Big Daddy’s Coffee

Hate to be the only negative feedback but we have now come to Big Daddy’s and both times they were closed. The first time was our fault we came on a Sunday AM and I guess they are not open. The second time we came was Saturday AM during their regular posted business hours online. They were closed again. Really good coffee is not really good if you are closed. We won’t roll the dice next time.

Great customer service and very clean and kept together. Sugar packets were all nicely stacked… no I’m not a neat freak but I noticed that… lol nice little local spot. Def prefer this over Starbucks

I searched for a coffee place nearby besides the usual Starbucks. I found this place and was pleasantly surprised. I tried the snicker doodle latte. It was very tasty and not too sweet. The kiosk is set in a small strip mall next to Round Table pizza. I would’ve never known it was here. I’ll come back next time I’m in the neighborhood. I did notice though that the hours posted on the kiosk are different than what’s shown on Unilocal

Coffee is really amazing. Everyone working there is really sweet and nice. I drive there 5 days a week because all the girls working there are so cute and sweet

The owner is super super super super nice. I can’t stress that enough. It’s always refreshing to see someone so genuine and nice. She took the time to explain to me the different types of roast and what pairs well with what. Now to the best part… The coffee. I’ve now had two drinks here the white mocha and the night shift (coffee with a shot of espresso) both have absolutely blown me away. Usually I’m a Starbucks guy because of convenience but big daddy’s is so much better with competitive prices as well. Stop by here for a great cup of coffee and a great friendly experience

I was craving coffee and was planning to go to 7 – 11 nearby, but I saw the signs for this place on the street corner so I thought I’d give it a try. I had a caramel latte, and it was absolutely delicious. It wasn’t too sweet, but not at all bitter, and the caramel was not overwhelming but added good flavor to the coffee. Can’t wait to come back and see what else is good here.

Love supporting local businesses. I’m not a big coffee drinker, but I did indulge in the smoothies and pastries. Great convo with the owner who seems serious and passionate about her business. It’s nice to have a Starbucks alternative in the neighborhood. I would much rather support here than the large conglomerates. Will definitely be returning!

PROS: I have had a delicious coffee drink, and the owner was super friendly.
CONS: I never see the coffee stand open. I would like to be able to swing by after dropping off the kids at their school. It would be super convenient since they share a parking lot. Instead, I have had to go somewhere else.
RECCOMMEND: When they ARE open… if possibly extending the hours to 3:30 when I pick up my kids from school. That would be great too.
I’m sure this is because they are just getting started, but once they have regular hours, it would be a great place for us to come by for an after school snack break.

So desperately in need of a good indie coffee place here in La Mesa, really happy to learn about this cute little kiosk right down the street called Big Daddy’s! It is affectionately named after the owners late tuna fishing father, a story that my family shares as my wife’s family was also a big part of the tuna industry here in town.
Awesome spot and great coffee (ordered a cappuccino which I am nearly finished with as I write) and just a pleasure to meet these guys. Starbucks has simply become a necessary evil, especially out here in East County, but the more amazing people like Big Daddys keep on doing there thing, the less we will all have to rely on them!

If I could give more stars I would!!! First and foremost the coffee was AMAZING!!! I ordered a Gingerbread latte and it actually tasted like there was a gingerbread cookie hiding in my cup! The owner was so sweet and nice to chat with. I love supporting local businesses so I am so happy to have found this hidden gem!!! East County peeps, YOU MUST try this place!!!

I was so excited to see a locally owned Coffee Kiosk opening up in our community. I love supporting local families. Our experience at Big Daddy’s was amazing! I had the Mango Passionfruit hot tea; hot chocolate and mango smoothies for the kids. They also have an assortment of pastries. What impressed me was the tea was all loose leaf! A PLUS!
The hours are 6:30am-11:30, perfect for early mornings or to swing by after dropping the kids off at school! I can tell the owner is passionate about her coffee, espresso and tea. She took a lot of care in making our drinks. There was a great attention to detail (my friend got two little chocolate covered espresso beans on top of her lid; cute surprise!).
Everything is state of the art from the espresso machines to the method of payment. Cash or cards and it even reads the chip! You can tip via credit card and have your receipts emailed or texted to you.
The best part however is the owner’s story. The coffee shop is named after her late father, a commercial fisherman who his crew affectionately called «Big Daddy.» His/​her story is posted near where you order with a sweet childhood pic. Makes supporting this business even better!
I would give it 6 stars if I could and I’ll definitely be a regular at big Daddy’s. I’m sure Big Daddy is in heaven looking down and very proud!
