We keep coming back here because my kids love the revolving part of the sushi bar. It’s fun and interactive. For me, the sushi is decent. Not the place to go for omakase night, but very decent. $ 2.25 per plate. Our hands-down favorite is the seared salmon sushi. It’s topped with this ridiculously yummy mayo sauce! Love the crispy rice with spicy salmon too. The Laguna Hills location can only be accessed from the outside of the mall. I never have a hard time with parking. But there is usually some type of wait so the earlier you come for dinner the better. The kids go nuts for the electronic conveyor belt that shoots out the order placed on your own touchscreen TV. Every time you hit 15 plates inserted in the slot, a cartoon blasts on the screen followed by a toy that is ejected and comes out right to your table. Feels like you’re in Japan! Sometimes you really have to try hard to track down a server, but overall we’ve had good service here. Just a note, the Diamond Jamboree location is not upgraded with this cool touchscreen technology, and the wait is even longer.

The wasabi was some of the worst I’ve ever had, on the side of it making me on the verge of vomiting. There was bad service, we had to call someone over, and the shrimp was extremely bad, it was grey and I didn’t even want to eat it.

Really enjoyed this place and the new food ordering concept, which makes it very entertaining for kids, and very easy to enjoy a quick meal. Conveyor belts bring by all sorts of yummy sushi($ 2.25 plate) so you take what you want. Or, you can place your order on the screen at your table/seat and in a minute receive your order on the super-speedy top tier conveyor belt. Watch out with little ones though since ordering is very easy and quick… and they can quickly run up a bill if you are not watching over them! ;) When you are done with your plate, you deposit it in the slot at your table. For every 5 plates you deposit, a little video plays on the screen. When you deposit 15 plates, you get a little prize that drops down from the dispenser. It’s like a sushi casino in here! Sushi is pretty good. Fresh hand rolls at $ 2.25 are an awesome deal… especially their spider roll!

I love Kula so much and I especially love the new upgrade! If you are a sushi person and love raw fish this is the place to go because it’s practically all you can eat for only $ 2.25 per plate which is pretty hard to find at other fancy restaurants. It is so great and convenient with the new screen where you can make any custom orders on the spot. The only thing that was kind of weird was I asked the waiter for a side of ginger and ponzu sauce and I had to ask a few different people before they actually gave it to me but it didn’t bother me that much. The wait at the laguna Niguel location is about half an hour for a table of 4 people which wasn’t to bad. It was definitely worth the wait though and I will definitely come back and bring some friends.

I was gonna use the coupon which they issue. It didn’t have expiration day. Whatever reason they didn’t take it. As they are in service field, they should take that the one they issue. Totally can’t trust their sushi according how they treat a customer. I am so disappointed and so shamed for this Japanese franchise restaurant as i am Japanese. They don’t have much variety of sushi anyways. They are just loosing us and future customer we were supposed to recommend.

Restaurant was pretty spacious. Got seated right away. Conveyer belt was full of empty plates. Asked how plates worked and was made fun of by waitress. Digital menu– had to order all our sushi off the menu and wait. Got sushi and it wasn’t great. Rice was warm, sushi wasn’t cut right– jagged or too thin. Our waitress spent more time talking to the other waiter than helping us. We sat with empty cups for about ten minutes before she noticed. Asked for sweetener for our tea and she brought us a little cup full of moist sugar? The only thing I liked about this location was the hot roll options and the toy rewards. I love the Kula in Irvine but this place was pretty bad. Three stars and I am being gracious.

Quick seating for single persons. Ever since the remodel, I have noticed even week nights are quite packed. If two or more, be prepared to wait between 20 to 60 minutes depending on the time. On to food: Udon. Surprisingly affordable and quite delicious udon! Kitsune(tofu skin) or tempura(shrimp) are both delicious though shrimp is probably my favorite. Sprinkle on some pepper and go to town! Sushi– It’s not a complete meal without a few pieces of ama-ebi(sweet shrimp) or tamago. Unless I’m with an extremely hungry person or I set out to have 15 plates all by myself, I quite enjoy popping in real quick for a light meal under $ 10. I’m typically in and out of this place in under 20 minutes.

Love this place. Order off the menu directly with computerized service instead of searching for rolls on the conveyor belt. Food is fresher that way. Order 15 plates to earn a cute little prize. Its either a sushi magnet or phone plug. Faves: crunchy roll, cucumber salad, and any salmon on rice, calamari, fried chicken For 2.25 a plate this is a fun and affordable place to eat.

The wait for this place is horrendous. I think we waited almost 45 minutes to be seated. Good thing is that once you’re seated, you can immediately start eating. There are some specific dishes that aren’t on the belt(the baked scallop/volcano roll) that are made to special order. Do not forget to neglect those items. The cute plates with the toys are super addicting too. Every 15 plates gets you a small toy. We had our fill of 15 and when I opened the toy, I discovered that I got the magnet which I didn’t care for. I was banking on the cellphone keychain sushi. I forced everyone in my table to assist with another 15 plates and finally got the cellphone keychain. Just remember that not all dishes counts towards the 15(such as mochi). The waitress asked if we seriously decided to eat more just to get the toy, and shamefully I said yes because I didn’t get what I wanted initially. She offered to trade me with me and I got rid of the unwanted magnet. She really made my day!

We love Kula! This is hands-down my daughter’s favorite place to eat. The food is always fresh and she is entertained the whole meal which is great for Mom & Dad! Can get busy for dinner on weekends but just plan ahead!

So incredibly good and FUN! We went a a group of 6 — and we had to wait a little to get a table but as soon as we sat down we were eating in minutes. My 6 year old couldn’t get enough of the crunchy California roll — and my personal favorite that I have never had before was seared beef with yakiniku sauce and seared beef and umami oil — omg so delicious! My husband loved the Negi Toro and said it was like butter — and the fresh crab was amazing. Don’t leave without trying the Japanese buttered hot donuts with ice cream. And to make things even more fun(as if rotating sushi wasn’t fun enough) special orders zoomed right to your table — and when you had 15 plates — your table shows a fun video and then the kids get a tiny Japanese toy. We had 4 adults and two kids at our table and we spent about $ 100 — we were stuffed and the kids had a blast!

There is a great selection of sushi, and the conveyer belt system is really neat! Great place to have a casual, fun dinner with your friends. I HIGHLY recommend you trying the Japanese soy milk donut dessert. It was the most heavenly combination of hot, freshly fried dough, coated in sweet sticky honey and served with vanilla(or possibly honey flavored) ice cream. It was so perfect I almost cried. Please, try it. Also recommend the eel hand roll. The wagyu beef nigiri was underwhelming; it was overcooked and very chewy, but maybe you will have better luck with it. Our experience of their customer service was quite poor… they skipped us on the waiting list even though we were there at the time they told us to be there. When we complained about this, a waitress blamed us for not hearing our names being called three times. She emphasized this point repeatedly. It was a very uncomfortable situation, and it left a bad taste in our mouths. But overall, I care more about the food, and I thought the experience of eating here was entertaining, unique and totally enjoyable, so I gave this place five stars.

I love this place! Food is good and its so fun, and affordable. The revolving belt is great, and if you dont see what you want you can order fron the touch screen. I like the small plates, that way I can try everything. Japanese soy milk donuts for dessert are the best thing I have ever tasted. I would come back just for those! Service is good too, everyone is really nice. I can’t wait to go back!

This place is simply amazing. From the moment you sit down, you can start grabbing what you like. When you are finished with the plate, drop it down the plate slot which adds it to your bill. You can also place special orders via the touch screen monitor just above the table. Those orders will be delivered on the conveyor belt above the main belt. It’s an amazing setup that works very well. We ended up with 21 plates! You also get a gift dropped on your table from a machine above your table when you hit 15 plates. I LOVE this place!!!

My husband and I brought our nephews here and it was super fun. I actually was looking for this concept back in Japan but couldn’t find it. If you eat 15 plates and slide them into the slot, you get a short cartoon video and a toy! The nephews loved that. The 2nd belt is great if you just want to order food without having to wait for it on the rotating belt. The order system is pretty easy since the 8 year old was ordering all his favorites himself. The only problem is user error here. The lady sitting across the belt didn’t seem to understand that you just pop the lid open and take the plate. She tried to take the entire thing which ended up jamming the entire belt. Otherwise, it’s pretty easy to understand and use. I wish Chicago would get a place like this soon!

Yay! Kula finally brought the hi-tech setup from Japan! We went all the way from west LA to Laguna Hills just to experience the renovated hi-tech revolving sushi! I really enjoyed fun sushi dinner last night. This establishment is bigger than other locations I’ve been to(West LA, Brea, Torrance and little Tokyo) and very clean. They have 8 booths and sushi«bar» with about 10? chairs. The recent renovation added the second conveyor belt which is for the orders you place on the touch screen panel system at your table, win a prize based on the number of plates you eat(every 15 plates) and dish disposal system! The screen plays kawaii Samurai animations every often as you dispose the dishes in a slot that automatically counts your dishes! This new system helps the table to stay clean since you no longer have to build towers with dishes! Haha! Voice assistance is in Japanese but you can choose the language on the touch screen panel from English, Japanese and Chinese. If you love Hello Kitty like myself, go there by 10÷31÷15! They are giving HK prizes! This joint is definitely perfect for families with kids. There were 4 parties with little kids when I was there and they looked like they were having so much fun:) The quality of sushi is very good for a revolving sushi spot, which in general tends to be lower than non-revolving sushi bars. Too bad they don’t have my favorite engawa(halibut fin) nigiri, but they have wide selection of nigiris and rolls along with other cold and hot foods and desert! Their Tonkotsu ramen and crispy chicken are the bomb! You should try them! Servers are friendly and attentive. Hope they will renovate other locations close by my place too!

I love the new remodel, it’s like being served dinner by a giant slot machine. The plate slot is awesome, no more towers of dishes, the ordering system works amazingly well and if you eat enough you even get a small show on the ordering screen. Oh yeah, and the food is tasty and fresh, but let’s face it, this is my new chuck e cheeses.

Ever see the show or movie, The Jetsons? Um, this is where they would eat their sushi dinner, if they ate sushi on the show. It is super futuristic, fun, and animae-esk.(Don’t ask me what that means) You walk in and place your name and preference into their iPad. You will be notified via text your wait time and when you are ready to be seated. Once you are seated(at least for the bar), you have your little soy sauce(rs) [see what I did there?] in front of you, along with the soy sauce, napkins, chopsticks, and seasoning. If you haven’t been there, they will teach you how to grab your plate, because now they are encased in little clear(flying) saucers. [haha definitely futuristic and cracking myself up here] There is a touch screen in front of you where you can order what you want and the conveyor belt will zoom it your way from seconds to within a couple of minutes. While you are waiting, you can see what is on the lower conveyor belt to hold you over. When you have finished consuming one plate, you slip it down the slot in front of you, where the plates will be counted and totaled up on your touch screen in front of you. When you are done, you complete your order and they bring you your check. Service with this place is always hit or miss. Ask for your ginger and drinks right away. I would rate this 3 stars, but in essence, you get what you pay for. For 2.25 per plate, you can get some pretty good finds. Granted, I have never tried the sashimi(I am too scared). But I stick with the safe stuff, like spicy tuna crunch roll, popcorn shrimp(not the roll), spicy shrimp taco, crispy rice with spicy tuna, and rainbow roll. The freshness can be hit or miss, but always at least average. Also, if you order it fresh through the touch screen, then you should be fine. This is a fun, and good little lunch place, while on a budget.

MYNEWFAVORITESUSHISPOT~Not only is it unique and all techie, service is amazingly attentive. Our servers were excellent and exceptionally quick. As soon as we push the assistance button on our screen, they arrive shortly thereafter. We were told it is newly renovated, a little over a month ago and it is unlike the one in Irvine. This location has all the technology and fancy electronic amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience! A friend brought us here for dinner the other night and it was such a FUN dining experience!!! Our kids loved it and the sushi and udon dishes were all delicious! If you’re lucky enough to arrive and be seated right away, excellent! If you have to wait, look around and watch the revolving sushi and how the diners select their items. It’s a site to behold if you’re a first-timer like myself. First, check in on the gadget-like-ipad/tablet. It tells you how many minutes to be seated. Once led to your seat, you’ll pass a row of booths and the sushi bar with a vast and wide window that separates you from the sushi chefs. Once seated, your host/hostess will explain how to dispose of each dish, how to lift the green plates gently and the lid pops open automatically to release your sushi sampler plate, each plate was about $ 2.50 I can’t recall~ but so inexpensive to get 2 – 3 pieces of your sushi item. If you do NOT see your item you want, peruse the digital menu tablet above the revolving belt and you can select your udon or shrimp tempura, volcano roll(my favorite of the night) and your desserts like mochi and this amazingly perfect soy fried donuts… Yummmmmy… also explained is this for every 5 green plates you dispose down the chute at your table, a little cartoon pops up on your screen. Then for every 15 green dishes disposed you will receive a cute little prize. We received a sushi charm my son let me have(for my phone.). It was such a fun and relaxing dining experience. I really loved our company and our visit here! Maybe I am easily impressed, whatever the case, it is a unique and fun dining experience. I wouldn’t seat younger kids by the food necessarily unless you are watching them closely to mind their little hands. It is definitely enthralling to watch from sitting down to the time we left the restaurant. I know I left very full and very content. My son even tried a couple new sushi items because he was that curious. Definitely will return! Can’t wait!

Bleh is the word that describes everything I ate here. Each plate is $ 2.50, which may initially seem cheap. but each plate is so tiny. I ordered a bowl of ramen($ 5) which tasted worse than the instant ramen I make at home. I also got 1 sushi plate from the revolving bar. The description of the roll sounded really yummy, but honestly that plate tasted like it was sitting out there for way too long. Sooo I decided to not waste anymore money on food that tastes like leftover sushi. I went to get more food somewhere else after my meal at Kula. The Kula at Diamond Jamboree in Irvine is much better. This location is pretty depressing and didn’t have enough customers. If there were more people eating there, the sushi on the revolving bar might’ve tasted more fresh if the kitchen was constantly preparing new plates. Definitely not returning.
