This is where I buy my suppliments for two reasons. First, the staff know what they’re talking about. Most of them obviously workout unlike GNC where you get some out of shape kid that can only tell you what their best sellers are. Then there’s the smoothies… MAN they’re good. But, don’t kid yourself. If you order a chocolate or chocolate peanut butter smoothie like I do, they’re made with hershey’s syrup. That’s why they taste so good. You have to request a sugar free smoothie if you want one and those don’t taste half as good, lol. You might spend a little more for your suppliements here but I’d rather support local business and get a smoothie while I’m at it than order my stuff online or go to GNC.

These are the best protein smoothies I have ever had, so much that I almost don’t believe they are good for you! There is no going back to Smoothie King, so Planet Nutrition needs more locations! Most protein based smoothies are nasty and have a «raw» powder taste, but not these. Great after a hard workout or a quick breakfast. Even my non-​smoothie husband loves them. The cheesecake flavors are the best!

I discovered Planet Nutrition several years ago when I was searching for a good protein smoothie. It’s my understanding that their smoothies use an egg-​white base as the protein source. So I never have a powdery taste with their smoothies, like I so with some.
One of the owners is usually working at the Johnston Street location, so service is always first class. Be sure to ask for a punch card; buy 10 smoothies and the 11^th is free.

Planet Nutrition has, by far, made the best-​tasting post-​workout smoothie I’ve ever had. I’ve had my fair share of smoothies, but this place takes the cake.
I was fortunate enough to spend some time in Lafayette for Thanksgiving, and after completing a few laps in Girard Park, my girlfriend and I decided to drop in. The staff was extremely courteous, the selection was amazing (that’s not even including the number of supplements and accessories on sale), and to top it off, I was given two big samples of their home-​brewed whey protein to bring back to New York!
This place is simply amazing. The quality of their product, their courteousness, and their great location has made Planet Nutrition the latest addition to my ever-​growing list of places I have to visit while I’m in town. As I’m sitting here, drinking a smoothie and remembering how awesome their homemade whey isolate is, I miss Lafayette – and I miss Planet Nutrition! Now if only they made boudin too…

Of all the things I miss about Lafayette, Louisiana, the thing I miss most is the weekly protein shake I would get at Planet Nutrition. Every Saturday, I’d pull up to the drive-​through, hand over my punch card (11^th shake free!), and order the large chocolate peanut butter shake. The price was a little over $ 5 at the time. It tasted like a Reese’s Cup. In less than two minutes, I’d have the shake in hand, ready to conquer the day!
Don’t be intimidated or discouraged by the body-​builder employees or patrons. I started going to Planet Nutrition because I was an emaciated high school cross-​country runner. The owner made me a complimentary blueberry cheesecake shake, and gave me a thorough nutrition consultation to help me gain some lean weight. All of the employees I encountered were friendly and efficient at making shakes. To compare, I tried a shake at Captain Nutrition down the road, but it just wasn’t as awesome.
Fortunately for those of you in Laffy Taffy, now there is a Planet Nutrition website, which lists the dozens of smoothie flavors and nutritional values (perfect for all you body-​builders getting ready for competition)! And apparently they’ve opened two more stores — an additional one in Lafayette, and another in Lake Charles. Next time I’m in town, I will be reuniting with a large chocolate peanut butter shake.
