Disney’s Pop Century Resort

This hotel is very decorative and very pop century, which is why they named it that way. The atmosphere felt very old schooled, and the bedding sheets looked really old. I wasn’t sure if they were ever going to upgrade their bed sheets-​but in my opinion I think that they should. It made it hard for me to sleep, because I constantly think it’s dirty.
Before we checked into the hotel, we told one of the representatives that we wanted just one king bed for our rooms. We were here to celebrate our 4 year anniversary. They told my boyfriend that they were going to lay out balloons and other anniversary pins on the first day we came in. Nothing was there; accept they gave us everything we did not request for. When we walked in, it came in with two beds, and nothing complimentary. Nothing was ready for us.
There is a really nice pool for us, so we try to take advantage of that, and the bar area. The bar area was enjoyable because they close at 12:00 midnight.
The food court area was pretty neat; there is a microwave there, so if you need to buy other essentials for food, try to take advantage of that. Also, this hotel provides some cool events.
They have certain movie times located outside near the pool area to watch. The movies I watched were the newest star Wars and Inside Out. It was nice.
There were also times my boyfriend and I had nothing to do, so we would walk around the hotel — we took many pictures because there is lot old school stuff!
In conclusion to my review, my boyfriend and I only somewhat enjoyed this hotel, maybe when we visit next time we will go elsewhere. Again, this hotel was affordable than the others– so there’s not much to complain about.

This is a very good Disney Resort to stay at… The rooms are nice and clean… The theme for the resort is pretty cool… It’s fun to walk around and look at the details of the different buildings… Each building represents a different decade… They have buildings for the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s…
The pricing for this resort is reasonable and considering you’re staying on Disney property it’s worth it…

We had a really fun time staying at Pop Century. The location is tucked away closer to Disney World’s entrance and transport (either car or bus) is required. That wasnt a negative for us since we had a rental car and found the bus system highly efficient. At checkin we asked, and recieved, a king bed room in the 1950s decade. The bed was comfy and the room was spacious with an iron, fridge and nice view. Overall the value of this value resort far outweighed its faults and made it an excellent option for us! For all those haters out there with negative reviews I want to say that at disney a little bit of kindness goes a long way and in our experience the crew members were more than happy to go above and beyond the usual call of duty to make us comfortable with a smile and please and thank you.

We haven’t been here 8 hours and it has been a disaster. From staff to manager. Discrimination all over.
Our room were not available when we arrived at three.
Concierge staff awful to us. I could go on and on but i will not. Just an advice to anyone trying to book a room here. Just don’t stay here. Book at another place.
Oh and regardless where you plan to stay, if your hotel reservation is done within 6 months, do not do the meal plan with table. It’s a ripoff. They will steal your money because you can’t book a spot. You will loose the money. Period. You are better off with the quick meals… Well not at the place at this hotel. Not worth your money…
Update– the whole experience was a disaster.
The room was not clean completely. I was scared about the shower it had mold all over. I left being sick. They didn’t changed our sheets at all during our seven nights there. No toiletries were left even after we used them all.
Another example, talked to a concierge about something that we needed to do and she said oh yeah you can. We went to the park and they said yes you can but you have to pay more money and she also said that there was no note that would wave that. Make sure you have it in writing because Disney changes/​rotate their staff everyday so you never see who you talked to. So no way to complain again to that person.
Another one, they had a massive IT blowout. No way for us to pay once in the park. The bands didn’t work at all so you had to go back to your hotel to get back your credit card or money. Big hassle. No apologies, no credits, nothing. Plus you had to pay for your meal then do a huge line at night to get reimbursed because you had a meal plan :(. Not fun.
Then another fun fact, one of the meals never came up because of the huge IT fiasco well the concierge said to us, well you got a free meal. Ha! We never trust her. Sure enough we kept deducting that one so we didn’t go over our meals. The day of the checkout it was there. So, if we had forget about it, then they would have charged us over $ 300 for that restaurant.
Bottom line
Customer service is there to screw you big time and they can get away with it because they rotate every day. I passed there every day to see if i saw at least one of them coming back. They didn’t and we were there 8 days.

Meh. Looks worn and tired but was probably great when it first opened. I agree w the other 2 star reviews – better than staying off campus, friendly staff, cute décor but it just looks old and not well kept.
Bath towels thread bare and stained 2 of our 4. Ice maker on our floor broken. Got wet going from lobby to our room in 60s building.
If we make the trip back here from Hawaii again (prob not in next decade), we would try a different on site resort.

My family and I have stayed at Pop Century numerous times since I was younger. The cast members have always been willing to help and are caring. The property inside and out is always clean and we never see any bugs. Especially considering the lower price for this hotel, it is truly a nice resort.

This was my 10^th Disney trip but our first time trying out a value resort. I was shocked by the HUGE difference in quality between moderate and value. We lowered our expectations but we didn’t expect to have to lower them below a motel 6. The beds were hard as a rock. Our kids actually chose to sleep on the floor over the beds and joining them was tempting. It was very dark even with all the lights on.
That being said, the food court offered a good breakfast. The pool was nice. The poolside bar had good drinks. The buses ran smoothly and everyone that was there was friendly.
If you really NEED to do Disney on a budget stay here. But if you can up it to a moderate I highly recommend it. I know we will be this Fall.

Worst hotel hands down ever stayed at! Let’s start from check in didn’t tell me any information of the hotel and when I asked got a rude response to come back later because it’s «busy». Cafeteria had the worst food and when you have to ask for something the staff has a lot of sass. Next day house keeping came a little bit and when I asked for them to come back in a few minutes the maid rolled her eyes and never came back. Next morning at 7:30am house keeping came and I said I’m getting ready and she said you can’t always say that I have other rooms to take care off.

I’ve stayed here numerous times since it opened. Back in 2006 it was actually pretty decent. Bright colors, fresh, totally fine for a value resort.
We stayed for three nights in May of 2016. Our room was near parking lot in 50’s building. Our room (other than the beds) just looked dirty. The table was broken & wobbled, the beds were hard, the walls had marks, the drawers were dirty (I wiped them out and had hair on the wipe). Bathroom was ok, just grimy. Shower pressure was good.
The bus transportation was pretty horrific for Epcot & MK. This resort is far from MK. If you stay for the fireworks at Epcot or MK, expect to wait 30 – 60 minutes for a bus back. That is so late with little ones. I wish Disney would do fireworks earlier but I know it gets dark later in spring/​summer.
I have stayed at moderate resorts too and I would DEF pay the extra $ 300 – 500 to never stay at a value again. They’re just way too crowded & uncomfortable.
It’s been real Pop. Thanks for all the cheaper WDW vacations.

Rooms are VERY small. The pools are no frills. This one needs to be on the renovate list. They just redid animation resort which is a ton better than this place. For the price you can find a lot better off site accommodations with more amenities for a better price. If you want to stay on property pick animation over this one. You will be much happier.

Even though the Art of Animation was bursting with color from afar I was very happy with our stay at Disney’s Pop Century.
Our room was clean, the staff was more than friendly ALL THE TIME and the location was great. We didn’t share transportation buses with any other hotel which was very convenient.
I requested a lake view, top floor and it was PERFECT. We had a great view, it was close to walking distance to Art of Animation to see their grounds. I saw other reviews that said some of the rooms were too far from the main building — we stayed in the 50s building and it was not that far at all. Even close to both pools.
The cafeteria food was average but it’s pretty much exactly the same at ever other value resort. Just remember to eat something fresh and you will be fine.
They are 2 double sized beds but my boyfriend and I had no problem fitting in one. I can see where people are used to larger beds it might be an inconvenience but no complaints here.
I would also suggest checking in before. They sent us a text message and we went directly to our room with our Disney Bands. That was the most convenient thing ever!
And I kept in mind that this hotel was a value hotel. So it doesn’t claim to be anything upper class. I think if you are looking for a place to rest your head and bolt out of the door early morning to get to the parks it’s perfect. If you are looking for more amenities and softer beds, bedding, pillows and so on I would suggest you save yourself the complaints and stay elsewhere :)

Been sitting on this review for a while, trying to figure out how to put what I’m feeling into words. I think that the Unilocal 2 star description nails it with «Meh. I’ve experienced better.»
I had heard people compare «The Pop» to Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort but to me, there is no comparison. Cabana Bay wins by a mile. Maybe even 5 miles. The Pop was more like a motel than anything else? It looks like there was no care taken in the way of room décor or guest comfort. I have an intense dust mite allergy, so I knew that there was something going on in the room when I found myself stopped up and sneezing throughout the entire stay. This means they probably don’t wash/​change the sheets as often as they should. The bathroom was also nothing to write home about. It was stale and made me want to get in and out with a quickness.
On the bright side, the service, as is with Disney in general, was perfect. I don’t know what kind of sorcery Disney has, but whenever we called down to the front desk, they knew us by name. Getting our luggage to the room was a breeze. I stopped here first from the airport, dropped my luggage off, then rode the bus to meet a friend at another resort for the day. Even though we switched rooms when we came back to check in to the Pop, the luggage folks had our bags rerouted to the correct room in minutes.
The décor outside of the room was ok. I loved looking at all the technology through the decades in the lobby. Having a mini Disney store in the hotel wasn’t too shabby either, though it got a little redundant with literally every single store on the Disney properties selling the same stuff. The bright paint colors on each building was definitely good for kids. What surprised me most about the Pop was that the food offerings looked really good! I didn’t have a meal there, but I saw at least 8 different things that I would have tried if we hadn’t committed to eating our meals in the park. I wasn’t expecting that, so good on you.
Overall, I think that the average star rating reflects the fact that even though this hotel isn’t all that great, it still trumps not staying at an on-​site resort for Disney vacations. If you’re traveling as a family and want to do Disney on the cheap, then this is a fine place for you to crash. I just would personally want to step it up next time. Staying on site is key to having an awesome time at Disney. You don’t have to worry about parking fees, navigating traffic, or any of that stuff.

We recently stayed at this resort. I have stayed here before but probably around 10 years ago. The hotel was clean, and well kept, and didn’t look run down.
There were a variety of sub-​themes in the hotel, with iconic games or items to match (e.g. Twister). There are nice trails to walk or run, and a connecting bridge to the new Art of Animation hotel.
This hotel has a large cafeteria with counter service options. It gets QUITE busy, so even though it is quick service, the lines are sometimes very long, and it can take upwards of 30 – 45 minutes to get your food and cash out.
This hotel ask has a nice gift store with a variety of items. If you have a Disney Visa card, and you make a $ 50 purchase, you get 10% off.
The room itself was clean, but small. There were two adults, and one infant, and not much room left between the furniture, stroller, and pack-​n-​play. For a reasonable rate, and the transportation from the airport and to the parks, it was definitely worth it!

By far the worst Disney resort that I have stayed at. My family visits Disney about every other year and we always stay on property (the convenience and value really can’t be overstated). Normally we stay at a «Moderate» resort like Port Orleans or Caribbean Beach however, on this trip we were traveling with a few family members who were on a bit of a budget and we agreed that it made sense to go for a Value Resort. NEVER AGAIN.
It took almost 45 minutes to get checked in only to find out that my room was nowhere near the rest of my family (although we had all booked together and requested rooms near each other). Everyone else was housed in the same building while my room was on the opposite side of the resort… so that was a bummer.
When I got to my room, I started unpacking and I noticed that there were towels hanging on the back of the bathroom door… wet towels that were clearly not mine. I started thinking «if the towels are left from the previous guest, what else is?». So I turned down my bed only to find a ton of long, black hair in the sheets. Went to plug in my phone charger and found a half-​eaten granola bar behind the nightstand. The icing on the cake was finding someone’s hot pink press on nail stuck to the carpeting in the middle of room. Our housekeeper was either literally blind or spent all of five minutes resetting the room between guests.
I called housekeeping immediately and asked for a room change. I was told no, there is nothing available but they could send someone up to take a look. I showed them everything that I had found and they did nothing except hand me a clean stack of towels and take the wet ones away. I wasn’t even given an apology.
Disney has never disappointed me like this resort did. Absolutely disgusting. While I do have every intention of booking another Disney trip in the future, I will NEVER stay at this resort.
My advice: Spend the extra cash for a more enjoyable, relaxing vacation. I paid about $ 170/​night for Pop Century. For an extra $ 50 a night we could have been staying at a quieter, cleaner resort on property. Disney vacations are often once in a lifetime experiences for many families. Make the most of it and spend the extra for a resort in the Moderate range. You won’t be disappointed.

Pop Century is a great way to stay on Disney property at an affordable rate. Everything was great at the hotel. Check-​in was easy, our room was clean, and the quick service dinning was great. The staff was all friendly from the front desk, house keeping, lifeguards, everyone went above and beyond.
The great benefit to staying at a Disney hotel is the extras you get. The hotel has shuttles that drive you to the parks, so you save time and money with parking. The extra magic hours before/​after regular park hours really make a difference. The mini fridge included in the room was great for snacks! I really loved the resort mug that we could use our entire stay for soft drinks at the hotel cafeteria.
I am only rating 4 stars based on the negative experience I had with reservations. I went back and forth several times with the reservations department. They were not as magical as Disney is in person with customer service

Great hotel if you’re on a budget. More of a 3.5 rating, but I would definitely stay here again.
I think the best part of this hotel is the bus transportation. Unlike other hotels, like the All Star hotels, they do not share their bus transportation. So once the bus picks you up, you’ll go directly to your destination. The most I waited for a bus was about 15 minutes.
We did online check in and at first I requested lake view on the 4^th floor. After being indecisive, I wanted to switch over to the 1^st floor. I had to call the travel company to switch my preferences. When you do the online check in, you’re supposed to receive a text once your room is ready. I never received a message, so I headed over to the «Online Check-​In» line at 3:15pm. My room was already ready by then. Our room was on the first floor of the 60’s building, facing the pool, and it was the 2^nd room closest to the lake.
When we first got to our room, there was tons of bugs outside of the door. I had to smack them with my papers in order to go in. We were only in the room for about 10 minutes and we headed over to Epcot.
When we came back at around 11:30pm, our door still had a bunch of bugs flying around. When we entered the room, the bed closest to the door had bugs all over the pillow. I called the front desk and asked if we could switch to a different room. I believe the cast member on the line was Bryce and he was really understand about the situation. We switched over to a room about 5 minutes later. The room was still in the 60’s building and facing the pool, it was just a lot closer to the food court.
We stayed at POP from Tuesday-​Saturday. Room service was nice. They always made our beds, cleaned out the trash, and even left a «Welcome» card on behalf of Mickey. Front desk was approachable and always courteous. Bell services was always helpful with our bags.
Hotel theme was really cute. There’s a pool close to every building. The bug situation sucked and the fact that I never received a text was defeating the purpose of online check-​in, but overall it was a nice hotel with good service.
Definitely don’t stay on the first floor facing the lake, tons of bugs. If you want lake view, stay on a higher floor.

We’ve stayed at this particular Disney Resort several times now and we’ve always had wonderful experience. It’s Disney… so of course!
This resort is large and has a wonderful theme. They have buildings for the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Naturally, Disney goes all out and the Imagineers did wonderful work on the buildings/​area for each of the decades. If you’ve never stayed here, it’s a must to just walk around and look at all the buildings and the wonderful attention to detail.
As with all Disney Resorts, check-​in is a breeze and the employees go out of their way to make experience exceptional.
The rooms area a nice size and are really clean. A microwave and mini-​fridge are in each of the rooms which is convenient. There’s also a small in-​room safe.
In the past, it’s also just been my husband and I, but on our last visit a few weeks ago, we shared a room with my daughter, her husband, and our 7 month old grandson. There was plenty of room for all of us and we weren’t tripping over one another. Granted, we were only there for a couple of nights. Had we been there longer, we would have needed two rooms just to have some more privacy. Since we were in the Parks the majority of the time anyway, the space was just fine.
I wasn’t aware until my past visit with my grandson, but the Disney Resorts provide Pack & Play «cribs» free of charge and will deliver them to your room. You can request this at check-​in or you can call down from your room and they will have one brought up. We called down for one and it was delivered to us within 10 minutes. I was just over-​joyed by this because we didn’t have room in the vehicle to bring his Pack & Play with us and we thought for sure we were going to have to him sleep in the middle of one of the beds (not that I would have minded some sleepy time with my sweet boy).
There are three pools here. A large one off the main lobby, one at the 80s/​90s area and another at the 50s/​60s area. There are tons of activities that go on at the pool off the main lobby.
There’s a restaurant, gift shop, outside bar, and an arcade. Even right off the lobby, they have a cute little area with a TV playing old Disney cartoons and a couple of old arcade games that you can play for free… one of them is Donkey Kong, which I got a lot of joy out of playing, but I can’t for the life of me remember what the other arcade game is.
One disappointment from our visit as of December 2015 is the fact they no longer do the little Disney «touch» any longer with the Mickey Icon and other towel art. I called down and asked about it because I thought it had just been forgotten to be done in our room and was informed they are no longer doing it because «the guests have come to expect it.» Yes, I was actually told that and it is a quote. Well of course we’ve come to expect it… it’s frickin’ Disney!!! Now, I don’t know if this goes for all the Disney Resorts or if it’s just the Pop Century. Then again, I also may have been speaking with a CP (college placement employee) who didn’t know what they were talking about. At any rate, there was no towel art for our last stay.
We always get a great rate here thanks to being Florida Residents, but even at the regular rate, it’s still a good value considering you are on property and don’t have to worry with driving anywhere or paying for parking. Very convenient. I highly recommend this particular Disney Property!

Family of three, two adults and a four year old, stayed in September 2015.
This is a value resort so its definitely «no frills.» But we don’t spend much time at the resort while in Disney so we really don’t care about frills. It is clean and I found the beds to be very soft and comfortable. The décor is pretty outdated and everything could use a good refresh but again, not a big deal. Food court was terrible. They were out of stuff constantly during our stay — especially desserts, ice in the machines and bottled drinks. It became pretty frustrating. The food court staff was pretty unfriendly about it too. For the amount of money that we pay to stay there, you should be able to get a little ice.
My main complaint was the noise! It was SO NOISY in our room! Its like there is no insulation at all. I could hear everything that went on in the rooms around us, all night long. We were on the third floor so we heard everything above us as well as next to us. I could even clearly hear the guy in the room next to us peeing! Gross! If you are a light sleeper, like I am, this is not the place for you. Art of Animation, though still a value, was much better as far as noise.
I would definitely stay at POP again but I would FOR SURE request a room on the top floor.

On a recent trip to Disney we decided to save a little money and stay at the Pop Century which is one of Disney’s value resorts. I made the reservation through Travelocity which was apparently a bad idea. First, when we checked in, the «magic bands» used for our room key, park tickets and credit card purchases only had my name and info synced to them. We were informed we needed to make changes to the payment info, etc with the concierge.
We strolled over to the concierge and ended up with someone in training. Long story short, we had trouble from that moment forward. None of the payment info was correct, 2 of us were charged twice for park tickets, one person’s park tickets were not recognized at the park and we could not access the fast pass feature.
We stored our luggage with the hotel on day 1 and were it would be taken to the room once the room was available. When we returned from the park, we decided to check with the bell cap since we had so much trouble with the magic bands. He told us we were all set but unfortunately, the luggage was not in our room. I can definitely see why it is considered a «value» hotel but I expect more from Disney. It all worked out eventually but I do not recommend the hotel.

Stayed here for my birthday weekend getaway to Magic Kingdom. I love all of the décor they have around the park. I honestly do not think you can go wrong at Disney.
The rate was very cheap for a spring weekend, $ 140.
We stayed in the Lady and the Tramp section, I loved the huge statue out in front of that area!
Think about a hotel breakfast, I was expecting soggy everything and unappetizing bland eggs but it was the complete opposite! I probably could have eaten there all day and been happy.
For a «value» resort, while staying here you definitely forget it is considered a value and think you are staying at a nice Hilton.
Free transportation to all the Disney parks and Disney Springs.
I would definitely recommend.

Rolling my eyes at some of these reviews:
If you’ve never stayed here, or are considering staying here, let me break this down for you properly, without the hyperbole that others seem prone to.
Disney has every flavor of hotel (on site) for every mood and budget. The resorts are ranked from value and moderate resorts to deluxe resorts. You can spend as little as $ 85.00 a night at The Pop Century hotel (depending on the season) or as Much as $ 1000.00 a night at any number of the Deluxe resorts. It all depends on how deep your wallet is.
Call me crazy, but I’d rather stay 10 nights at the Pop Century for the same price that 2 nights elsewhere would cost me on property.
If you visit The Pop Century (value resort) expecting a deluxe resort’s amenities, you’re sitting your self up for disappointment. However, if you’re reasonably sane and understand this simple «apples and oranges» difference, you’ll find this is an excellent place to stay when you’re on a budget and looking to maximize your fun.
That said, it’s not short on anything at all… it’s just price appropriate for what it is. The resort is clean, well managed and heavily themed. The rooms are well kept, yet basic. How long are you gonna be in there anyway?
Like every other Disney resort, transportation is provided here. You simply walk to the front of the hotel and wait on your private bus that will take you where you need to go. The buses run to each park and downtown Disney every 15 minutes or so. This is the norm at all the resorts, regardless of price.
Multiple pools are scattered throughout the quads that are themed by the decade. 50’s, 60’s 70’s 80’s and so on… Pop Icons are everywhere. This is a fun place! (see pics attached)
I’ve always enjoyed the food court and consider it one of the better choices on Disney property. That goes for all the resorts, by the way. There’s a lot to choose from and the gift shop has everything from sunscreen to souvenirs.
I mentioned up top, that this is a great place if you’re on a budget. That’s not to suggest that this is where you should stay if you can’t afford something elsewhere… I’ve seen others imply that and it’s simply not true. I’ve stayed at just about every resort on Disney property and jump around often. It really just depends on my mood and the time of year. I enjoy staying here because, it’s clean, simple and efficient. It’s more a matter of common sense after all these years than anything else. I can stay anywhere I like on property, but after one’s done it all as many times as we have, it boils down to common sense.
1) You’re in your room very little.
2) you’re not going to get any more wet in a different resort’s pool.
3) You’ve got the same transportation that’s afforded to every other resort, minus the monorail and boat, available at the deluxe resorts. That said, I never used them much when staying there…
So, there ya have it. Out of all the value resorts, I prefer The Pop Century to the others. That includes, The Art Of Animation. Like everywhere else on Disney property, it can get exceptionally busy depending on the time of year. Watch out for the Brazilian Girl tourist groups in January and February. Google that for more info!
