Lapine Ace Hardware & Building Supply

It’s nice to know I can buy tools locally (without having to drive to Bend) at a fair value, and I’ve been able to find a few odds and ends here over the past couple years including chisels, hardware, paint, small pieces of wood (for sign-​making), water/​well-​filters, and yard-​hydrants (lead-​free if you order online from their website & pick-​up locally).
Today I learned that unless I spend $ 300 or more; there is a $ 35 charge to have merchandise delivered to my house, so having a $ 32 set of metric hex-​bolt sockets delivered wouldn’t exactly qualify as a better value compared to walking to Ace’s downtown and picking up the set myself.
I love that the staff is always helpful and friendly in providing information both in-​person as well as over the phone (when I call for pricing and availability information); they keep me coming back with their consistency. I realize Ace Hardware does not offer everything for everyone, but they don’t have to & that’s the nature of doing business; the fact that they can please some people some of the time is good enough sometimes. One star deduction for not pleasing everyone all the time because of the $ 35 delivery charge for orders under $ 300.00. Bring a big, cold bottle of water to drink of you’re walking (or riding a bicycle) in the Summer heat on your way to Ace’s in downtown La pine, and enjoy the beautiful green view, and fresh air along the way!
