Chris is the reason I go to ¹⁸⁄₈.
If you are going to ¹⁸⁄₈ Lafayette, Chris is your guy. I have been going to ¹⁸⁄₈ for a while now and I only get cut by Chris. I have dabbled with one other stylist due to last minute haircut booking, (since Chris was booked that day) and it wasn’t the same. I only trust Chris with my hair. He keeps up with current trends and always gives me exactly what I want. I have come to him with specific hair cuts (that i have brought a picture of) and i have also come in not really knowing what i want, more of just a general idea. Every single time Chris knocks these cuts out of the park. Its hard to come by someone you constantly are satisfied with cutting your hair and I’m glad i have found a place to go with a clean stylist. Chris recently got promoted to lead stylist at ¹⁸⁄₈ so its not just me who is recognizing how good he is.
Bottom line ¹⁸⁄₈ Lafayette is a great experience I would highly recommend going here. Love the location and ambiance here, but Chris has been the reason I keep coming back. I gotta give credit where credit is due for such a humble guy and a stand up establishment.

I have seen Chris ever since he started working here at ¹⁸⁄₈. I’ve never been disappointed, he is always able to give me exactly what I want even if I’m not sure what I’m looking for. He’s a very versatile stylist, his clipper work is the best I’ve received and he is just as adept with shears. I would highly recommend Chris if you are looking for a high quality experience!

Ok, maybe women have got it right all these years. I just needed a haircut and I’m sick of going into a salons where I’m just out of place because it’s designed for women. This was a great experience from the moment I walked in the door. Offer of a beer they have on tap ir a glass of wine. They have things you can change into so you don’t have to be scratchy all day with hair in your shirt. Fee minute neck massage… oh yeah, Alyssa gave me a great haircut, a real professional. I didn’t think I really needed a lot of this, but it sure was really nice. I’ll be back for sure.

Nicole did a great job with a quick clean up before NYE. Motivated me to make a full appointment here in the new year!

Great place, great atmosphere. Very relaxing which is very important to me and best of all no wait on a Sunday afternoon. Everyone was super nice. The drinks were a nice touch as well.

I had a good experience here. Nicole was a skillful and attentive hair stylist/​barber. I wanted to try something new and she was on board actively trying to solve the question of what style. I was comfortable throughout the whole process and left that place feeling good about my decision to try them out.

Meghan is absolutely amazing. I love her great attitude and my wife loves the cut she gives me every time. On top of that, she has bailed me out numerous times by squeezing me in before I have to head out of town for work or a wedding and haven’t been able to get an appointment booked ahead of time. Great experience and I highly recommend her.

Had my first experience at ¹⁸⁄₈ today and I will definantly be going back. I must thank Chris for his talent and expertise! By far the best cut I’ve had in years and well worth the price. Honestly, it’s only like 20 bucks more than a sportsclip or something and 100% better. They even have beer on tap while you wait!

I’ve had two misses on my first two tries here-didn’t like the staff or the results until I, reluctantly, tried Nina. Wow she was great! I loved the experience so much I referred at least 5 people in the course of a month, all of who reported a similar result.
Today, after I finished praising Nina to the owner and let them know that she was the reason I’d referred so many friends, they fired her! What is the matter with these people? They apparently don’t know a good stylist from their mediocre crew. You have lost me as a customer and I intend to persuade my friends to give you up as well. IDIOTS!

Got my hair cut from a mop-​top mess by Chris, and he did an exceptional job. Took the time to really work out the details, asked all the right questions, was professional and super friendly. The front desk was also really great. Can’t recommend Chris or the salon as a whole enough. If you want a quality style done well, go here. Do it.

I’ve given this place a few tries, even the one in Roseville when I lived there for awhile. My haircuts were ok at best but service is good. The other day I went in for a buzz cut to shed some weight off my head to avoid the heat. I figured a shaved head is easy and simple. I was wrong. The guy who gave me my cut did not do a good job. I asked for a fade on the sides. He went way shorter then I asked for and the fade itself wasn’t good. You can see where he left off with the different guards on the trimmer. I commented on how short the sides were but I wasn’t going to chance having it fixed because I didn’t want to go any shorter. I was given a complimentary coupon for my next haircut but I will pass. I’m done with this place.

I feel like I hit the JACKPOT!
It’s been a long time since I’ve had a ‘salon’ or ‘barber’ like experience! When I was doing so in the past, it was typically TOP shelf! The folks at 18|8 do an amazing job, and make it look and feel so effortless! I want to keep this short and sweet! I’ve been serving the public for decades and I know the REAL deal when I see it.
This place is great! I’m kind of a ‘guys guy’ and I found this experience to be a perfect mix of ‘doing something nice for yourself’ and a time efficient grooming experience!
Meghan S. impressed the socks off of me! She is a pro! She is the perfect mix of Art & Science. She knows her craft, but doesn’t need to bore you with the details to prove it! I also like that she is comfortable building rapport, and is more than just an ‘operator’!

I have an older looking face but wanted to look youthful. I had my hair cut by three different people this week. The last one was the absolute best cut. In fact, i now think it may be the best cut I have ever had… keep n mind I have been going to salons for years!
I loved ¹⁸⁄₈. They told me it was for men but they would take me as a customer.

I loved the beautiful interior since I appreciate architecture and design– just being there was a pleasure.
So I got lucky and when one stylist didn’t quite know what to do with me another one jumped in and both gave me the best hair cut ever!
I want to thank the owners for allowing their team flexibility, and allowing input from different hair designers. It made my style turn out just as I pictured it would!
I felt like I got a work of art, not just a hair cut.

First time coming in off a Groupon special. So glad I did. Vanessa was great. Walked out with a great cut. Everyone was so nice. Will be going back to get pampered a little more. Been looking for a place that serves Men. Color will be next.

The vibe in 18 | 8 is amazing, everyone is kind and full of compliments. The products they sell are nice and fairly priced and the service you get with a drink, massage, wash, cut, etc are all top notch. Will be my go to haircut spot in the future!

The experience here is truly unique and unparalleled. I’ve visited here three times with two different stylists, and had a pleasant experience each time. They are very attentive as soon as you walk in the door. I was offered my choice of wine, beer, coffee, or water, and they even kept my cup full throughout the service.
I’ve never gotten a better haircut before, and I will definitely be returning.

Ever since moving to the Bay Area 10 years ago, I’ve been looking for a place to get a really nice haircut, while still enjoying the experience. I used to go to Phoenix Salon in Walnut Creek, but my stylist moved. Then I found ¹⁸⁄₈. My 5 year old son gets his hair cut here and now I do too. It is a really great location, lots of parking and they pamper you from the minute you walk through the door.
Today it was my turn to have a cut and my son had to wait for me. The staff made a fuss of him, gave him a coloring book, a drink and changed the channel on the tv for him. When the tv wore off, they sat and talked with him so I could still enjoy my experience.
I highly recommend the executive haircut with Galina. She is really lovely and listens to what you want. She checks before she cuts to ensure you like the length. She tells you which products she is using and talks you through the steps. She cuts my son’s hair and is very warm and professional.
I can’t recommend this place enough. The prices are reasonable too, more expensive than Supercuts or others of that ilk, but you get what you pay for.

AWESOME MUST TRY.
Visited 18|8 today for first time and it was terrific. I’m not a «salon» guy and am usually fine with barbers quick value haircuts. But, my wife (and I) are tired of the hit or miss quality of those types of shops. Plus the haircuts don’t grown in right. I had a great experience here from greet to finish. Abe was always checking to make sure he wasn’t cutting too short and that I liked the length, sideburns, back etc… I have never had anybody check on that stuff. Plus he was a cool guy not some fancy salon type, crusty old barber or newbie. Just a solid cut with a relaxing warm face towel at the end. This place is worth the visit and I will be a regular from now on.

It is very difficult to get my 8 year son sit still for a haircut. He sat through this one without any objections. At the very end, he had one comment «Really Fine.» A great spot and the beer on tap is a great incentive for dads.
