Lowe’s of La Plata

I have received excellent customer service every time I am here. Which over the last week (starting 4÷16÷16) has been 3 times. It is a plus that it is less than 10 minutes from home. I will be coming here more often.

Big shout out to GEORGE in the lighting and fans department. I had to pick out several ceiling fans and not all the same. George was very accommodating and patient in helping find what I needed. His expertise on the products was very appreciated. He put all my items in my cart and was sure to tell the checker to have someone load for me. This was one task I had been dreading to tackle, but today it was accomplished! Thank you George for the most pleasant experience.

Really nice Store. I’m willing to travel far to go to this lowes. Like many lowes it can be tough to find help Inside, but workers are so positive and the place is just nicer inside.

I would actually go negative if I could. We paid to have a garage door opener installed. The price on store tag was $ 119 and we signed a contract to that effect. We expected a charge for some metal drop down strips. We showed Lowe’s associate which ½ hp opener we were buying. We asked what else we could expect, he said they would call us. The company they hired did a nice job. Then they charged /​extorted us for another $ 119 for installation. OMG. We were forced to pay them. We are fighting tooth and nail to get it reversed. We can believe how sneaky and poor customer service Lowe’s is. This job took an hour and we were told we had new construction WHY WOULD THAT MATTER. It’s a blank slate for installers. It didn’t say anything about it in contract. Thanks Lowe’s for starting off my new year with your extortionist policies in place for hard working Americans. Home Depot now has my business

I had rated this Lowes’ 1 star like other Unilocalers. I deleted that rating about 2 weeks ago. It was a vicious (I call um as I see um) but highly accurate rating about the Appliance Dept & overtones of racial profiling by a SA. I wish now that I had not deleted it, for comparison purposes. My latest encounter was 180 degrees different, like day is from night.
I needed 40 kitchen cabinets knobs. I knew the ones I wanted because i have them in 2 bathrooms. I go to the bin and there is exactly 1 knob in the bin. I go to the desk in the hardware department and there are 3 busy SAs. The young female SA who was stocking an item ask if I need help and I show her the 1 cabinet knob and ask her if there are more. She checks the inventory using a handheld devise and says there are no more but 24 are due in soon. I saunter away then come back to ask if the knobs can be special ordered because 24 of them wouldn’t work either. One of the male SA says it can be done but the 3 of them don’t know exactly how to enter the transaction into the database to make it happen. One of the male SAs have a «lightbulb» idea and says «Call Sherrie». Sherrie not only knows how to make it happen but she does it with a smile (my kind of Shero). She uses the transaction as a teaching moment for the young female SA (another star). At the end of the database entry, she gives me specific instructions, w/​o being condescending, on what to expect & when (another star). She tells me exactly what to say at checkout also. I repeat her words at checkout and BINGO. I fly thru checkout. Shucks, my MyLowes’ Card number was even on my receipt even though I didn’t have my card with me. (Another star)
Two days later Sherrie calls me and leave a vm on my iPhone. She intercepted my cabinet knobs on the delivery dock. Do not go to Customer Service come to the Lumber Department and tell the person at the cash register to look by the printer for the box with my name on it. She tells me she is there until 6:30PM. I don’t hesitate when I get the vm. Within the hour, I am at Lowe’s. I follow Sherrie’s VM instructions and I am out of Lowes’ in 10 minutes flat with my 40 cabinet knobs. I am smiling. I heart Sherrie and the 3 other women that were involved in this transaction. (My bad for not getting all the names.) Ok, a little love for the male SA who said, call Sherrie too. (Another star)
EUREKA! This is as good as it gets! The men in the Appliance Dept need some OJT. Call Sherrie!
BOTTOMLINE: So Lowe’s is like the elephant and the blind men feeling it. Your take away is very dependent on what part of this elephant you come into contact with. Perhaps some stores get so big QC of SAs suffer to the detriment of the organization. That’s a management issue. Isn’t it?

Everyone was super helpful, friendly and said hi in passing. My paint samples were done quickly and the gentleman even came down the paint supply aisles to let me know. At the checkout, I was attempting self checkout as there was no line and my baby was fussy. An associate came up and canceled my sale and personally rang me up on the head register in front of the self checkouts (so I could tend to my baby and he took care of the sale) how nice!!! I must say I will Def be back soon for a ceiling fan!

I have always gotten good service until the other day when my boyfriend sent me to get a plumbing part to repair the sink. I couldn’t locate that part and asked for assistance. When I told the salesman that my boyfriend sent me to get this part he stated «That was his first mistake. » If that is how they choose to treat women I may have to take my business to Home Depot. And by the way, he couldn’t find it either.

Empty promises is all I can say to sum up the appliance department. Don’t even get me started on lawn mowers.
So, the gentleman promised up and down that our dishwasher was to be delivered today, 11÷28÷14. Plenty of them were going to be available. I pressed him hard on the promise because taking off work is a very, very big deal for me. Well, I get a call this morning… delivery day… the dishwashers are not available and won’t be until at least Dec 2^nd. So, here i am, a big hole where the broken dishwasher was, no water to the kitchen and no use of the kitchen sink. Oh, and no other comparable dishwashers are available. No offers of good faith, nothing. Just an «oh well, sucks to be you» response.
This shouldn’t surprise me being that home improvement projects never go as planned. What bothers me is the absolute promise that was made that it would be here!!! I cant tell you how utterly disappointed and upset i am at this point.
This IS the last time we shop at this Lowe’s. Or maybe any Lowe’s. This isnt the only problem we’ve had with this store. But it is the last straw.

I avoid shopping at this Lowes at all costs. I usually make the drive to the Home Depot in Waldorf, occasionally I resort to this Lowes when I am short on time. In all the times I have shopped here, I have NEVER been helped by an employee, or asked if I needed assistance, and if I approach them, ipthey are always very rude. A couple of times, I was even flat out ignored by them, when I did try to get help. Lucky for me I have a handyman Dad who I can call for help.
On one trip when I needed to pick up a few bags of concrete, I asked an employee where in the store it was located, his response was to throw an arm hour and say «that way», then stomp off like I had ruined his whole day. Once I made it to the aisle with the concrete, I realized the kind I needed was on a shelf above my head (I’m rather short). I spent a few minutes searching for someone to help me, to no avail. So I spent the next twenty minutes doing ridiculous acrobatics involving 20+ lb. bags of sand and concrete.
Overall, if you have time to make the extra 15 minute journey to Waldorf, do it. Waldorf has both a Home Depot and a Lowes. Anything, at this point, is better.
