Klein Property Management

Klein property management is probably the worst company I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. I live in Costa mesa at maple apartments at 1919 maple ave. I have tried reaching put many times regarding my upstairs neighbor in apartment 8 who constantly pounds on the walls and stomps on the ground at all hours of the night because another neighbor snores very loudly. That neighbor is also violating several of the terms in the rental agreement including growing weed in his apartment, smokes cigarettes and weed on the balcony even though its a no smoking property. I'm absolutely fed up and they need to kick that guy out already!

My family and I were tenants of Klein for over six years and just moved last month. Carol, Brian and Lisa do a great job and we would recommend them to both property owners and prospective tenants. Repair requests are filed online and they promptly helped us when the water heater died on Christmas Eve last year. :)

I had an excellent experience with Klein properties unlike the other reviews said. They were very professional and helped me find exactly what I needed. We worked with Brian and I highly recommend him very helpful and friendly. I will always use Klein properties for any of property needs.

Klein property management was very helpful to me!!! A friend had recommended them because I was moving to South Orange County and they really helped with the stress of finding a new house. Brian answered any question I had and always returned my calls promptly! I would definitely recommend using Klein property management if you want to make your time finding a house or apartment less stressful!!!

In dealing with Klein Properties I have nothing but good things to say about this company. I dealt with Brian Klein personally. He was genuinely kind and attentive with utmost professionalism. Being in the same industry I was throughly impressed. Thank you Brian!

Carol, barely ever returns your phone calls or emails. Once the contract is signed you will never get your questions answered and she totally ignores your e-​mails. Very unprofessional!
She has better employees than herself, but regardless she is the one managing the company!

BOTTOM LINE IS CAROL KLEIN IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND LACKING ETIQUETTE FOR A PROPERTY MANAGER IN BUSINESS FOR OVER 20 YEARS… Read below for details.
In searching for a new place to move into we came across a beautiful condo listed on Zillow. We made initial contact on the listing 3 hours after it was posted and I left a voice mail for Carol Klein, the property manager listed on Zillow. Because it was such a perfect condo for my girlfriend and I, I made sure to follow up with a contact email through Zillow and the Klein Properties website. This was last Thursday.
I first received a call back from Carol on Friday, which I was pleased to hear back from her so quickly. She was to the point about scheduling a viewing of the condo and so I was able to set an appointment for the next day on Saturday at 11:30. On Saturday I received a call from Carol an hour before our appointment stating the she could not locate the keys to the listed condo, which are typically kept at her office and so she would need to cancel the appointment and keep my number until she could find the keys… Okay, a little disappointing but not a huge deal. Because it was Easter weekend I knew we likely wouldn’t hear back from her until Monday and so later Saturday I called and left Carol a voice mail stating we drove by the listing and regardless of seeing the inside (which there were plenty of pictures of) we wanted to submit our applications and credit apps and make an offer.
The weekend passes by and it’s Monday and have not received a call back by 3:15 pm at which time I call again and leave another message stating our interest and that because we are vacationing next week we really only have about 2 weeks to secure a place before our lease is up. This brings us to today, still not getting a return call I call Carol again on her office line from my work phone, SHE ANSWERS! I politely re-​introduce myself and ask for some feedback on where we were at and if she had located the keys yet, to which she shortly replied she had not. At this point I explain I am getting frustrated with a lack of communication and that we really would like to proceed with making an offer to which she replied «well we have 3 applications received already but you can submit one if you want to.» as if I hadn’t put enough interest in she cops a condescending attitude. at this point I level with her bluntly stating she has not been a very professional property manager setting an appointment for a listed Condo with no keys to show it! She then explains she typically doesn’t look at an application until showing the property and yet she has 3 applications already? At this point she had become very condescending after I stated she had not been good with communicating with me or not having the keys to show. I ended with stating her Unilocal reviews are consistent with her unprofessional-​ism and I told her I was no longer interested.
I never rant and typically laugh off these long reviews on Unilocal but I had about as poor of an experience as you can have with trying to see this place, especially for someone who was been in business as long as Carol has.

Signed with this company and just like the last person wrote, be aware. Our house was empty for months and we couldn’t understand why until a neighbor that lived one street up found my cell phone through a mutual contact. They had a family interested and called Klein Properties twice and never got a return call, so she reached me directly. I thought it was weird that someone else came by to do a walk through when we were doing some cosmetics to the house and said the same story. They called the # listed on the sign in front of my house, but nobody returned their call too. I decided to play detective by having my sister pretend she was interested in my house. Guess what, she too never got a return call. We called Carol on this and told her we were now paying double rent and lost revenue from an empty house and we caught her. Not only did she swear at my husband & hung up on him, she ended up calling back and agreed to terminate our contract. She refunded a partial our money.
Go with referrals. If you’re trying to rent out your place, you want someone or some company to place the ads, return the calls/​emails and get your place rented as fast as possible. If this company can’t do the basic step of returning phone calls, what else is lacking?
We ended up renting and managing our place by ourselves and it turned out just fine.
