Kleen Sweep

I contacted Matt on Monday to schedule an inspection and cleaning of my fireplace. He called me back the same day and was able to fit me into his schedule on Wednesday. I appreciate the quick response time and I’m happy to get an appointment the same week.
Matt cleaned the interior of the fireplace using a vacuum with multiple filters so there was no mess in the house. He also laid down a protective blanket in front while he was working. He did an excellent job sweeping the fireplace.
Unfortunately, there were some issues with cracking and gaps in the mortar that he noticed while inspecting the exterior and from looking down the flue from the top. He showed me pictures and recommended that I not use the fireplace until a mason inspected and repaired the damages. He provided a referral to a mason and I am in the process of getting an estimate for repair.
I highly recommend Kleen Sweep and will be using them again in the future once my fireplace is repaired.

Matt did a fabulous job of cleaning and inspecting for a Buyer, his explanations to the Buyer were detailed, very clear and helpful to her in her decision making process. He also did a great job of installing a spark arrester for a Seller and at a reasonable cost. He was on time and very professional. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Matt was early for our appointment and I was very very late. He still came in and gave me a brief inspection and explained what was wrong with our fireplace. And because he had to leave for his next job, he did not even charge me for the trip. Also, gave me the name of someone who could come in and do the repairs.

I wanted yo take the time to write a review about Kleen Sweep. Matt came out and was very honest. He got right to work at looking at our fireplace. We havent used our fireplace in over 11 years so I was afraid they would tell me that it was dirty and need a lot of work. On the contrary, he told us that it didn’t need any sweeping and it was quite clean. He was honest in telling us that it only needed a little dusting which he could do but he hinted that we could save our $ in dusting it ourselves since it was so minor. I really appreciated this considering we just had Christmas. He was courteous enough to give us a call before our appointment to let us know that he was running late, and he also called when he was on his way., which we greatly appreciated. He also spent some time educating us on everything we needed to know on how to work everything properly and safely. Overall, we were very pleased with Matt’s professionalism, honesty and knowledge. We will definitely will use him in the future and highly recommend him to anyone. Also, please note that he is one of the few people in San Diego that is a certified Chimney Sweeper. We have had Matt Kastlunger owner of Kleen Sweep coming to our house to clean our fireplace for years, he now maintains our pellet stove, he is on time, polite, and cleans up his mess completely. My stove was not working and Matt was able to fix it without costing me any money! Matt is the type of person you would trust in your home even if your not there. He is an honest person and today that is hard to find.

Matt checked on our fireplace for the first time today. He was honest and told us it didn’t need cleaning, but he had to fix a chain I’d broken. He went up on the roof in the pouring rain!
Matt seems to have integrity, and we were very happy with his work. Nice guy, too!

Kleen Sweep – isn’t that a great name for a chimney sweep business? My husband has been using this company for years, first a guy named Dale, then Dale and his apprentice, Matt, and now Dale has retired and Matt is «the Man». Every 2 or 3 years he comes out and inspects our chimney. If it doesn’t need cleaning he tells us. If it does, he gets the job done.
He looks like a ninja when he works, with his black hoodie pulled up. He brings in two huge vacuums, one to reach all the way up to the top of the chimney without having to go on the roof. It has several 4′ extensions that he assembles to reach that high and scrubs the sides of the walls as it sucks the soot in. The second is for cleanup around the area after he’s done with that.
He recommends if you burn one to two cords of wood per year that it should be inspected yearly. The total was $ 135. That covers his time, gas, vehicle, equipment, insurance and bonding, whatever it costs him to be in business. He is a pleasant young man that we are comfortable having in our house.
