Went to LaGrange for work and asked around for a local recommendation and we were told to go here. Very cool concept as the restaurant is in an old church. It’s only open for lunch and they were super busy! The menu is fairly simple and all Southern. You pick one out of six or so choices of protein and 3 sides or 2 with a dessert. Pretty fair price for $ 10. Very little décor, simple seating arrangements and nonchalant service. The food was okay. My chicken was super rubbery and it was actually my first time having that type of texture with chicken. I was really disappointed. I don’t think I’d go back, but I did see a lot of people enjoy their meals.

It is such a shame that these reviews are so misleading. The food was so bad, it made me angry! The chicken was dry and drenched in some mayonnaise and cheese filled sauce and the sides(rice and greens) had absolutely no flavor. This must be another restaurant that stays afloat because of «tradition».

In old church downtown. Great true southern food! Best fried pork chops! Had everything on menu. Go early. Only opened from 11 – 2.

Just had lunch here after googling meat and three in LaGrange. GPS does not take you to the correct location, but it’s worth calling for good directions. Food was excellent! Good southern cooking. Roast beef, creamed corn, pineapple casserole were good choices. So good, we got 2 more plates to go for dinner. Quaint, historical church is nice. Nothing fancy, just comfortable.

I come here for lunch often and I absolutely love this place. It’s housed inside of an old church and the seating kind of reminds me of church luncheons. The menu is very concise, but the offerings change daily. Usually I’ll order an entrée and then you have the option of choosing 3 side items. My favorite entrée here is there poppy seed chicken and I always get a side of mac and cheese, fried okra and hopefully they have the cranberry apple granola. It’s like a tangy spiced apple with granola crust and served warm. Best dessert ever. The place is normally pretty busy, but the service is fast.

It’s a great concept. Nothing frilly. Food is good(pot pie). Server wasn’t the most engaged and the décor could use a little touch up. Everything seemed monochromatic and matched the food on the plate. The art on the walls could have given the space some much needed color. Needs a new sign out front — claimed to offer gifts and antiques of which there were none.

We stopped here on a Saturday afternoon. It was fantastic. The restaurant is in an old church. Very pretty and airy on a hot summer day. The food was served promptly and it was great. My daughter had chicken and dumplings, my wife ordered salmon croquettes, and I went for the country-fried steak. All three were excellent, though I will order the chicken and dumplings next time. Lunch comes with three vegetable sides. I had creamed potatoes, lima beans, and pineapple casserole. The lima beans were very good and the casserole was wonderful. In short, we all enjoyed our food. What made it all even better was the friendliness of the owner and staff. We were treated very well. We will definitely eat there again.

This restaurant is wonderful. It has a great family feel and the food is good and southern. They have a few different choices of meats, which are all excellent, and a bunch of different vegetables to choose from. You get either a meat and 3 vegetables or a meat, 2 vegetables, and pineapple casserole. Each come with a piece of some of the best cornbread I’ve ever had. Everyone I went with got something different and we all loved our meal. I will probably become a regular here.

Southern country cooking is easy to find all over the south. This is the best I’ve ever had(sorry, Grandma). Four of us ordered a wide variety on the menu and shared. Everything was simply fabulous. The cook made none of the classic mistakes of this type of fare. I dread the over cooking and too much bacon grease you usually find with similar menus. Wish I lived closer so I could eat there several times a week. Service wasn’t top notch or I’d have given it 5 stars.
