one sauce dish and Nuoc Mam(fish sauce) in another to give two dimensions of dipping fun. My highly critical-foodie sister got the Bun Bo Hue(spicy beef with thick rice noodles) and raved about it. Especially the house-made spicy-chili-garlic sauté sauce(It’s in a steal container sitting on your table) which gives any dish that extra kick. Décor to be desired, but hey, a good meal is a good meal. Price was very reasonable. Plenty of parking. Take this review seriously, I am vietnamese. Lol.

First rule of phở restaurant reviews… Listen to the VN. The spring roll here was cold. That means the roll was made and then refrigerated. Old. That’s a bad sign of any phở restaurant. Rolls should be freshly made. Phở had the attached large piece of lard in it. I was shocked and lost my appetite. I would pass this place. If you want something decent take the time and drive to Westminster. Cheaper. Extra 10 min drive is well worth it. This place is disgusting.

I’m not a Phở expert like many of my fellow Unilocalers, but I think I’ve had enough to appreciate good Phở when I find it. This place does not disappoint and it all started with prompt service from friendly, smiling faces. I knew what I wanted before I walked in and I had my order taken within 60 seconds of being seated. Hot tea came out 1 minute later with hot Phở about 5 minutes behind that. Fast service was important to me as I was on my lunch break and wanted ample time to enjoy my Phở without rushing. They took great care of me given my time constraints. Great service was followed up with a wonderful bowl of Phở. I added some of the traditional condiments to my Phở to spice it up a bit, but the broth is good enough to enjoy it ASIS. Whether this is authentic or not, again, I’m not the right person to ask, but the quality of the cuisine is well worth the amount spent and the overall experience exceeded my expectations.

Best eggrolls ever. Agreed by about 5 different people that I have brought over the past year. We make it a point to drive out of the way from Foothill Ranch Towne Centre past 3 different phở spots to this place specifically. One of the best broths I’ve ever had and again, best value hands down out of other viet restaurants on the area.

I love this place! They have such great customer service that I enjoy giving them my business – they are always friendly, polite, and have a great attitude. Just be aware that it’s not a big place, so if you come at peak meal times, there might be a wait. They also do take out orders, so that’s an option if he lines get too long. I usually order the Hu Tieu with seafood and pork and ask for a few substitutions(swap for phở noodles and switch squid for crab) and they are always accommodating. They don’t skimp on the portions here and even with the regular size, I always have leftovers of everything – noodles, broth and seafood/meat. I’m glad that they have the fried onion here and always ask for extra :) Unlike other Asian restaurants, which might give you attitude if you want changes, they are always great about it. I don’t think I come here that often(maybe once or twice a month?) but it’s really nice that one of the employees greets me like a returning friend and asks if I want«my usual order.» She probably remembers it because my order is so annoying and weird, but props to her for remembering at all! ^_^

I use to order the Bun Bo Hue here, but on my last visit I got the Bun Rieu. Oh wow!!! It was full of flavor. I have been craving it ever since my last visit. Thanh Binh II also has the main stream Vietnamese noodles, Phở. If you are feeling adventurous I would recommend the Bun Rieu. The plaza is newly remodeled. The buildings look more modern and there are some new restaurants that have been added to the plaza. The servers and the manager were all super friendly and helpful. Happy Bun Rieuing!

Ok, now I usually love to travel for food, but in my old age I’ve been slowing down a bit, and putting on miles to find good Phở, and traveling on one toll road, to the next toll road, to the 405, to the 91, to the 5 and where ever else my GPS tells me to go, I have finally found a Phở place close to home! No tolls or Freeways! As I hunkered down for some belly warming Phở with the rest of the OC crowd braving the 50 degrees temperatures with our winter beanies on to find something to keep us from FREEZING, I decided to order the medium sized seafood Phở.(ok, I also ordered a shrimp spring roll as an appetizer because I could never resist a good spring roll and this one didn’t disappoint. You can see that I ate half of one before taking the photo.) Ok, now I didn’t grow up on Phở, but for my Italian-American background, it’s like spaghetti in a soup bowl, and I like it! I really enjoyed my meal, as I felt it was tasty, fresh, and generous portions, and overall I had a great experience. Extremely friendly service, and oh yeah, I also had a nice cup of Vietnamese coffee(cappuccino), and so I realized that I have found, a friendly, homey, casual place to enjoy some solid phở close to home. I know they have been here for a long time, and I am happy that I have finally found it, and I look forward to my next meal here.

I came with my Co-Worker since he’s been raving about their«Oxtail Phở» forever. I cook«Oxtail Phở» at home and it’s all about the broth which can take up to a good 2 days so I was so excited to finally try it. We were so lucky and got seated just before the crowds started to line up. This is a tiny place so come a little early to avoid a long wait. Before heading down here, I read a lot of their reviews. Most of the reviews mentioned about their great Customer Service. I will definitely agree, the Customer Service was awesome and not so cold like at the other Phở Houses in Westminster/Garden Grove. They were very attentive and friendly. I did appreciate this very much BUT I didn’t come for their service. I came for one thing… OXTAILPHO. We both ordered the same Phở(Me-Small Bowl /He-Medium Bowl). It quickly came out in minutes. I noticed that the oxtail was the long and skinny length vs. the short length which doesn’t have a lot of small bones pieces. I only cook my «Oxtail Phở» with the short length of the tail so there are no small bones. Oxtail is not cheap so to cook with the best part of the tail, it can get costly so most Vietnamese Restaurant do not cook with it for this sole reason. The meat on ours today was chewy and stringy with absolutely ZERO evidence of that yummy gelatine. The meat did not fall apart like it should and the Broth was watery and not flavorful at all. I can tell the Oxtails were not cooked in the same pot as the Phở Broth becuz when you cook with Oxtails the broth has a jelly-thickness to it… that is what makes a normal Phở Broth become EXTRARICH and YUMMY. No signs of it in their broth. I tasted lots of MSG(which was confirmed 30 minutes after eating… I was super thirsty). I was so disappointed for the huge let down but I must say, their Customer Service did make up for what the Phở lacked. Though I would not drive down for their Phở again, I’m glad I tried it or it would’ve killed me to think I might be missing out. VERDICT — I think it is decent for the area but not good enough for me to want to come back. SERVICE — Such friendly staff and they are all attentive, nice change since in Westminster, you’ll be LUCKY to even make eye contact. TASTE — No TASTE at all… GO and try other places in Westminster and you’ll see the difference right away in the broth. BOTTOM-LINE — Phở is all about the BROTH… it just wasn’t tasty or rich enough for me to come back. Good attempt for Lake Forest though, I’m sure the many visitors don’t know the difference so it won’t matter to the majority. Thanh Binh II — Thanks for the great customer service today, we really enjoyed our small chats!!!

This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in South OC. The food is delicious. Their phở is great. The broth is tasty. A large phở can easily fed two people. Their vermicelli and rice dishes are equally good. Our favorite is the BBQ pork + egg roll vermicelli and pork chop combo rice. The service is always courteous and friendly. The staff always have smile on their faces. I came in with the 10% off coupon. The waiter took 10% off the bill, and told me to keep the coupon so I can use it again next time. I gladly added the 10% off amount on top of his tips for his good service. The price is unbeatable. You can get very full with leftover to take home for under $ 10!

It was a bad idea to order the large bowl of Phở and I felt like they gave us a bath tube. It was huge. They have Phở Oxtail, not every Vietnamese restaurant has it. The Phos came out super fast and the people were very flexible. We ordered for 3 but our friend was still on his way so they came out with 2 dishes and waited a bit. When our friend arrived his dish came out at the same time. I think I’d consider this at great customer service.

Wasn’t expecting much due to the fact that the construction in this shopping center makes this place look like a DMZ. That said, once you step inside, be prepared from some good Vietnamese food. I had to go with the Phở, since that’s the staple menu item. Also got a side of the cha gio. These weren’t as good as some other places, but still tasty and worth getting. The Phở was great and a medium bowl is large enough to satisfy. Pricing was average at about $ 30 for 2 including beers. Parking can be rough during busy times, but there is parking in the back if you’re up for a walk. Would come here again!

Pretty good phở for this area. I ordered a small sized bowl of Oxtail phở as I had passed by a table where someone had ordered the large, which was huge. I was surprised when the waiter came by with a plate of oxtail. I had ordered this at another phở restaurant where they shredded the oxtail and put it into the phở. The upside of the plate of oxtail was that it provided a larger portion than the other restaurant. I expected the oxtail to be more tender. Some of the pieces were chewy. The broth was light and not too salty. Customer service here is good. A waiter came by to refill our waters and a waitress asked us if everything was okay. We were thanked when we left. This was a good meal.

Was staying at the holiday Inn 2 minutes away from here. I was craving korean food but Unilocaled it and realizes closest place was 5 miles away. Searched phở instead and found this place. Great reviews and convenient. I rove over and there was a ton of parking as it is in a shopping center. Most people were at Buffalo Wild Wings in the same plaza cause tonight is march madness. Walked in alone and the manager or owner sat me quick. He was talking to other clients. There were 5 tables occupied. Menu was great… they offer small, medium or large phở bowls. I ordered the small and it was like a large. I loved the phở tai. Fresh bean sprouts and they brought me extra limes. I also ordered spring rolls and I’m not a fan of peanut sauce so he recommended fish sauce. They were bbq pork and good but I totally had a brain cramp as I wanted egg rolls deep fried ha. They offer shrimp, beef or pork spring rolls and 4 for 4.50 $ is reasonable. The ingredients were fresh. The owner and servers were extra friendly telling everyone«see you tomorrow» which I thought was cute. Great meal… $ 12 and i walked put happy!
