Have never had a bad experience. The fajitas are great! Very delicious flavor, and lots of meat with them. They actually sizzle when they come to your table. Limes are always fresh here, and the waitresses are always pleasant. Will keep on returning!

I was pretty disappointed in our dinner here tonight. The service was good and we grabbed a table right away, but the food left much to be desired. The lime wedges, chips, and salsa come complimentary and those tasted fine. I enjoyed the taste of this so my hopes were up that this was going to be a good experience. Not to mention I hear constant praise about this place from co-workers, but we were mistaken. We ordered cheese dip for an appetizer and it came in a huge bowl. There was nothing special about this cheese dip and I would not order it again. My husband ordered the al pastor tacos(Mexican style) and he was extremely disappointed. They were beyond greasy and the flavor was SO bland. If you want some great Mexican style tacos in town you can get them at El Chicano or the Lkora food truck for a much better taste and experience. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas. They were stuffed with just shrimp – no veggies, cheese, or anything. They were covered in this green sauce that I did not enjoy at all. I’m not a huge sour cream lover, but I found myself dipping my bites into this just for some flavor – which is not a good sign. They do not have margaritas, daiquiris, or any other mixed drinks. Beer Only. The price was good($ 24 total) but we will not be returning. Lafayette & West Lafayette offer so many different Mexican restaurants and this would probably be at the very bottom of my list.

I’m from out of town and seen all the reviews about how good this place was and i was very disappointed. The rice water tasted like sugar milky water. I got the tacos and the cheese on there looked and tasted like cheddar cheese the beans had what looked like the regular white Chihuahua cheese. The only reason i gave two stars was because the serves was decent. But all in all not impressed.

I opened an account just so I could sing this places praises. Authentic delicious food, fast friendly service, and the price is right. So glad we went a little out of our way on our road trip to check out this gem. Wish I had Mexican food like this where I come from!

This is the best tasting Mexican food in the Lafayette area. Simply fantastic. However, in the 3 times I’ve been there, the service is brutally bad.

Went to eat lunch here a few days ago. I thought the interior looked good, very clean and homey. Their tortilla chips were sturdy ones and gave more crunch. I ordered orcheta(sp?) which I liked, and beef flautas with Mexican rice and refried beans. Try as I might I couldn’t taste any seasoning to the beef flautas. Bland! I’ve had those in other places and they aren’t supposed to be bland. I am willing to return and try some other dishes. The prices are reasonable.

Authentic! I went in and followed the«seat yourself» sign on a Sunday 7pm-9pm visit. We had a server in very normal time to get us drinks and brought us the complimentary chips, lime wedges, and mild salsa. I ordered water with lemon, she asked if lime was ok. I said yes observant this authentic place has no lemons, lime it is! That was totally fine. Our waitress kept returning for our order but I was struggling through the menu and there are great Unilocal reviews but not many photos, certainly not ones listing WHAT it was a photo of. I used my phone to translate words to English. The menu had some photos, with about only half of those photos listing what the photo was. I do not speak or read in Spanish. This is MYPROBLEM, not theirs… But I had no idea what sides came with stuff or not, as well as what came one all things I was fumbling through on the three page menu…(menu, smart phone, menu, smart phone… Translations. *blush*). So I did what everyone else would after 20 minutes… I ordered Tacos. The tacos come with your meat choice & listed as topped with cilantro and onions. I could read that part and I love chorizo and knew what that one was! At the bottom of the taco meat choices is an option for«extras: lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream — $ 0.29» which is per taco. I think we all can afford that if we want it. I ordered two tacos. First, a chorizo taco only cilantro, no onions. Second, a pollo(chicken) taco with again no onions and please add to that one only the«extras» for the 29 cents. My tacos were delicious, but my order was incorrect. There were no onions(for that I would return my food which I hate doing but I HATE raw onions). But BOTH my tacos had the extras on it(and I was charged and did NOT mention it or return my food over 29 cents. Anyone to do something like that I feel«shame on them!»). I really did want my chorizo taco only cilantro. I did not get the tomato that was included in the extras either and did kinda want tomato on my chicken taco. I was charged the 29 cents for«extras» on BOTH tacos. I didn’t even say a peep to them because I feel that the food was delicious still and even though my order was incorrect being both tacos, no tomatoes, and charged for it… So delicious. My meal with tip was still under $ 6. I certainly was NOT going to complain. But I struggled through the menu and they struggled to get a no onion order and«extras on just the chicken» taco correct including the tomatoes. We had a language barrier both ways. But, the best Mexican places I am aware of this and the respect they give customers I also feel should be returned from customers to the people serving us. The minor order errors did not hurt my food or visit. My tacos were so amazing I would absolutely return! I can’t wait to actually. Also, the pricing overall(even if they charge for taco toppings) was very affordably cheap to me. Totally awesome authentic food, service, and excellent pricing — especially for what you get and how much! The portions weren’t huge, but we’re not small. You aren’t getting your meat like Taco Bell or Subway(haha, I had to point out the fast food lacking comparison). This place is certainly somewhere I recommend. It was so authentically delicious and even if you somehow don’t like it, you won’t go broke here at all. Tip: try the sauces they bring out in the squirt bottles with your food. I loved the green one! So hot on my(chicken) pollo taco. Yummy! Tip2: order simple or all extras or all not on tacos/special orders if you can’t speak Spanish. Keep your life and theirs simple. Your food WILL be delicious. Food: 4 Service: 4 Ambiance: 4 Overall Experience regardless of small stuff not worth sweating over: 4 Price: 5(very affordable yummy place!) I’ll return and can’t wait. Hooray for tacos!

I feel kind of bad giving this place a 2 star review, and in reality it would be more like a 2.5, but honestly that’s just how I felt about it. I expected a lot more out of an authentic place like this than what we got, especially since 90% of the patrons were Hispanic. That was a good sign, but it was a huge letdown. The place wasn’t exactly the cleanest I’ve ever been in, to start off… it wasn’t bad in that regard, just not great. The service wasn’t the greatest either… I felt a little unwelcome because one of the ladies working kept shooting glances over at our booth. She probably does that to everyone… I didn’t take it personally, it was just a little unnerving for some reason. The food was the main letdown. My dad’s food was alright… he ordered posole(although at first they brought him out some random other soup, then replaced it later after realizing) and said it was alright, not the best but not bad. He also got a taco de cabeza, which I thought was a little too fatty, and a gordita, which was probably the best thing I tasted of what we ordered. My mom and I both got enchiladas, and I don’t know if it was just that those weren’t this place’s speciality, or what… maybe none of the regular patrons actually order enchiladas, who knows, but they were very subpar. They skimped majorly on the sauce, but the main problem was the cheese inside… they didn’t cook it at all. It was just cold shredded cheese(monterey jack?) in a corn tortilla with virtually no sauce to speak of. It wasn’t melted or anything… just in there. I realize enchiladas probably aren’t this place’s speciality, and shouldn’t have ordered them in hindsight, but come on… they were just kinda gross as a result of not being cooked and not having ample sauce. Also, there was cheese on top that I hope and pray was cotija but am 95% sure was Kroger brand powdered parmesan cheese. Parmesan? What on earth. The beans were just kinda there. The rice was really good though. Other than the gordita that was the thing that I enjoyed. I was sad to say that I didn’t enjoy my experience here. I should’ve ordered something different, and I feel like if I lived closer I might give this place a second chance… but there are so many other Mexican places around it that I might not make it back.

This is a very decent, authentic Mexican restaurant. It’s pretty cheap. The service is good, though sometimes with a little attitude(just that one waitress…). It’s pretty clean. I eat a very restricted range of Mexican dishes(hate guacamole, sour cream, beans, and tomatoes), so this review is based on the tortillas(obviously homemade), rice(quite tasty), and seafood items(shrimp/fish tacos). The cebollitas are also really good. I’ve been there quite a few times and they’re really consistent. I’d recommend this place, as it’s much better than most Lafayette-area restaurants.

I teeter between two or four stars because I’m wondering why aren’t there Margaritas??! I have heard many other customers asking the same question. Everything I have tasted here has been good to great in flavor. I get the food court feel when I am here due to the location. I often wonder why they don’t update the location or the appearance to cater to a more upscale crowd considering the quality. At this point I consider it a delicious must visit lunch location. I feel that with a few updates and a full Mexican themed drink menu it could be the premier choice for Mexican cuisine in the area.

In my opinion these guys are los campeones among all the Mexican restaurants in town. Easily the best tacos in town. A couple could order one of each taco and chips and guac and not break the bank. Check out the coctel de camarron(spelling?). Refreshing and tasty with a little hot sauce. Big, tasty burritos, perfect Chile rellenos. Yes, it’s tempting just to go to the closest Mexican restaurant, but really make your way to Eastway Plaza and check them out.

Tacos-great. I had the steak tacos and they were nice and crisp, the corn tortillas were also a good choice. Guacamole-ok. It’s a little watered down. Don’t get the big bowl, stick with a side. Service-friendly, but a bit slow. Had to wait a while to get drinks and also for our check. Never got drinks refilled either.

We came here on a busy Sunday night right before a line started at the door. We sat down and they got us started on chips and salsa immediately. Servers were friendly and food was excellent. The tacos have a generous amount of protein and so do the sopes. At $ 1.79 a taco it was an awesome deal. We’ll be back for sure!

Went here because of good reviews. Very disappointed. I ordered take out tacos and burritos. Taco was OK but neither of us could finish the burritos. We had to wait in front of the kitchen and it was not the cleanest place. Couple bugs and it kinda ruined our appetite. Would never come back.

One of my favorite place to eat authentic Mexican food. We went there but had no veg option on menu, so my husband asked them if they can make something vegetarian. The staff was so good, they made so delicious Mexican food that we became fan of that place. They know how to deal with their customers. Very happy with the staff and service they gave us.

Our favorite place to grab a bite to eat and have a good time in the Lafayette area since my co-worker Dr. Noemi from Mexico recommended this place. I never knew I was a pork skin kinda person, but I always order chicharron taco since I had it for the first time. I also liked camarones ala diabla(a bit salty for my taste), menudo(was the shocked the first time haha), and gordita. Very happy with our experience here.

Great food. Great service. I can’t say much for anything but the tacos because I’m usually set if you give me corn tortillas, meat, cilantro, onions, and lime. They do it supremely well, so I never get anything else. Chips and salsa and limes to get you started, too.

i don’t ever go to Lafayette, but I have been to Taco Rico twice. I really liked Taco Rico. They had a lot of different options, but I just went for tacos. One time I ate in and the service was really nice and included free chips and salsa. The other time I got it to go, and it took a little while, but that just means it was hot and fresh. Really high quality selection of tacos, try them all.

I ordered some to go tacos here, and they were possibly the most incredibly greasy thing I’ve ever eaten. I’m not one to be afraid of greasy food, but come on! The tacos in question were pastor tacos. By the time I got to the last taco in the box, it was literally sitting in a full inch of orange-tinted grease. I will admit that the meat was tender and somewhat tasty. They also had a nice chunk of pineapple in there, which I enjoyed. It was just really difficult to enjoy the good when these things were flat out dripping grease. No bueno.

I came in looking for a great margarita. When I sat down, The server told me they do not offer them but they do offer 2 beers. Already off to a rough start I looked at the menu and ordered 3 different tacos, a side of guacamole and chiles with grilled onions. Five stars for tacos. Zero for salsa and guacamole. I don’t feel that a true authentic restaurant can mess this up. Chips were not fresh, I didn’t bother eating them. Get tacos to go and run. Cheesy Spanish music video countdown on tube tvs. That’s it.

This place was really good. My friends and I stopped by here during a road trip after the first location we picked was closed. It’s located in a strip mall in Lafayette– which, honestly, i’m not sure if it’s «sketchy» or not, but it seemed to be located in a pretty bare bones neighborhood. The restaurant was clean, if not a little kitschy with the décor. If this is supposed to be a hole in the wall type establishment, it actually seemed well-off and very clean. There’s a bunch of kids games in the front– so just be aware that the noise from kids banging on the machines might get annoying. They were playing the Olympics, so it was fun to watch that while eating dinner. The tacos are cheaaaap! I think they were around $ 2 each, which was great! I had the al pastor and the lengua tacos. I thought the al pastor tasted great, while the lengua could have used more seasoning. The horchata tasted good, though of course, not without having that hint of rice to it. ;) Their rice also tasted good– it was a good, cheap meal for under $ 20! While the menu focuses around meat, my vegetarian friend had a torta and they were willing to substitute beans for meat because he doesn’t eat meat. This place has good, cheap Mexican food that will fill you up. Our waitress was very sweet as well. I’d visit again if I found myself around Indiana.

We’ve eaten here a few times and every time their chips have been nice and fresh and the salsa has a little spice to it. They have an extensive menu and everything I’ve had has been good. We had the Camarones ala diabla, the shrimp quesadillas, and the steak quesadillas(along with 3 soft drinks the bill was $ 27) and we all enjoyed our meals. The waitresses have always been friendly, but it is true that it isn’t obvious that you seat yourself and pay at the register when you leave. They are often busy and the clientele tends to be mostly Mexican.
