Very divey! I can now say«Been there. Done that!» This place is about three steps down from a Waffle House. Breakfast is served 24⁄7. It appears that management has gone through great lengths NOT to clean the place. There’s decades of uncleanliness built up. But I proud myself in my adaptability, so I remained for the rest of the show. At 3pm in the afternoon, I wasn’t in the mood for breakfast, so I ordered the grill chicken salad. The waitress failed to tell me it came in ex-small only. The chicken had been on the grill since yesterday, but the other ingredients were perfect! The couple in the booth next to mine decided that they didn’t like the elevator music blaring from the overhead speakers, so they played selections from their very own collection through their smart phone… drowning out the restaurants’s music. Apparently this is NOT shone upon in establishments such as KD’s. I wouldn’t go back! …even on my wildest night.

Great very simple old school breakfast place, nothing fancy just good biscuits, eggs and steak. I was a little disappointed the grits I had were cold, like they were reheated, lumpy, but coffee was good and people really nice. Wish they had home made preserves, don’t like the jam I’m a pack stuff. Some home made preserves or even jar jam would help out a lot.

This is place has character and everything a 24 hour diner from a horror movie should possess except a buzzing no vacancy sign out front. Arriving a little after 4:00AM we had no idea what to expect but everything I observed after pulling in the parking told me it was going to be a memorable experience. Walking through the door was immediate validation, the small isolated booths the outdated counter and stools the tin ceiling and scruffy décor all painted the picture that we were about to dine in a diner along old Route 66 in the 1950’s. The place was mostly filled with fictional type characters that could have been the cast in a Alfred Hitchcock movie, with the staff all playing the lead parts. I kept waiting for Rod Sterling to show up and welcome me to the twilight zone. All of the whispering and giggling between us quickly subsided once the food was placed before us on the small square semi unstable table that most likely was stabilized with a few folded cards from a deck left over from a illegal poker game. The first plate displayed my perfectly cooked medium fried eggs, with a bone-in grilled ham steak that may have been the best I’ve ever tasted which I credit to the ancient seasoned flat top it was grilled on, served with the perfect white buttered toast, across from me sat a handcrafted veggie omelette that on looks alone would rival most, paired with some of the most flavorful crispy hash-browns ever they were really incredible(all hash-brown should be eaten with A-1 Steak Sauce these required none) but the star of the breakfast trio was the strange looking oversize biscuit, it was browned and crusty on the outside, feather light and fluffy on the inside it may have been the perfect homemade biscuit, the person responsible for these biscuits should consider a marketing plan. Taking all things into account and maybe overlooking a few possible hygiene issues which in my mind I attributed to the age of the place so I can justify coming back every opportunity I get, this place gets 5 stars in regards to the food, the service and the atmosphere.

I would have given 5 stars if it weren’t for the lack of service. The breakfast was Excellent !!! They do not greet you as you have to wait for a table… beware this place is small. They took over 7 minutes to even take our drink order & one of the waitresses were not very friendly. So come here for the food but don’t expect great service

Felt like a funky dive kind of place for lunch on the road and KD’s in Lake Charles hit the mark! Great food, good service, and friendly staff! Forgot to take a pic of my western omelet with hash browns and a biscuit(or should I say– a OMG!!! good biscuit!), but trust me it looked as good as it tasted!!! I’ll definitely be back when in the area!!!

Ordered a breakfast to go, when I arrived I stood at the counter for at least 5 minutes before even being acknowledged then it took another 5 minutes or so before getting the total on my order to pay. When she gives me the receipt there was no pen to write with so I asked for a pen and she throws it on the counter as if she put out… Ok, so by this time I paid $ 7.00 for my breakfast to be cold, soggy and bland with a side of bad and rude service… guess I won’t be ordering from here again.

The wife and I stopped here for breakfast after doing some gambling at the local casinos. The previous comments about the biscuits are spot on… They are delicious. The place is very crowded & seemed a bit short staffed. However the wait staff were very attentive, food was quite delicious and very inexpensive.

Authentic Cajun chicken and sausage gumbo. I used to work with many folks in Louisiana and have eaten a lot of home cooking. This is the real deal. The service was quick and friendly. Very laid back diner atmosphere. Prices are also very good.

Normally I love KDs. I’ve never had a problem with service and we love the food. However, last time we went there was a black hair in my husband’s hash browns. I informed the waiter, and told him that we weren’t upset but obviously we would not be eating the hash browns. He did profusely apologize, but I was surprised that we were still charged for them. Most restaurants would comp a meal with such an obvious error(not to mention health code violation). That caused us to notice a cook with a full beard working that night, which is usually not allowed. I’m sure we will go back, but we’ll be more careful in inspecting our food.

Price: 16.88+tip for 2. I had the western omelette but ordered it without the bell peppers, it was amazing! And probably the best biscuit ever!(I love biscuits with a passion. Service: they were super attentive and nice. Very mindful and accommodating of my food allergies. Overall an awesome diner, cute, affordable and delicious

It’s ok. If you are from a decent size town, it will be smaller than you expect. I sat at the counter area and the male slim cutie with the blond hair in a ponytail decided he would take 4 folks order(including mine) without writing a single thing down.(2/28/151235AM). He came back to clarify what hot tea I ordered even though I already told him. Forgot the guy next to me’s bacon and cheese for a burger and gave me toast instead of the biscuit I ordered. Then he came back yet again to verify my order. WRITEITDOWN!!! How annoying. Food was average. I think it’s the only place in town besides IHOP and Waffle House open late nite so go ahead and check it out. Just insist that the waiter write down your order. Dang. It’s not that tough

Simple but good down home cooking. We had breakfast here since every place was closed on Thanksgiving day. The locals were very friendly and made you feel welcome. My breakfast was extremely good something called the shredder if not mistsken hash potatoes covered with eggs, cheese, and jalapeños. Very large portions I couldnt finish had to take a to go box.

What a great little local diner! So glad we opted for breakfast here over one of the chain restaurants in town. The dining area of the restaurant is fairly small, so we had to wait a couple of minutes for a table to open up once we arrived(but hey, quality is worth the wait, right?) Once seated, I was very impressed with the prices on their menu – this is small town dining at its finest, without inflated prices or overly detailed descriptions of menu items. Our standard breakfasts of eggs, grits, bacon, etc really hit the spot, in my opinion. The highlight of breakfast, however, was talking to the gentlemen at the table beside us. They were locals and had tons of recommendations on what to do in town, where to eat, alternatives to the casino, etc, etc. Such a wealth of knowledge and great conversation! I wouldn’t have traded that time for a king’s breakfast of caviar omelettes and champagne. I loved the environment here, and the good food was icing on the cake. Stop in for a spell next time you’re there, would ya?
