Best sul lung tang in town. It will calm your upset stomach down. Their radish kimchi is the best.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. My family & I love this place. I’ve tried different restaurants that specifically serves Sulungtaung. & I always end up coming back here. I also brought my man here recently for his first time, & he loves it!(FYI, he’s not Korean.) This is a little mom&pop restuarant. Def. a go to if you’re craving authentic Korean soup/food.(Great hangover cure for you party heads.) Mainly this restaurant is for the soup Sulungtaung but they do got a few Korean dishes too. I live in Long Beach, & when I crave for this I always take the drive. Worth it.

Sometimes, when the mood strikes, I just have to get me some tang. But, not just any tang will do. Some are dirty, some have been around the block. That’s why I go to Jangmo Jip for a bowl of their renowned sullungtang. Having shopped at Super 1 Mart & dined at Soy Tofu in the same plaza on many occasions, I’ve never taken a glance at Jangmo Jip. Maybe it’s the lack of English signage, maybe it’s my tunnel vision. Who knows?. However, on a rainy, El Nino day, my appetite called for hot soup other than the usual soondubu or phở. As I sat myself down, I was greeted with hot barley tea & banchan. The kimchi was excellent. I have plans to make kimchi at home, to go along with my other homemade fermented products of milk kefir & kombucha, and this is how I want the end product to be. Salty, crunchy, slightly sweet. I asked the cashier/server for sullungtang w/Korean noodles Simple, clean-tasting & comfort food in a nutshell. I added salt & green onion to taste, which meant about ¾ of the container of green onion. As sullungtang being rather bland, I ran an audible and poured some of the kimchi chili powder sauce into my soup to spice things up. Not an authentic method by any means, but delicious regardless. The bowl was large & quite filling, after having the banchan(2 helpings of kimchi), barley tea & steamed rice. Complimentary sikhye to finish the meal Service was good. The kind Korean woman handled calls, the register & table service in stride. Before I could ask for more banchan, she came to my table and asked«more?». You mind reader you ;p Seating for about 30 people via tables. A quaint place that I’d expect to find off a back alley in Seoul. Parking is in a private lot at the Super 1 Mart shopping center. Jangmo Jip is located on the right of the bank. Call me Jangmo Jangles, because Jangmo Jip indeed has some killer sullungtang to soothe the soul. My bowl was inexpensive, filling & wonderful, w/o much of a wait. Service was good & being so close to home, Jangmo Jip is another delicious food destination I can go to for some Korean comfort food. Highly recommend! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

I came here on a Sunday night 7 pm — no wait. I ordered the Sul long tongue with beef intestine. They give you the option of either white noodles or clear noodles. I went with the white. Soup had good flavor — and there was a ton of different meats in there — they definitely didn’t skimp. It comes with kimchi, seaweed, and daikon side dishes. All very good. Definitely would come back!

I live around the area and the price is really affordable so it’s my go to place when I need a nice bowl of sullungtang. I can speak fluently in Korean and they notice it so I always get my orders taken in Korean. It makes me feel like I’m in my home country haha It has a really nice, clean, and home-like atmoshpere.

So this place is good – but as I noted on my other review for another sullungtang place, can you really go bad with sullungtang? I feel like most places I’ve tried are pretty good, especially if that’s their specialty. But this place has been around for a very long time, and they’ve been having the reputation for being good. It was the only sul lung tang specialty restaurant in the area for many years before all the other new joints started popping up. The place has about 10 tables(maybe a little more). The servers are really nice and friendly, and the food is always on point. The most important thing at a sullungtang restaurant may just be the kimchi, and they really make some bomb ass kimchi. Restaurant is old but well maintained, and would definitely keep revisiting this place when I’m in the area and in need of some good Korean comfort food.

These hard working people deserve more than five stars. The ladies are always so kind and the meals are delicious. I think it’s a healthy food, fresh and feels like home made. All for less money than a menu in a fast food. Cannot recommend more.

I think I’m getting older because I’ve been craving soups and broths these days just like my grandmother. But this is a review from earlier this year(closer to February or January) I went with a couple of my friends. The sulungtang is legit(reason for me giving them 3 stars instead of 1). The service is w/e. They get all pissy when you ask for stuff kimchee or water. Kind of ruins my taste buds, ya know? When we were paying(we did dutch pay), I put 20% tip on my bill. My(jobless and poorer friends) put like 10% and literally the lady got pissed. She was telling them they needed to put more. And then I told her I put 20% so it’s okay. Anyways, later I was thinking about it and I kind of got upset because of the fact she demanded more tip. I mean I think people should tip, especially if it’s sit down. But to demand a certain amount and get mad over it and TELL the customer that in a loud verbal voice(which can possible embarrass the customer) and over service that was very subpar? THATSHIZISILLEGALSON. Anyways. Won’t do a sit in here no mo.

Five stars may seem overly generous, but when you consider what this place is, you realize that it is exactly what it should be. This is an authentic, casual Korean eatery. Believe it or not, people in South Korea do not eat sweet marinated korean barbecue every day. Such meals are more likely on special occasions. The average korean eats the kind of stuff you can find at Jangmo Jip. It’s a large collection of soups and noodle dishes. I won’t lie– the service is probably a bit better if you happen to speak Korean or come with a Korean speaking friend, but they are by no means unfriendly. They served us copious amounts of their delicious barley water(a traditional, thirst quenching beverage in South Korea) along with our lunch. The kimchi, tofu soup and bean sproud salad were excellent. I personally had the oxtail soup which was very good. The prices are quite reasonable and the meal is satisfying. The stone cooked rice is slightly burned(by design) and it is one tasty experience. Its been a while since I’ve eaten here but I would gladly go back. I’ve honestly never had anything else like it in orange county.

I was welcomed with a lovely cup of hot barley tea when we walked in. This was exactly what I needed after coming down with a cold. My roommate introduced me to sul rung tang because I was looking for a soup to soothe my sore throat. It was my first time trying it and I loved the simplicity of it all. You go to a restaurant that basically specializes in broth made with ox bones, pick the one you want, and add the salt and green onions yourself. I just went with the basic one($ 6.99) and was satisfied. The broth wasn’t as flavorful as I expected, but it was a good first experience. I am happy that I can now look for sul rung tang for something warm, nutritious and light when down with a cold. Yay!

I was in L.A. for business and I knew I wanted 2 things. I wanted Korean food and I wanted the Korean food to be seolleongtang. Atmosphere: Holy crap, I was back in Itaewon 2-dong in Seoul. I was the ONLY non-Korean person in the place and that made me very comfortable as I knew I’d get good food. Regular Korean-style Korean restaurant. Menu on the wall, drink fridge in the back w/the register and kitchen semi-visible. The only thing missing was for ½ the restaurant to be shoes-off style floor seating. Service: Korean. They come up to the table, you order, BOOM, the food is there. Direct, but good. You want something, you need to shout«Ajuma, yogiyo», so you might as well be back in Korea. Food: I got the beef bone soup(seolleongtang) and it was some righteous stuff. Not as good as the 25(24⁄7) place in Wonju, South Korea, which has the world’s best seoullongtang, but the best I’ve had outside of Korea. The soup base was boiled heads and leg bones — perfect. No concentrate brought to a boil here. The right amount of noodles and I dumped in salt, pepper, and a good huge handful of green onions(in the tins at the table, as they should be). Price: The entire meal, with seaweed, two types of kimchi, and some mung bean sprout side dishes, was $ 7.99 plus tax. EIGHTDOLLARS. EIGHT #$%^&* DOLLARS. If you’re not eating here 3 – 4 times a week and you live within an hour of Cerritos, CA, you’re wrong. Just wrong. Bottom Line: This stuff is soooooo good and sooooo cheap, I’m going to drive from my home in Las Vegas to Phoenix via L.A. just to east some more come Labor Day weekend. Again, I’m going to add 7 hours to a drive to see my family for the first time in 2 decades during a holiday weekend(and I’ve been in the military and overseas for 20 years) just to eat here. Yeah. It’s that good.

I don’t think I need to say much. What people say are spot on. I started coming here 20 yrs ago and it’s still here and it tastes good and it’s cheap. I get #1 or #3. You just can’t do any better than these ladies. One of the best Korean comfort food place.

Either speak Korean or bring someone that does. The staff is friendly enough but it is a family owned business that caters specifically to Korean clientele. The food is good, the sides are fresh, and service friendly. Prices are reasonable. Would definitely revisit, but with a Korean friend next time.

Great hangover food! Small menu. –Sul Lung Tang — I like mine rather bland with a lot of onions. Pure good broth that has been cooked for many hours. For newcomers, you are supposed to flavor your own soup with salt and green onion on the table. –Chicken Soup — so good! The soup was sweet. Chicken falls off the bone.

Stopped by for lunch a couple of days ago. Jangmo Jip is located in a large plaza on the intersection of Moody’s and La Palma so parking was not a problem. When I walked in around one the restaurant was half full. I was promptly greeted and show to a seat. After exploring their small menu decided to go with their most popular dish sul lung tang(beef in an ox bone stew). I was given hot tea to sip on while I was waiting for the food. The soup was served in a pot along with a couple of banchan(side dishes) so it was pretty minimalistic. I added salt to season the soup and dug in. Taste wise it was very mild. A big change from the typical spicy dishes that I associate with Korean food, but as I progressed with the meal I started to like the soup more and more and by the end I was hoping for a little more which to me was a good sign. At the end of the meal they give you a small cup of some sweet liquid as desert. Price wise it was $ 6.99 + tax and they do take card for amounts greater than $ 10 so it was cash only. Service was also very good, there was a very sweet woman who was my server. Overall two thumbs up from me for the sul lung tang of Jangmo Jip.
