I haven’t eaten lunch here, but the breakfast here is fantastic. We stumbled across the Pioneer Inn after deciding to skip breakfast at the hotel, and head to Lahaina for a morning walk. Been going back ever since. The plates are HUGE and their breakfast potatoes are great. The staff is pleasant, but we’ve had a couple experiences with forgetful/slow servers. It happens. Life goes on. You’re on island time! You can’t beat the location(right off the Lahaina Harbor) — and open air dining is always pleasant! Because it’s open air, yes there are birds, and yes there are a few bugs. But you’re dining in a tropical environment, what do you expect? Reasonable price, and plenty to do afterwards, definitely check out for breakfast!

I can only speak for the drinks here but came here for a cocktail with the fam after a day of walking around Lahaina. It was super hot out so a cold cocktail was just what we needed. I ordered the Lava Flow and spent the week bouncing around from place to place testing them out. Out of all of the bars we went to, this place definitely had the best drink. The bar itself wasn’t the prettiest of all places and you had to go through the hotel and ask the server for a key to the bathroom, but hey, #firstworldproblems.

This place was my favorite back in the day! It’s really gone downhill over the last while. The food is okay and the prices are okay too. Nothing special as far as the menus goes. I would give them 3 stars but the service is really poor. I’m saying this as the wait staff is really trashy and slow. Lots of tattoos on the staff and obviously uneducated. One waiter had a hammer and nail going right next to our table as he was attempting to fix a chair! There was a big stinky dog lying on the floor next to our table as well… we love dogs by not wet ones next to our breakfast table. They have a bird in the front entrance that has an ear piercing sound every 30 seconds! I strongly urge people to dine elsewhere! Our server had hand tattoos and I just cannot let this go…

Happened here by accident. Blocked by fire… what do I do now?! Get sliders and beer! Awesome Pau Hana and affordable appetizers, with live music and TVs to watch whatever sport happens to be on at the bar. For being across the wharf right off Front Street, I couldn’t believe the prices. I will be back and recommend to people who like the tourist atmosphere, but may be on a budget. Say hi to Alex, the African Grey parrot. He whistled at me, that’s why I decided to try it.

I was really disappointed in this restaurant. The location is fantastic but that is the only positive thing I can say about this establishment. The service was very poor even though the place was not busy. It took us very long time to even get our water and menus and then we had to chase our server down for her to take our order. Then once our food was served our disappointment continued. When you are located directly across from the Pacific ocean you have no excuse for unappealing tasting seafood dishes.

Business lunch took place at this beautiful establishment! Have you been here? So it’s «kind of» off the beaten path a bit… maybe more for peeps who live in town I guess. I spent the morning in Lahaina and made plans to check this gem out. Here’s what I thought: Parking can be a little tough, but I planned on staying in town for awhile so I grabbed a spot at the dirt lot a few blocks away and walked. Location. It isn’t located on busy Front Street, but tucked just down the street and offers fabulous views of the water, boats and the hustle and bustle of Lahaina. Really great spot to people watch. Food. I ordered a glass of water and the Spinach & strawberry salad. Boring I know, but hey, it was a hot one out there. It was tasty. The ingredients were fresh and it was presented well. I wished that there were more nuts on top for some added crunch, but overall, it was good. Service was okay. The host who sat me didn’t seem thrilled to have me there.(Not that *I* am exciting or anything. Haha!) But he seemed kind of bored and definitely not very happy. My server was nice, but as soon as my lunch was done, she cleaned it up and suggested that I move to the bar – as I had some paper work out. I get it, I was a server back in the day. Turnover is everything, however, the place was FAR from empty and it just felt a little awkward – and unwelcoming. The view is awesome. I’m pretty sure I had the best seat in the house. If you’ve been, you know of the talking parrot. And if you haven’t: there is a talking parrot in a big cage. I was sitting right next to him and I’m pretty sure he was hitting on me? Cat calling, whistling, trying to get me to give him food. It was really funny. I had nice shade and the view of the Pacific was just a head turn away. The plants and the breeze made the experience just lovely. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. I just wished that it wouldn’t have felt like it was time for me to move on – even though I did need to get moving.

40 Maui trips in 27 years and many breakfasts later I still love this place, Maca pancakes, farm fresh eggs, pineapple/ham omelets, casual/local hangout. If you are expecting fu fu food go elsewhere, but this is as good as mom’s cooking back home. Cheap eats(for Lahaina!), plentiful portions. Ono broke da mout food. Now go eat some

Horrible service! We sat down and the waitress took our drink order. We waited while the band was TOOLOUD! And I’m not old! After delivering our watered down beverages she just walked away without asking us if we were ready to order or if we wanted pupu(apps). We paid the bill and left. Sucky service!!! Not impressed! Get more than one waiter/waitress! She talked to the band the whole time!

Service and food were just ok. Asked for ranch dressing to dip fries into but the dressing was bad. When I mentioned it to the waitress she said and I quote«our ranch dressing is just tangy like that». I have been eating ranch my whole life and I know that it’s not normal for it to taste tangy unless it’s gone bad. Had the BBQ pork and fries which was actually good. This place could be so much more if they simply put in a little effort.

This is a great location if you are on a cruise ship. It’s right in front of the dock entrance/exit. You see if right in front of you when you exit from the Tender. We checked it out with our friends before walking into town and decided this would be the place to meet when we wanted to get back together later in the day. The drinks are nice and cold after a hot afternoon walking around Lahaina. Staff is friendly and service is very good. Can’t wait to go back.

Great little breakfast stop. Nice location right across from the water. I ordered the Mac Nut pancakes and my wife got the Hawaiian Sweetbread French Toast. Both delicious. Huge portions. Coconut syrup was a nice change. Good coffee. Alex was quite entertaining.

This is a place I come to every time I come to Maui. The macadamia nut pancakes, the Hawaiian sweet bread french toast… The coconut syrup… Well, we went two days in a row. The waitress is great too, we were lucky to be served both days by her. The first day we sat by Alex, what a charming bird. I couldn’t stop getting up and talking to him. The Snow White in me just couldn’t handle not talking to him. The second day we got the biscuits and gravy to share because we wanted to have a quick meal before going on the submarine tour. They were fast. We told them we had to be back to the boat in 30 minutes, and it was no problem. We had time to spare. Some people might think 5 stars is high, but I like everything about this place including the atmosphere. And, like I said, I come here every time I come to Maui. There is a reason why.

Great drinks on a HOT afternoon, waiting for the Expeditions Ferry from Lahaina, Maui back to Manele Boat Harbor, Lanai! Actually taste liquor in the drinks! I enjoyed the Lava Flow, which is like a coconut shake with pineapple and strawberry purée and rum! Yum! Friendly and prompt service! Woo hoo!

Pioneer Inn Grill & Bar — where i discovered the next best thing to Nutella on waffles and french toast… Coconut syrup! We wanted breakfast, was actually looking for a different place, but ended up here. Service was friendly, loved our waitress, cute, and had a bubbly attitude. Nice view of the harbor. Even Alex the bird made it an interesting experience, when he wasn’t squawking is head off. Ordered the Sweet Hawaiian bread french toast(before discovering the syrup). I broke away from my normal default of waffle breakfast, and went with something I can’t get back home. I also got spam… I love spam, its actually not normal how much I love it. all in all, left full and happy, maybe in a bit of a sugar coma after pouring half the contents of the bottle onto my toast.

Pioneer Inn has become a once per trip stop while we are staying near Lahaina. My 5 year old absolutely loves Alex the African Grey Bird that they have in the restaurant. We have never had a wait here and the staff and servers are all very personable and accommodating. Love their Molokai Sweet Bread French Toast! Good food, good people and a talking parrot? What’s not to love?
