My friends and I love this place! The service is always great, and we adore the food. My family also loves this place, and we would recommended it to anyone we know.

Great place for Japanese! Great rolls, miso, bento boxes. Absolutely love the Golden State roll! Service is great, was in their on a Thursday evening for dinner with my family and they kept getting bombarded with more and more tables but they still took great care of us!

This is our favorite place for Japanese food in Colorado. We live in Boulder and drive about 10 miles to get here, past all the fancier(aka pricier and more pretentious) Japanese places in Boulder to get here.(The exception is the excellent and newly opened My Ramen & Izakaya in Boulder, which is owned by the same lady as Udon Kaisha – they’re sister restaurants and both excellent!) They make a good vegetarian ramen, with a miso broth, and their sushi is great.(We usually get yellowtail and garlic albacore.)

We visited this place twice when it first opened and were a little disappointed. Recently we gave Udon Kaisha another try and i’m so glad that we did! The house special ramen(I prefer the shoyu broth) is top-notch. I’ve only tried a few sushi rolls but all were fresh and high quality. We’ve also tried the fried rice, which is very tasty. The cucumbers in vinegar/sugar(?) they bring you at the beginning are intriguing. We’ve never had anything but excellent service here. Really great and such a treat to have in this Lafayette neighborhood.

I really enjoyed the food at Udon Kaisha. Both my wife and my meal was very well prepared and the service was equally well delivered.

A hidden jewel in a retail strip. It’s a small place with some very good Japanese food. We had the shrimp bento box with miso soup, sushi rolls(California, spicy shrimp, salmon) and the sweet corn ramen in a veg soup base. We ended the meal with Xango, a deep fried cheese cake. The atmosphere was a nice family one with average noise levels. I will definitely come back.

Went there today for lunch after having a doc appointment in the area. I ordered the chicken katsu curry and my partner ordered the unagi don, and some sushi. The sushi was alright, had the spicy shrimp and philly roll. The chicken katsu curry was nasty, I am not sure what kind of curry roux they were using but it was gross, and it was no where near the consistency of gravy as its supposed to be. The unagi don was small and mostly filled to the brim with garnishes with just a tiny bit of unagi and rice. The service was great, she was very friendly, but I don’t see myself going back anytime soon.

My wife and I came here spontaneously, A great hole in the wall. Cheap prices for amazing food. Never felt like we we’re a burden to our waitress. She was very sweet and helpful. Many choices for gluten free. Labeled very well. And gluten free soy sauce. We will definitely be coming back here soon!

HORRIBLESERVICE!!! Service so incredibly bad. This is the second time I and my husband have WALKEDOUT. We’re reasonable folks. The food is decent here. Here’s the dealio; they have ONE girl who answers the phone for take-out orders, waits on approximately 20 tables and checks people out when paying. We were waiting for her to take our order while she was on the phone taking orders. No one seems to care… are people ONGLUE here?! This is a business!!! THEREISNOSERVICETOBEHADHERE. DON’T GO if you expect any sort of service. Go to Spice China instead.

The ramen here was delicious and the service was great. We will stop by again soon when we are much hungrier to get some appetizers, the table next to us had gyoza that looked really good!

Artfully prepared sushi. The«trust me» special was fresh and delicious and so well seasoned. Save room for the fried cheesecake. It is also a work of art

Awesome food, great prices, and excellent service. I love their ramen soups. I recommend the spicy pork with shoyu broth. It’s only $ 8 and will definitely fill you up. Nothing beats it when you have a cold. For appetizer I really like the chicken gyoza pan fried. They also start you off with these delicious cucumbers in some sort of sweet vinegar. The décor is pretty basic but that’s no problem with me. It’s casual and I like it for that. The waitress that has been there every time for me is really fast and nice. Check them out.

Second time back to this place since we wanted something local and close by… Thurs evening around 7pm, place was empty except for one other table, so we thought, hmmm… But the staff, like before, were very friendly and the place was clean. Service was very prompt and so was the food, one advantage of not having too many customers… We were very impressed with the food and quality of the items we ordered! * Takoyaki — octopus balls, flavorful little balls with pieces of octopus… hubby said they could have been a little hotter but still, delicious. * Ika Yaki — grilled squid, generous size, nice and flavorful * House Ramen(miso) — definitely a must try! Noodles just right consistency. * Yellowtail collar — thick piece of yellowtail… we had to take it home as we had way too much food, but looking forward to eating it for lunch! Grilled just right with teriyaki type sauce on side * Sushi — spicy salmon roll, Manhattan Roll?(seared salmon and white fish on top, eel inside, tempura crunch, masago sprinkles and sweet sauce), egg… all were very delicious with lots of fish! All the food was nicely presented, generous in portions and enjoyed thoroughly!!! Extensive menu, lots of variety, so much more to try… glad we came back again since it’s been over 2 years since our first visit. We really enjoyed our dinner and are looking forward to coming back!

Wait staff was friendly, but unfortunately, I was not impressed with the flavor or quality of food that I ordered. I ordered a spider/soft shell crab roll and miso soup. I don’t think this was a $ 12 roll, should be $ 8. Was expecting the crab to be warm inside as it was deep fried, but it was on the colder side. I recommend sticking with a bento box or udon as opposed to their«specialty» rolls.

We tried this place for the first time today. I am a pescetarian(I am a vegetarian who eats fish) and my boyfriend is a vegetarian. We weren’t sure how we’d fare at a place that was primarily Japanese, because it’s often harder to find items we can eat. But, we were pleasantly surprised by the clearly labeled menu offering plenty of veggie options. For drinks, I had a cup of hot green tea and he had a strawberry-banana milkshake. The tea was really nothing special, just plain tea. The smoothie, however, was very tasty. If we had to guess, we’d say it was mostly fresh fruit and some ice. We started with a Hot Terrific roll. It’s a vegetarian sushi roll with fried jalapeño and cream cheese inside, topped with avocado and crunchy bits. They put a drizzle of a couple different tasty sauces on it, too. It was GREAT! My BF has only had«sushi» one or two times before, and never liked it. He loved this and said he’d eat it anytime. Next, we both had the vegetable ramen with miso broth, minus the egg. I added a shrimp tempura, fish cakes and shiitake mushrooms to mine, and thought it was perfect for the rainy day. They provide hot pepper powder and chili oil on the tables for seasoning. Good food and nice service = we will definitely go back!

Udon Kaisha is genuine, authentic, and served with re al smiles. I was born and raised in Thailand and know what a real smile looks like. No fake ones here. Best eel avocado roll in USA. Super awesome waiter and waitress. Requests for extra wasabi and ginger, always served immediately with an authentic smile. P. S. Runners eat here for high quality protein post run.

Not a great sushi place, but a very good Japanese food place. They’re too far out of the way to have good sushi, but everything else they have is pretty tasty. I recommend.

Three Cheers for Groupon! My bf bought the groupon because we just love trying new places and WOW were we not disappointed. We had such a lovely meal here! Started with the miso and tempura which were good. Not unlike what you get other places. Their rolls were fresh and delicious! We had the Bangkok with was spicy, light, and so fresh with the cilatron and jalapeño! Also ordered the jumbo spider roll and the soft shell crab in there was close your mouth and savor good! We had just come from working out and didn’t want to order dessert but did so we could hit our Groupon total and WOWWWW talk about divine intervention. We got the Mango Rangoons per the server recommendation and HOLYSWEETBABYJESUS was that good! I wanted to hate them since I had just spent an hour working out but we were literally stabbing each others hands with forks over who got the last one. I love love love when restaurants surprise me. They were freaking amazing! Suggestion for the owner: Put them on your regular menu. not just as a monthly special! These are the reason we’ll be coming back over and over again! Excellent meal all around!
