The Jaegerschnitzel and Cream schnitzel are both AMAZING! The owner(assume) is very sweet and helpful and is clearly very proud of her food. I can’t give five stars because this place is often slow to taken orders/get food on the table and the bathroom is SICK! I just avoid the bathroom and don’t go there when I am already starving and it all works out.

Nothing fancy but they do have very good food. The bratwurst was good, the schnitzel was very good(and huge) and the sauerkraut was perfect. I’m not sure I would go here if I was in a rush. In this case, I had plenty of time and I enjoyed the meal. Oh, and try their house salad. It’s not your ordinary house salad, and is very good.

I have visited this diner a few times now, and will not return to a sit-down meal again. The food we ordered each time was tasty and, in the past, the service has been pretty good. It seems this diner has now become a hangout for some who have no respect for others having dinner. A loud and rude group of troops were enjoying some beverages and I haven’t heard so many«f-bombs,» «faggot» comments, and«sloppy, wet, puss» remarks in a public place ever. It may not have been so bad if the place was not extremely tiny, and if they made an attempt to keep their comments contained to their booth. Every comment could be heard by every dining member, and it was obvious some were attempting to rush out. The service was very poor. She provided a lot of attention to one table of men because they repeatedly made attempts to gain her attention: «what time do you get off?», «its good we are here to school you!» and«you’re not married to that engineer are you?» Eventually one of them said something that made her blush and disappear to the back for 10 minutes. It took more than 20 minutes after our meal to get a ticket from her to leave this horrible atmosphere. The diner wasn’t even busy, 10 people total, 6 finished eating, and 4 there for the brew. Everyone enjoys kicking back and having a few, but the average person maintains a level of professionalism around and among families. This review is for the diner, so if you are not comfortable listening to the above comments, and many more vulgar ones, I would recommend ordering from the German Diner and taking it elsewhere.

A little off the beaton path… very informal but very authentic. Everything german that we love bur in typical german fashon, from ordering to serving can be a while, but the wait is definitely worth it. A very nice dining experience… but not fast dining! Try it.

Went to dinner after a meeting and was disappointed. We waited for 25 minutes before our order was taken and by time our food came we had been there for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Which wouldn’t be bad if the food wasn’t So salty also the food all seamed to be bought pre made. I say this because I have eaten all over Germany and never had food like this. Most German Chef’s take more pride in there food they make than what I was served.

Loved this place the food was great. I had the Schnitzel nice portion for Dinner. Had eaten at Bruno’s in Tacoma way too small of a portion and lots of $$$. The German Diner is just like Mom made.

First time have German food. We will be back. It as delicious. Ordered the jaeger schnitzel with home made spätzle, hubby ordered their Doner combination plate. Full of flavor, quite surprised with how good it was. Prices are too low for amount of food. Charge more and upgrade the interior but please don’t change your recipes.

Ordered takeout without any expectations. I had the pork schnitzel with mushroom gravy and a side of rice. It was perfect! Extremely hearty, comforting, and delicious! The prices were fair for the amount of food you get.

I’ve never eaten inside but I’ve ordered to-go quite often. They never mess up my order and the timing is precise. The food is ALWAYS fresh which is why it takes longer to make; trust and believe that I understand the frustration of having to wait to be fed. The staff have always been kind. The place is a hidden gym for those of you that enjoy a good German meal. The diner could use a little pick me up when it comes to décor but you can definitely tell it’s a ma and pa kind of joint. They have military discounts!

I ordered the lamb doner. The sandwich was huge and had great flavor. The meat to veggies and bread ratio was spot on. Unfortunately, my sandwich was cold. Soon as I got my sandwich I opened it. tried a piece of meat and it was cold. This sandwich would have been perfect if the bread and meat were warm. I also didnt like the fact that they charged $ 1 extra for using a credit card. I also recommend calling ahead and finding out what the wait time is. I brought a few coworkers with me for lunch during the week… and our food took over an hour. The places wasnt even at ½ capacity… so I have no clue what the hold up was. To make a long story short… our food was cold and i have been removed from the lunch selection committee at work… daaah well. Lesson learned!

Reasonable prices and friendly staff. I am a huge fan of the Jaegerschnitzzel and the Knodel. Great sized portions and much better tasting then Brunos. They have a punch card program for frequent visitors and this place is constantly packed. Great small building and easy to find parking most the time.

First off the lamb doner kebab was fantastic. The portion was large and delicious. I would definitely eat it again. The original and lamb bratwurst were also very tasty! However, my wife was very excited to eat Sauerbraten with red cabbage and spotzel. Her granny made awesome sauerbraten so she was hoping for something similar. What she actually got was a low grade piece of meat that needed to be marinated longer. She was very disappointed. She wasn’t impressed with the sides either. I gave three stars because the service was great and the doner kebab and brats were great

You want to experience true German cookery! Like mom would be preparing at home, you’ve got to go to this diner! Their portion are huge the food looks great, tastes awesome and everything you’d expect for a great driven restaurant! Prices are spot on, compared to the size of portion makes this a great deal! They offer special dishes on Friday’s and Saturday’s. Me? Being born in Germany and grown up there this is the real deal!

I took my whole squad here for our redeployment dinner after we got back in country. Had to cancel my first reservation and reschedule. Very understanding. When we finally made it in, we were seated in the back private room and there were just enough chairs at the table for all of us. It was a little cramped, but they’re using their space as well as they can. They honestly need a slightly larger building I think, but they’ve only been open for almost three years.(i came here for the first time during their first week) Regardless, the food came out excellent as always. They have french fries again, but you have to ask for them as they’re not on the menu after some jack wagon on here complained about it(not being authentic — dummy). Unfortunately, I’ll be leaving WA state permanently soon and will have to hopefully find a new favorite place in Maryland. I will truly miss this place. On another note, the last time I tried to go here(about a month ago) they were packed. No room whatsoever. They’re at the point now where you need a reservation or lucky timing. I’m really happy for them as I want to see them suceed, but I’m a little sad that my cozy diner where I’ve spent so many lazy evenings having dinner and casual conversations at my table with the owners is getting so popular. It was MY place, and now everyone likes it. Hope you know what I’m getting at there. I’ll be there with reservations in about two weeks for my going away lunch with my squad. I’m really going to miss this place.

My dad wanted German food so we tried this place down near him. We were prepared for long wait times because of the reviews but this was probably the worst service I’ve ever received, and I’ve eaten at a lot of places. First off, very cheap tables and chairs, uncomfortable and the booths are very close to the table so you have to slide in carefully. Dirty carpet and ONE bathroom for EVERYONE to use, which was also about the strangest bathroom I’d ever been in(for the number of air fresheners), it actually made me smile. The waitress was kind of stand-offish, a bit brusque to say the least. Out of four of us NONE of us got offered a refill on our drinks, not even once. I ordered a glass of wine and she never even asked if I wanted another one(very strange for a waitress). She was also very frazzled, even though there were only a few other tables. She kept telling us how busy it was going to be, and was putting«reserved» pieces of paper on all the tables, even ours, while we were still eating. Apparently she couldn’t figure it out any other way?! The food was ok, but the«roast» we had was not very tender as you’d expect something they only serve two days a week(because it has to cook a long time) to be… you had to cut it with a knife. I was glad I wasn’t thirsty because like I said, no refills, on coffee or anything. Very strange waitress who must have been the daughter of the owner or something. She’s not cut out to be a waitress, too rude. The place seemed to be fairly busy, but they need to put some money BACKINTO the business because it has the ambiance of a Wal-mart.

Fresh & fantastic. Where do I start? It’s definitely some of the best German food I’ve had since Bavaria. Don’t miss the dill dressing on the salad & don’t be in a rush. Everything is made fresh to order so it takes a while but it’s worth the wait. They have a variety of schnitzels so take your time deciding. But the Jaegerschnitzel is great & so is the schnitzel with cream. Make reservations do you’re sure to get in. Don’t miss the handmade dessert. We had the Bavarian cream cappuccino cake, Wow. Even if you think you’re full, have dessert!!!

The best German food I’ve had since returning from Germany! Eaten here several times; it’s a family favorite. The husband & wife owners are extremely friendly and accommodating. No matter what you order, from appetizer to dessert, it’s freshly made, authentic and tasty. Others complain about the wait. This isn’t a chain restaurant. It may be longer than most are used to, but it’s worth it and expected from a true German Gasthaus.

Wonderful authentic food, but extremely slow service. I noticed a lot of people getting impatient after waiting 30 – 40 minutes for their food. Try their cakes/pies… so good. Definitely try this place, but be prepared to wait awhile for your food.

Be prepared to wait. So best to not be in any rush. The food took a long time to be served. In addition, it also took the server a long time to come by our table to see if we were ready to order also. Had to be flagged down. The cake slices were yummie! I guess the meal itself was good too. It was my first time having German food. The place and food wasn’t much my style though. I wasn’t amazed by it, I guess. But, it’s worth trying if you’ve never had German food. I dined here with a native German resident — apparently the food is pretty legit German. So worth trying at least once if you haven’t before. Let your taste buds travel and explore a bit.
