Pearls Salon & Spa

Charlie is a dream. This was my first visit to a hair salon without my mom in-​tow (I am completely ignorant of fashion and hair and… girl-​stuff), and Charlie turned a history of awkward silences into an hour of fun with an enormous twist of satisfaction at the end. I came in with an idea of the color I wanted: red. She brought out swatches for me and helped me through the colors. After a painless dyeing, we ran through magazines to find a cut that we both thought would work. She went to town, showed me how to style my hair after she cut it, gave me a ton of tips, and I’m here a few days later still able to style my hair, something I’ve never done before without a straightener. She’s absolutely wonderful.
I called in about twenty minutes before my appointment to schedule, and they had availability. It was awesome to be able to call and be in a chair twenty minutes later.
The Unilocal map isn’t so helpful — it had me turn a turn after the location, then tried to send me down the road a bit too far. Be aware of that if you use a GPS. :)
A stylist was helping a little girl style her hair next to me, so it’s also child-​friendly, and I think they have a corner to play in within the lobby.

In general, this is a nice salon and the staff is friendly. But, this is primarily a review for Zoe Mohr, who is a stylist at Pearl’s, as she is the only stylist I have seen. If you have short hair and are looking for a good stylist, Zoe is your girl. Literally, I have never had a better short hair cut, and I have short hair most of my life for the past 25 years. She is totally skilled in razor cuts, and puts a lot of thought into what you are looking for and how she sees your cut and/​or color (she is great at highlights too). Mind you, if she thinks what you want to do might not be the most flattering, she will tell you, which I appreciate, quite frankly– we don’t always know the most flattering cut for ourselves. I won’t be going anywhere else as long as Zoe is there.
