Freaking amazing!!! My non-GF husband went nuts for the lemon tart. They serve coffee and tea in real china. The best GF bakery I’ve tried, including the mainland bakeries!!!

It can be hard to find good gluten-free and dairy-free desserts, so this place is heaven! Extremely friendly workers, delicious cupcakes, muffins, and way more(a lot of variety), really cute shop, and good location right off Front Street in Lahaina. I highly recommend Maui Sugar Shop even to those who are not gluten-free; family members of mine that are usually skeptical of anything gluten-free loved the desserts they got here and were very impressed.

So I don’t ever look for anything GF… I always think that it’s going to taste like hay. But I had friends in town who were dying to try this place. So… Lets give it a whirl! Ok first of all, this place is darling from the outside. It’s nestled in a building just a little ways off Front Street. I could tell as we were approaching that I was going to love it. A cute vintage bicycle was parked and the doors were propped open welcoming us in. Gasp. Cupcakes, pink things and twinkling lights oh my. I could LIVE in this store. There are so many tasty, yummy looking treats. But the real test would be: taste. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I fully trusted my instinct to go with the chocolate woopie pie. She placed it in a cute brown box and we made our way… To the table. There was no way we were going to wait to eat these. First bite: hmm. Yep. Second bite: Huh, I didn’t think I was hungry. Third bite: this is the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Game over. My new favorite. So much yum here. So pretty much, I love this store and I will be back for treats. Who knew GF could be so Ono?!

It is obvious that the owners have so much passion for what they do, and it shows through their amazing bakery items. I have been gluten free for 3 years(wheat intolerant). So I know what’s up with the good vs. the bad GF items. I had a chocolate lilikoi donut, that was incredible, but I found that their Eclairs(cream puffs) were the absolute BEST. I think I will have dreams about them for years to come! Can’t believe I was lucky enough to find this small awesome business on Maui. Will definitley go back if I’m on the island again. Can’t recommend this place enough, super tasty and incredible that they are Gluten Free!

Such a special place! Had banana bread which was great. But these Pao de Quejo cheesy-goodness were amazing. I had to order another. Great space to chill a little and great service.

This is THEPLACE to go on Maui for organic, gluten-free baked goods. I confess to visiting 4 times during a 5-day stay on Ka’anapali beach. The coffee cake was not my favorite(a bit rubbery), nor the banana bread(I’ve had better), but I am addicted to the Lilikoi(passionfruit) muffins. Also, the Lemon Tart, Pineapple Upside-Down Cakes, and Cream Puffs were worth multiple trips. I had to wait ’til the weekend for Cream Puffs. Not everything is available every day. My kids also loved the Whoopie Pies. If you’re a cupcake fan, they have a large selection and even offer large and mini sizes so you can feel less guilty or sample a lot of different kinds. They also have quiches if you’re in the mood for savory. The earlier in the day you go, the more selection.

We had stopped by here after strolling around Lahaina. Just wanted a small sweet treat before our dinner reservation. My husband and I just shared their cream puff with our daughter, the custard was super yummy. Very light and delicious. It’s a little pricey for their desserts but they are a organic bakery shop. And it’s quite a very cute and adorable little bakery. Everything was served on cute antique looking table/silverware. I told my husband it reminds me of Paris and their cute cafes. We stopped by again to pick up some goodies for nighttime but they were closed already.

All gluten free??? And delicious??? Doesn’t taste like dry cardboard??? Yup! As a self-proclaimed cupcake connoisseur who has been forced to remove gluten from my diet… I am now in cupcake heaven! I sampled 5 of their mini-cupcakes, and was impressed with them all. The lillikoi was my favorite. Black coffee was great as well. They also offered whoopie pie(gluten free and vegan), cookies and cake(gluten free) that looked great as well!

Like most everyone else, I’m giving Maui Sugar Shop five stars! It is rare to find an all gluten-free bakery and when I do, I try and enjoy as much of it as possible! We stopped here multiple times and were helped each time. We have gotten the: Carrot cake cupcake, peanut butter cupcake, pâté-choux, oreo cupcakes, yum! We also stopped in on our way to the airport and grabbed a deliciously wholesome turkey sandwich so that I could actually eat something during our 9 hour flight. Really decadent treats here, they’re pretty rich and dense so I suggest getting the mini cupcakes of different flavors so you can have them all. I had heard about the lemon bars and came too late in the day each time to get them– so make sure you go early if you want some!

We stopped in today for an after lunch treat. As someone who must avoid both gluten and dairy it was a wonderful choice. We were helped by the owner who was helpful and knowledgeable regarding my options. I had a Whoopi pie which was fantastic. My wife had a little peanut butter cupcake which she also enjoyed. If you crave something sweet while in Maui take the time to find it!

Another amazing visit to my favorite bakery! We were visiting Lahaina all the way from Kihei(LOL!) and I ordered the Haupia cupcake and a chocolate, peanut butter salted caramel mini cupcake and some of their yummy iced tea. My husband ordered a cream puff(his favorite). We couldn’t even make it past Oluwalu before getting into our goodies. The owners are so friendly and knowledgeable about gluten intolerance. I’m consistently impressed with the variety and quality of their menu items. This place is worth the drive and my only complaint is that they don’t have a Kihei location. Thank you for offering a rare GF option in Maui!

Wow, who knew Gluten Free desserts could taste so good?! My sisters and I stopped in here two times during our trip to Maui and I would have come back more if we stayed longer. Maui Sugar Shop is a small bakery in a strip mall off Front Street with a cozy atmosphere and friendly people working there. I tried the lilikoi muffin and a lemon bar with lilikoi and both were they good. I HIGHLY recommend the lilikoi muffin and the cupcakes as well. I only tried a bite of my sister’s cupcakes and from what I could taste they were delicious! She tried the carrot cake and chocolate with lilikoi cupcakes but preferred the chocolate one. What’s so great is that they have regular size cupcakes in addition to mini cupcakes if you have commitment issues like I do and prefer a smörgåsbord. Don’t be afraid of trying gluten free desserts because you’ll be sorry if you pass this bakery up!

Oh man, come here! Everything is so delicious and all gluten-free! I was in heaven! And the staff was so friendly. The lovely lady working the front threw in an extra mini cupcake for free for me and a mini muffin for the woman ahead of me. They just really seem to love what they do and are happy to make others happy with their delicious products, especially those of us who don’t usually get much of a selection when it comes to baked goods. There are a couple free parking spots just in front of the shop or park in the main lot. Looked like $ 5.

We tried every flavor they had in the mini size cupcakes. We actually bought 2 of each flavor and I’m so glad that we did because they were all SO delicious! I eat gluten free but the others in my group do not, and they were even impressed! I am going to be dreaming about these cupcakes… I am definitely going to be making another stop during our stay and making this a must go to stop on our annual trips out here! Love, Love, Love!

Just behind the Foodland and theater off the strip we had the impulse to check out this bakery, I like discovering on my own and had to grocery shop, so foraging and hunting gourmet natural foods directly from local purveyors in town close-by is such a nice relief from the grocery bakery! Cynthia makes the best homestyle cupcakes with interesting ingredients you’d want to try, and my fav buttercream buttery frosting, and we have cookie lovers amount us as well, without any agenda, Cynthia just popped in an extra cookie for good measure and these were amazing, the flavor of quality, natural sweets is hard to beat. Felt like a local farmers market, the neighborhood generosity she brought out from the oven, the fresh bread, the item for bakery on our list. An alternative grain bread, a different texture but tasty and a sweeter style popular in Hawaii, so you can some traditional softer sweeter bread while going gluten free! I must admit, I’m often not submitting reviews though travel and taste a lot, but this sweet mom and pop place obviously has met a needed niche!

Oh yes please! 100% Glutenfree baked goods, and my local sources tell me the cinnamon rolls are to DROOL for. Locally grown owners Zane & Cynthia started the bakery for their legendary cream puffs — their search for a good gluten free ones had been fruitless. We were too late in the day for cinnamon rolls, so I’m calling ahead next time and get them to hold them for me! Open 7 days a week. These owners seriously love what they do and the people they do it for. Not willing to commit to a full size cupcake? Mini cupcake to the rescue! Donuts? Yes… although I was told by a friend it was more cake than donut. Pshaw! Chocolate w/lillikoi icing. Melt my tastebuds! On our trek back to the car we stopped in for some carrot cupcakes to bring back to the condo. The buttercream… oh yes. None of that store-bought icing goo. Mmmm. Creamy goodness. Uh, the chili cupcake. Oh MY! Did you know you can order a glutenfree airline lunch? Just $ 18! And they ship to USA… most things. Air conditioning. Not to mention delicious delicious treats AND sandwiches. They’ve *tried* everything including the Google car to make directions to get there better… sigh! So glad I was DETERMINED to find them. The actual map is… so not their fault! There’s a road! Parking! Hard to be aloha-ing w/crummy map makers keeping me from my sweet treats! If you are on Front St. look for the really cute flamingo pink cruiser bicycle. Turn inland and head away from the ocean… ½ a block to the end of the building on the south(right) side, then turn right, go along to the end of the strip mall! Ahhhhh. Sweet success!

Several vegan options, ranging from 3 – 5 stars. Also some gluten-free options. I don’t remember if they had anything that was both vegan and gluten-free. This place was hard to find. Knowing the address doesn’t help. It’s not really on Front St. It’s hiding in the mini-mall complex behind where you’d expect 878 Front St to be.
