Love this place!!! Marina is the best for haircuts and an INCREDIBLE blowout. Why four stars? The price is a little on the high side but that’s what you get when you get your do done in Lake Forest.

Taylor Reese — Lake Forest — Very Unprofessional This was my first experience with this salon chain. I had scheduled specifically with Joel and had driven half an hour to get there. When I walked in the receptionist said, «Oh, I called your house and talked with your son — he said you weren’t home!» This was one HOUR before my appointment and I had already left. The receptionist tried to put the blame on me, «Oh, I called your house and tried to talk to you,» and then on the stylist, «Well, he called and cancelled his appointments for today.» When I tried to get some kind of discount for my inconvenience I was told to take it up with the stylist. An apology from the receptionist would have gone a long way.

I have been a loyal client of Marina Z for over 10 years! I followed her to this location from a national chain, because her color is fresh and attractive all the time. If you are planning a special event or just want a new look, Marina is the perfect hair professional to choose!

Not sure why they’re getting low ratings. This is a great addition to the neighborhood. Friendly staff & great service. I had to change appointments a couple of times because of work & they were more than accommodating. Robbie(haircuts) & Helen(color) are great!

I see a colorist, stylist and manicurist at this salon. I was their client for years at Elizabeth Arden in Deerfield and could not have been more delighted to discover they’d moved to within two minutes of where I live. All three are super professional, totally up to date on the latest techniques and products, and go out of their way to make me happy every time I go in for an appointment. I’m sorry to hear that two walk-ins had a disappointing experience, and can only speak from my own experience; but if I’d heard my three techs had gone clear Downtown instead, I would have followed them all at great inconvenience. They are that good. The salon manager, Stephane, also goes out of his way to ensure that his clients feel welcome and pampered. I feel very relaxed and at home there, and my hair and nails have never looked better! The music is great, the vibe is relaxed, and you can tell everyone who works there is happy to be associated with Taylor Reese. The only small quibble I have with the place is the noise level; when you’re in the small spa area, the noise from the blow dryers and stereo system is less than relaxing. It would be great if they would put in a door between the main salon and the pedicure and facials area. But this is a tiny criticism, and certainly nothing that would keep me from wholeheartedly recommending the place.

This salon charges 23% more on the base price for a women’s hair cut that is normal for Lake Forest. This is without any highlights, no bells or whistles. So you walk in thinking«must be good, it was featured in Elle and it charges more too»… tips are separate(«for shampoo and stylist», it was specified) . I went in thinking I’d work with someone who was up-to-date and professional. What I got was a mixed bag. The stylist was nice, but she regaled me with stories about her family members that I didn’t actually find relaxing or interesting. Her technique was middling. Frankly about as good as my middle-aged stylist at the other salon down the street, who I must really underappreciate, I think. The shampoo was horrible. I didn’t get that good clean feeling and I was not wrapped up as one usually is after a wash… just sent back to my chair. The stylist and shampoo lady didn’t hesitate to run combs and fingers quite hard through wet hair — which causes a lot of breakage. But my real peeve is with the blow dry after the cut. The stylist’s next appointment came early — I don’ tknow if that was a cause for hurrying for her… she didn’t let on. But I don’t remember any heat protection being applied nor any smoothing agent afterwards — and in evidence of that, I have major flyaways all over my head. She also couldn’t get the blow drying right. She gave me the blow out that she gives everyone else despite my pointing out what I wanted done… I wasn’t assertive(I shouldn’t have to be) so I’m disappointed that I overpaid for a less than satisfactory job. And of course, I tipped. Only to find that tips are deposited namelessly in a black box at the front desk. The salon was noisy, a little too brightly lit and the floor layout is a bit crowded. I think the buzz will die down here. And I think I’ll go back to my old faithfuls for the next cut.

Decided to try the new beauty spot in town. I arrived 5 minutes early because I never want to be the one to set someone’s schedge off whack. This just meant that I got to wait 20 minutes to be attended to. I was talked out of highlights which in hindsight was clearly because the color tech was running woefully behind schedule. So for $ 115.00 she squeezed a bottle of dye on my head(only having to leave twice to take phone calls) and later directed me to the wash & rinse gal(who was lovely for the record). I left with a wet and disappointed head. The salon is truly one of those ‘mutton dressed as lamb’ numbers. They don’t burden themselves with any of the usual salon niceties like punctuality or exceedingly pristine service. The only bright spot was the obscenely ostentatious women’s toilet that plays classical music while you tinkle.

DONOTGOHERE!!! The owner, Mona, knows nothing about how to take care of a problem. Marina did my color, and over processed my highlights to the point of my hair coming out as we combed it, along with clumps of gooey hair at the ends that had to be cut off. I had long highlighted hair, and only needed the roots done, and I left crying with ash brown hair that is thinner and shorter than when I arrived. This is the worst salon I have ever been to. Pretty… but looks are indeed deceiving.
