When my wife and I decided to put in hardwood floors, we searched online, got a number of bids, and ultimately ended up with going with Franklin. And boy, are we glad we did! The job they did was utterly fantastic and their attention to detail was amazing. First, Franklin Floors was NOT the cheapest of all the bids we received. They are a one stop shop… they provide the wood, glue(for engineered floors), padding, and installation. In other words, you can’t go to a place like Lumber Liquidators, pick out the wood, and then have them install it. They say it’s because they want to be able to guarantee the work end-to-end which I think makes sense. The result of this is that their estimate was a bit skewed in the sense that the wood was more expensive than otheres but their installation cost was cheaper. This pretty much evened things out. We paid about $ 6.75/sqft for the wood about $ 2.00 sq/ft for the installation. Due to budget constraints, we were only going to put the wood downstairs. When Roger(the owner) came out to do the estimate, he gave us his opinion on what kind of wood we should use and where to put it, but wasn’t hard selling at all. After he left, my wife and I came to the conclusion that we actually wanted the stairs and upstairs hallway wood as well. No problem. Roger came back out and gave us an estimate for that as well. Scheduling the installation was good. They told us when the wood would arrive(it needed a few days to adapt to our environment) and when they would start the install. Both times, they were right on time. The team of 3(Roger, his son Dana, and Ron) came to work each morning on time, never dilly-dallied, and cleaned up before they left for the day(although one time they accidently left their air compressor plugged in and turned on automatically in the middle of the night… that was scary). The best part about it all though was their attention to detail(specifically Roger’s). Our house has a lot of weird angles including a step down living room that has 2 very odd angles, and Roger spent a good portion of 3 days crafting to wood to fit perfectly. This caused the full job to go longer than expected however it was definitely worth it looks great. Also, our concrete foundation was not level in our front entry way(pitfalls of a cookie-cutter housing tract). Instead of just ignoring it and having a slight dip in the wood, Roger actually mixed and layed new concrete to even it out. All without extra charge. As I mentioned, they spent about twice as long as expected to complete the job, mainly because of the issues with our house. They took it all in stride and never deviated from the original price point. That was huge to me. I like to know how much I’m going to pay up front and not have this«Oh it’s going to cost this much more» when they’re half way through. I’ll definitely recommend Franklin Flooring to anyone who’s thinking of putting in new hardwood floors.
