Susan was an angel helping me to relax and get ready before my wedding. As it was an elopement wedding I missed having my girlfriends around a bit but she made it disappear and more importantly helped me to look great. I arranged only hair service but she also helped with my makeup as I was having a bit of a crisis. Definitely recommend!

Ellie did the make up for my bridal party, moms, and sisters for our wedding. Although she was extremely professional, this was the most stressful part of our wedding day. There was a miscommunication in our emails so she ended up going to the wrong location so it caused a 30 minute delay in our schedule. And slowly as my bridesmaids came back, they all had complaints about something. Everyone had to fix it whether it was eye shadow, uneven eyeliner, or uneven eyebrows. Most of them said they felt that since there was a delay that she seemed rushed so that may have been the reason why the make up wasn’t great for them.

I contacted Susie less than a month before my wedding & only confirm her services barely a week before my wedding. Thankfully she still had availability for the date I was getting married. Amongst the few quotations I requested for from various salons, Susan had the most reasonable pricing.
EVERYONE at my wedding loved my hair & constantly complimented it.
Susan came as scheduled at 630am for my session and despite a late hen’s night & being half asleep before we started, Susan just woke me up with her enthusiasm & cheeriness so early in the morning. We wrapped up within an hour giving me ample time to do my own makeup & get ready for my morning ceremony.
I showed her a pin up wedding hairstyle that I liked & she did exactly as I requested for. I had 38 bobby pins in my hair at the end of it all! (yes i counted) but it stayed throughout the ceremony, reception & wedding lunch.
Overall such a pleasant experience.

I contacted Susie a week before my wedding, very last minute. She responded right away and was very flexible about locations and time. She did my hair and makeup, and she’s amazing! My makeup lasted forever, even after all the dance and sweat. She did a wonderful job for my contouring and highlighting considering I have very round face. She is so creative and so fun to work with. I was quite nervous in the morning, but her positive energy made me relax. She even gave me other makeup staff for touch up for later use. She is amazing! I cannot be happier about my hair and makeup. She helped and made my wedding perfect. Highly recommend her!

I got married on Maui on 9÷20÷14 and hired Susie to do my makeup and also my sister’s and mom’s makeup. She was beyond amazing! First, she was very quick to respond when I first contacted her, which was not the case with many other vendors I contacted on Maui — most appear to be on island time. She arrived not only on time but early for both my trial and on my wedding day, which I really appreciated. She was very open to my ideas about what I wanted and was patient and meticulous. But, most of all, she was one of the sweetest people I have ever met! She has a lovely spirit and way about her and having someone like that around you on your wedding day makes all the difference. She even gave me powder, blotting papers, and lipstick to have with me for the wedding. Hire Susie for your wedding, I promise you, you won’t be disappointed!

Having a destination wedding can be a little stressful, especially when you are picking out vendors. I picked Susie the same way I picked all my other vendors… based on reviews. All I can say is wow!!! Susie is amazing! I decided not to have a trial run on my hair and makeup so the first time I met her was the day of my wedding. She showed up right on time with her suitcase of tricks in tow. She did an incredible job of both mine and my MOH hair and makeup. I am very picky with my hair (I have natural curls) and I generally always end up hating how other people do my hair so I was a bit worried. Not only did I love my makeup… I LOVED my hair!!! She did an awesome job! Susie is the whole deal. She does beautiful hair and makeup, she is quick at responding to emails, she is very professional but more than that, she is a beautiful person. She literally set the mood for the morning of my wedding. Thank you sooo much Susie! You are fabulous!!!

Eloping to Hawaii no friends or family to rely on, I had to go with my gut instinct and book Susan. She showed up right on time and was efficient. I have absolutely no regrets. I went in not having any idea what I was looking for in regards to hair, and I prefer a natural look with my makeup but needed a flawless look for the photographer. I was very very nervous in the hours approaching the ceremony and Susan swooped in with such a vibrant personality I was immediately at ease and felt like I had a girlfriend doing my makeup. Coming from out of state you need someone who you can trust, I would go to Susan for every occasion if I could.

My wife hired Susan Bortz Designs to do the makeup and hair for our wedding in Maui. She looked amazing, and she told me how much fun she had working with Susan that afternoon. She put her at ease and made it feel like she was at home with her personal stylist with whom she has been friends for years. The flower girls also had a great time with her.

Susie did an awesome job on me and my bridal party for my 4−2−13 wedding. She showed up on time with an awesome supply of Mac makeup. My mother-​in-​law was hesitant about wearing foundation and Susie made her feel confident in what she was going to put on her. Of course she looked great! My mother and maid of honor’s makeup looked superb. And my makeup??? Looked awesome. Susie did exactly what I wanted and I never did a practice session. All in all, a great experience.

Loved loved LOVED Susie’s work! we did a trial before the wedding and she really listened to what I wanted and by the day of the wedding she did a sensational job! I had 7 bridesmaids and just wish that she was able to do them all! 5 stars for her and highly recommended!

I was lucky enough to have Susie do my wedding makeup, both trial and day of, and I couldn’t have wished for anything more. She’s so talented and easy going and sweet that you instantly feel at ease with her.
Working together with Ashley Kakugawa (hair) they made such a great team that my entire bridal party was raving about them for the rest of the week. She made each of my girls and my Mom look so beautiful and the makeup lasted all night long without looking overdone.
I felt so beautiful on my wedding day and I have Susie and Ashley to thank for it!

Susie did my hair and makeup for my wedding on 12 – 12 and I have to say that she was superb! She was on time, sweet, and definitely aimed to please! She did an amazing job with my hair and makeup and I can’t thank her enough! She was so professional and really cared and wanted to make sure that I was happy. She took her time to make sure that everything was perfect! I would definitely highly recommend her!

Susie was incredible. professional and amazing. It felt like an old friend that I had know for years doing my make up not some one I just met. Susie and April were utterly fantastic and made my mom’s day with the fabulous hairstyles and makeup they did on my mom, me, and the other lady in the bridal party.
They were professional (arrived early and ready), courteous (friendly, nice and sweet), patient (my mom was at her picky best) and made what is generally a sensitive aspect of a bride’s big day effortlessly smooth.

I found you on Unilocal after making a reservation where I am staying at the Westin Kaanapali. After speaking with you and reading your reviews I decided to cancel my appointment at the Westin. You were able to fit me into your tight schedule on such short notice and you were right on time. Oh and you only charged $ 5 more than the Westin and you came right to my room rather thsn gaving me go to another Westin property to have my updo
I was very nervous because I have very fine and thin hair. I loved my hair when you were done and my teenage daughters came out of the room and said that my hair looks awesome and thick. That made my day. Then my daughters were going to do their own hair but I asked if you could but the flowers and braid their hair and you were more than happy to help
Thank you for making my 20 year wedding anniversary so much more special. I felt like a princess when I was all done. Just like 20 years ago.

Susie’s the best!
I picked out Susan Bortz Designs pretty much sight-​unseen. I was looking for wedding hair and makeup on Maui and her sight was just about the only one that didn’t show a bunch of dated, contrived updos with curled tendrils hanging down.
Susie and her co-​designer Ashely did my hair and makeup along with 8 other of our guests/​attendants. She came to the hotel for a trial run a few nights before which saved me a ton of headaches. My hair looked amazing and my makeup stayed practically flawless the entire night. All of our attendants looked fabulous too. I highly, highly recommend her.
