Rich Low Hair At Serandi Salon

Wow what a great find! FINALLY we found someone who does GREAT styling and color for men. My husband is sooo HAPPY, and so am I! Rich colored it with a sun bleached look and styled it long, exactly what my husband was hoping for. My husband has been through several stylist and each time it has been a disappointment, but not this time. Rich knows what he is doing, that is for sure! Yay!

Rich was recommended by a friend. I have really thick hair and its hard to get a good cut. I had the best haircut I ever! My hair was so much lighter and so easy to style. Thank you!

I came to Serandi and got my hair done by Rich. It was a much needed haircut and I’m so glad I came out for it. Rich is a professional with years of experience and I am definitely going to return. He is an artist and I totally trust him with my hair! The salon is also right by the beach so that’s an extra bonus!

I first got a cut from Richard in 2008 right before I moved to Los Angeles. The cut and color were so amazing that I continued to drive to Orange County to get my hair done. I’ve tried a few different stylists in Los Angeles (for the sake of convenience) and truly, no one has compared. I trust him so completely with my hair that whenever I go, I just tell him to do whatever he wants. Every single time, it ends up being the best haircut of my life. He’s kind and personable, and reasonably priced… even for someone who’s driving an hour and a half to see him. My mom, my aunt, my cousin, and her daughter now all get their hair cut from Richard, and they all agree – he’s the best.

Richard has been cutting my hair for over 15 years now. I’ve followed him around from salon to salon and even flew into town once a quarter, when I lived out of the country. I love the way he cuts my hair and I especially love the compliments I get after he’s given me my latest cut and style. He is a great guy and an artist with his shears, a local «Edward Scissorhands»!

Great stylist with a professional manner and super, super excellent with color. I had my hair done this weekend and couldn’t have been more thrilled with the color and cut.

Out of the many stylists at salons I’ve frequented in Laguna Beach, Rich is by far the most thoughtful and precise hair technician. I am very protective of my long hair which has taken years to grow, and Rich is incredibly considerate of my styling requests and knows exactly how to make my hair look healthy again without taking much length off. He recently, and expertly, fixed my botched/​choppy layering job (resulting from a different stylist) and my hair has never looked better despite the uneven mess I presented him with. I am also extremely picky when it comes to coloring, though Rich executes the natural, sun-​highlighted look like no other stylist I’ve encountered. I’ve been consistently pleased with my hair after visiting Rich and have recommended him to several friends. He is versatile and experienced and never disappoints.

I have been having Rich cut my hair for over 10 years. He does a great job with men’s hair and he is willing to fit me into his schedule when possible to fit my schedule. He is a great person too and really cares about his craft!

Richard has been cutting my hair for over a decade. I stumbled upon him as a walk in at another salon when I moved to Laguna Niguel. His attention to detail was second to none and I loved my haircut. When I returned home, my wife asked where I got the cut and promptly told me never to go anywhere else. She also has become a 12 year client of his. Her friends always rave about her color and cuts. If you want the best, you must see Richard. You won’t be disappointed.

Richard has been my hair stylist and colorist for years. I have tried other salons closer to my house but find that his perfection and professionalism are worth my drive to Laguna Beach (plus the salon parking is super easy). He is dedicated to his career and always makes sure his color and cut techniques stay «cutting edge». Richard is never rushed and always spends the amount of time necessary to make sure each client leaves with hair perfection.
In addition to my hair, my husband and two boys also rely on Richard. He does the most amazing men and teenage boys cuts. No one can accomplish the final styling perfection like Richard. My husband once called him at the last minute before attending formal event asking him if he could run by the salon for a last minute styling. It only took Richard a minute or two to create the final look but somehow Richard has magic fingers for whooshing up a little hair pomade to create the perfect tousled short hair look.
Richard has superb training and it’s evidenced by each customer that sits in his salon chair.

Rich is located in the beautiful Serandi Salon. I really like the feel of this place. Friendly, yet professional; warm and inviting. Parking is downstairs in the building which is always a nice plus in Laguna. The owner is wonderful and has done a great job stocking the shelves with excellent products. The interior is nicely designed and maintained.
I have been going to Rich for 15 years. Since I have short hair, I go every six weeks or so. I have extremely difficult hair to cut as it’s thick and wiry; most people in the past have made mincemeat out of it. Rich’s extensive training by exclusive cut and color experts (Toni&Guy, etc.) gives him a large repertoire of techniques from which to choose when he approaches your hair. The proof in the pudding is the compliments I receive frequently about my hair. Other stylists have asked me who does my hair and have commented on the perfection of the cut. I have referred many friends to Rich over the years and have only heard rave reviews.
In terms of working with Rich, he makes it easy with my busy schedule. I actually text him the dates and times I’d like to come in (I book months in advance, three cuts at a time), and he replies with either an ok for those times or suggests a close replacement if he is already booked. I really enjoy how he works with me and communicates in whatever way is easiest for me. I like that I don’t have to call in to the salon front desk and talk to someone else to book an appointment. I can talk to him directly to determine how much time we’ll need or anything else pertinent to my next service.
While everyone has their own experience and opinion, I can’t help but comment on another reviewer’s reference to Rich being a «renter» in the salon, as if that is a negative. Actually renters have their own long term clientele, so they don’t need to depend on the salon to provide walk-​ins to them. They run their own independent businesses and their success depends on them being talented and customer service oriented. You can’t stay successful in business for decades by not being good at what you do. I believe that the renting of chairs by hair stylists is an indication of their long-​term success.
My teenage daughters now also go to Rich and they have long hair which he cuts beautifully. Furthermore, Rich is called upon by our local resort hotels when they have large parties (weddings, etc.) requiring hair cuts/​colors/​styles for many people. These resorts call on the best of the best and would not call on Rich if his end product wasn’t extremely appreciated by those staying at these high end resorts. Finally, I’d like to point out that Rich is proud of the work he does. He posts many of his hair results on his Facebook page and Instagram. Rich is unquestionably the most talented hairstylist I’ve encountered. He is extremely creative and very professional. Unlike others in his field he seeks out and pursues advanced training from top experts. As for the negative review given below, i find it curious that no proof such as before and after photos are provided. Pics of her hair were taken and posted — if she was so unhappy at the outset why would she allow that at all? And if she prefers the talents of Sergio then why didn’t she see him instead? Perhaps one day salons, like physicians, will sadly have to resort to the use of waiver forms to prevent any unhappy neurotic person from making unfounded accusations after misleading the stylist or having completely unrealistic expectations about their hair/​appearance (which all stylists will tell you is extremely common) Until then stylists and salons are left to assert civil defamation claims against anyone slandering them w unsupported allegations.

First, let me make clear this review is NOT a reflection on the wonderful Serandi Salon or the amazing owner/​stylist, Sergio. Rich (as I found out after the fact) is a «rental» and not affiliated with Sergio or his brand.
I arrived to see Rich with lovely long hair and two simple requests: I felt it had gotten a bit too brassy and wanted the warmth toned down, and the shape evened up with the ends pieced out a bit more (with NO length removed). I left (after two days, I had to come back in Sunday for him to fix Saturday’s debacle and he made it even WORSE!) with hair 4″ shorter (I measured), chopped blunt on sides and back, and bizarrely jagged in front.
Furthermore, I ended up with two tone hair that is striped brassy bleach (I begged him not to use bleach but to use color lift as I know my hair and the look I want, and he argued with me for 30 min!) top and dark underneath (and btw the stripes don’t even go near my scalp). Basically, I have the Southern California version of an early Billy Ray Cyrus mullet. Freaking fantastic!
Now all my long flowing hair is gone – and it’s not even a pretty cut with nice ends. It looks like it was chopped off with a buzz saw (at one point I asked to see the back and he had hacked a sawtooth pattern in it – I asked him to please fix it – keep in mind, I had said NO LENGTH OFF, just piece out the ends and shape evened – and off came 2 more inches). And did I mention how frightening the color is?
And Rich then charged me $ 230 for the pleasure of this experience, plus was extremely rude to me and ARGUED WITH EVERYTHING I said or requested. Maybe he was wearing cotton in his ears, or maybe he had a really rough night, but the bottom line is: HE DOES NOT LISTEN. He was even saying I’d said things that I had not. It was bizarre.
First time I’ve left a salon in tears in over a decade. And I’m not sure if it was more how awful my hair looked or how terrible the experience was. I’m giving it a month of hats and ponytails so my hair can grown/​repair, then going back to the wonderful Sergio so he can work his magic.

I have thick Asian hair that apparently nobody else knows how to cut. I LOVE the way Rich texturizes it, layers it, and thins it for me. The way it naturally falls after his cuts is unmatched! I have never had anybody do such an amazing job as Rich. He goes to continuing education courses to stay up to date on the latest techniques and styles. He has worked with my hair at all different lengths, from chin length to mid back, and he delivers exactly what I expect every time. There’s nothing better than having a talented, trusting stylist to make my hair look great, no matter what style I choose! I’ve recently moved to North Carolina for school, but I wait until I go home now to have my hair cut by Rich because he’s the Best!
