Shake Wiggle N’ Roll Animal Rescue

I honestly cannot say I had a good experience with this rescue.
My boyfriend and I found an adorable terrier mix puppy through Petfinder and contacted this organization about her. Our issue was that we were going on vacation in a week to attend a wedding and wanted to know if they could hold the puppy for us until after we come back because we didn’t want to leave her alone for a week during her transition period into our home. At first, Mary Ann was skeptical, and if she had said no, that would have been okay. But we told her we were willing to put down a deposit and she agreed. We discussed a date where we can meet the pup.
After that, Mary Ann stopped responding to us. After several days of emails and asking for further information about the meeting (location, etc), still nothing. We gave her the benefit of the doubt and assumed she was probably busy, until we found the rescue’s Facebook page and very recent posts calling for potential adopters for the puppy we had inquired about. When we FINALLY got a hold of Mary Ann, she told us that she was no longer interested in adopting the puppy to us because people have backed out on her before and she thinks we will do the same. If the puppy is still available after we come back, she’ll THINK about considering us. Which would have been fine, if she had stated this the first time we inquired about it. Instead, she chose to be immature and unprofessional by ignoring our emails and calls after getting our hopes up and wasting our time.
But that wasn’t the end of it. The night before the day we were supposed to meet the puppy, Mary Ann decides to email us (at 11pm when our scheduled meeting was supposed to be at 11am the next day!) and told us that if we still wanted her to hold the dog for us, we would have to pay a $ 200 fee on top of the adoption fee and to let her know ASAP if we were still going to make the hour drive the next morning to meet her. My guess is that she had another family on deck that wanted to adopt the puppy and she was keeping us on the hook just in case it doesn’t work out with them. But not without trying to get a few extra bucks out of us first.
Thanks but no thanks. If Mary Ann had been an adult about the situation and told us initially that she was unable to hold the dog, we would have said fine. Instead she chose to ignore us and hope that we will go away, tell us no, and then turn around and say she will only agree if we paid an extra fee. We will definitely NOT be contacting this rescue ever again.

My wife and I adopted our second dog from Shake Wiggle N’ Roll Animal Rescue and couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the initial call, Maryanna was supportive and helpful in our search for another dog to add to our family and asked excellent questions to make sure she knew what we were looking for and what dog would mesh best with our personalities and lifestyle. She also took the time to get to know us both, and also the older dog who was already a loved family member. She helped us find a perfect match, and while there is always a small period of adjustment when it comes to adding a new pet to the home, she gave us excellent advice and support as everyone adjusted and the new dog settled in. We were highly impressed. When it comes time to adopt another dog, we will be calling Shake Wiggle N’ Roll.

I met MaryAnn one year ago after I had seen the most adorable picture of a Min Pin named Lulu. My name being Lili, I just had to meet that precious little dog. I drove up to Lafayette so excited and MaryAnn was so wonderful! She was so great and took her time answering all my questions. After deciding that I was ready to take her home, MaryAnn accompanied me to the pet store to make sure I got all of Lulu’s food etc. and to top it off I got a discount at Pet Food Express!
I took Lulu home and I was super excited. She was so sweet and full of energy and did not want to leave my sight.
She had separation anxiety & leash aggression that I got very overwhelmed. I was so overwhelmed that I called MaryAnn crying asking if I can give her back because I felt I couldn’t give Lulu what she wanted me too. She was so understanding and she advised me to give Lulu another chance and this was all so new to Lulu and she was just as scared as I was. So I listened to MaryAnn’s advise and I gave that precious little dog another chance.
One year later I’m the most happiest person ever. She is the best little thing that could have happened to me. We go on runs together, many many walks, does well with other dogs. Lulu also gets to come to work with me and she’s one of the most friendliest dogs in our office. She loves people and people adore her.
I couldn’t of done it without MaryAnn’s help. Thank you so much MarryAnn! I can’t believe it’s almost been a year!

We didn’t get lucky like some others but we went away completely impressed with the integrity and care that Shake/​Wiggle exhibits.
If you are looking for a dog, this should be one of your very first stops. Maryanne is a true pro and will either match you with the perfect pet or advise you to wait for another one.
If you want to be working with people you can trust, this is the ticket.

When I called MaryAnn to ask about a dog she had listed on
, she started off by taking some time to ask me some questions, really getting a feel for our home life and the dog we already have — a Corgi named Rooten. After hearing everything I described, she helped talk my wife and me through a couple of the dogs she had available for adoption, explaining which ones she thought might be the best fit for us.
Her first recommendation, a Miniature Pinscher named Fifi, was not one we had even been considering, but just by talking on the phone she was able to pick out the *perfect* dog for us. After one meet-​n-​greet with our dog, we knew we had a special match. We love Mochiko (this is Fifi’s new name) SO much; she’s a perfect fit for us, our lives, and for Rooten!
MaryAnn is so passionate and so good with the dogs, and it shines through in the way she helped pick the perfect dog (before even meeting us!) and in the way she has followed up with us to see how things are going, helpfully offering us advice on how to help ease Mochiko through this big change for her, coming into our lives.

We adopted a little male shih tzu back in May 2010. Maryanne is absolutely WONDERFUL! She is such an animal lover and takes such great care of her rescues! She makes sure that each animal is placed in a loving home (phone interviews, home inspection, meet & greet, etc). Oliver is the sweetest little boy and is doing extremely well! Not only has he gain some weight (quite the little chubbster!!), but with his daily walks and visits to the park, his back hind leg has improved tremendously! If it weren’t for Maryanne’s dedication, we woulnd’t have found Oliver.

This is a great rescue group for dogs and cats run by Maryanne and other volunteers. They foster animals that they get from the animal shelter, until they are able to find homes for each animal. She is so passionate about the animals that she helps and she makes a big commitment to each animal that she helps. I adopted my dog Gracie from her, and Gracie has been such a source of joy!
