Do not use this company if you intend to rely upon them for knowing the rules surrounding what Medicare will pay for. If a loved one needs a doctor and yet can’t leave their home, such as in the case with seniors that are homebound, the need for a medical group that has doctors to make house calls is paramount. Mobile Physicians Services who also goes by the name of Pacific Medical Care offer services to homebound patients. You would think then that this company would understand fully the services that Medicare will cover for a homebound patient, but they clearly do not. I called Mobile Physician Services for my father who was recently discharged from the hospital and is home bound. A physician’s assistant saw my father and agreed that my father definitely needed a home health care aid to assist him with his daily living activities such as getting in and out of bed, toileting, incontinence, feeding, grooming etc. Personal care services are indeed covered under Medicare, but it is not commonly known among health care providers as it is only allowed under very specific circumstances. 42CFR409.45 is the cite to the Code of Federal Regulations which authorizes such services: . Another clear indication that these services are covered by Medicare is Medicare owns website which allows one to search for home health agencies that accept Medicare by city and/or zip code and to view which services they cover. One of the categories of services listed is «home health aid» Each category of services has an explanation of what those services entail by holding your mouse over the little information sign, a small circle with the lower case«i» in the middle. The description of the services of a home health aid is: «Services to help you with daily living activities(such as getting up, bathing, getting dressed and making a meal». The link to the Medicare website for home health aid services in San Diego is: Unfortunately the Medical Director of Mobile Physician Services, Dr. Duffy despite me sending his office a copy of the code section does not believe that Medicare will cover these services and terminated services for my father without speaking with me directly when I complained that his company was not facilitating, as we had been promised by the PA that came to see my father as well as one of the supervisors, Mari, to hire a care company that provides such services. Terminating services for my father left father and my family in a horrible situation as we had not yet received the order necessary to obtain such services and Duffy was refusing to do so. Understand that Mobile Physician services does not provide these services but a doctor must write the order for such services. By terminating my father after he was seen by their doctor and refusing to provide any services other than emergency services for 30 days, my father will go without these needed services. It is nothing short of ludicrous that a company who focuses on serving the needs of seniors would not understand the law. And would terminate services because of complaints that they were not doing what they promised they would. Bottom line is I would not use this company for a loved one if you are depending on them knowing which benefits Medicare covers and want a dependable company.
