My family and I visited the Lake Clear Lodge recently and were quite disappointed. We waited an extremely long amount of time for glasses of wine to be poured down stairs. Shortly after, we were told that our dinner was ready and we could go upstairs to eat. We waited 30 minutes then went upstairs to eat. We were offered approx. ¼ cup of soup that was good but hardly any in our bowls. Our salads were absolutely repulsive. The dressing on top tasted like ground up balsam needles. No one in our 12 person group ate more than the first, awful bite. We then waited an hour and a half for our entrees that we were told were ready. They gave about 4 people their entrees at a time and took at least 15 minutes to give the next 4 people their food. Why not bring it all out at once? For $ 99/person, the entrees were just mediocre and we were already not impressed with the rest of the meal. Needless to say, we won’t return for such a pricy, average meal. I suggest another restaurant for the occasion.

We were there for a long weekend and thought there were a lot of pluses. The lake is beautiful, safe for little kids, great for swimming, and they have boats you can take out. There are reasonably nice bicycles you can borrow, and a few short hiking trails on the property. I’d say though that the very nice couple who run it have limited organizational ability and minimal computer skills, as they lose track of both verbal and emailed requests for meals. Also what 2015 hotelier uses post it notes on the fridge to keep track of reservations? While they are selling the«old world» feel, guests deserve to get what they ordered, particularly for the price. It’s tough to be there, with no wifi, breakfast served only for 45 minutes(not plentiful either), no grocery stores nearby and water that taste like metal.

Stayed here over the summer through a living social deal. The deal stipulated that we stay in the main house which was nice as it was not crowded. There were a number of chalet houses on the grounds that I would definitely like to take advantage of next time. The room was spacious and comfortable — no TV but we knew what we were getting into. The grounds are very beautiful we biked on the trails and took out the kayaks on Lake Clear. The food is truly outstanding. Owners, Ernest and Kathy really make you feel welcome and comfortable. I was blown away by Ernest’s beer cellar and Kathy does literally ALL the meals. Her food was so good we took two strudels home with us. It’s definitely a unique spot where you can relax and enjoy all that the Adirondacks have to offer.

Valentines day — menu was interesting — sampler thru the ages. Service and experience was not as good as our previous visits. Usually we LOVE our experience there but valentines day was not up to par.

ATMOSPHEREAWESOME WINECELLARINTERESTINGANDUNIQUE and unfortunately that is where most of the positives stop. We were a party of 12 celebrating. We had had multiple emails with the owners to plan for this special event. Little of the information we were told about the dinner come to fruition. There was no red cabbage, the«salad variation» consisted of two bites of iceberg, 2 string beans. The choice of cake or strudel ended up being a «tort with raspberry and a chocolate gonoche». It tasted like a pile of… Something(hard and dry) in 4 slices with raspberry jam and some chocolate icing. The«experience,» would have gotten a better rating If things had been handled more professionally. One of our party ordered a bottle of wine and the server Wanted the $ IMMEDIATELY, while we were eating dinner. Also, all of the dinner was luke warm . I am a very open person and love to try new thimgs, But this experience was more like a kooky bad dream.

OMG the dining experience is nothing short of AMAZING. Start with a choice of a 100+ beers or wines and fabulous appetizers in the Rathskeller then move upstairs for a 3 course dinner featuring innovative entrees based on local(100 Mile) products. Six of us each had a different entrée and we all loved them. The table is yours for the night. Spend as much time as you’d like downstairs, take a stroll through the grounds and show up at your seat whenever. The pace of serving courses is leisurely and allows for a true«dining» experience. We spent 4 hours from start to finish(without the stroll) and never felt a moment of pressure to vacate the table. This is the perfect venue for a special date night, an adult dinner party, or a company«group hug.»
