Vanity Belle Beauty Boutique

I reviewed this place as a YEE but also wanted to Unilocal it separately. Alayna is a gem in the heart of La Jolla. She is so friendly and talented. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and plan on getting my hair cut/​colored here next time I am due for it. Not that hard to find, just park and stroll around Prospect and you’ll find it… and other La Jolla boutiques.

Alayana is absolutely, hands down, unequivocally without question, the best hair dresser I’ve ever had in my 40 years!!! She is a true pro and knows all the tricks. I trust her completely with my hair and it’s healthier than it’s ever been. And the Botique is so cute and quaint. Thank you, Alayna!!! I am so lucky to have found you!!!

What a fantastic little gem in LJ! Beware, they are a «hidden» gem for sure. They are located across the street from Georges in the International Building. Lots of little businesses in there. They are across from the deli in the back. Gorgeous décor, think fresh, clean, GLAM! Crystal chandeliers, mirror and silver accents. Minimalistic feel but warm and pretty. Large flowered wall, literally huge flowers on the wall (not real). Two stations and a bench so we are talking small space but what they did with it was incredible. I walked in and was greeted by the gorgeous Alayna, my stylist and only FT employee that you’ll find there daily. She is so sweet and kind. She asked me if I wanted some Champs, who can turn that down? She made me comfortable, checked to see if I needed the heat on, if I was warm enough etc. Hung my scarf. Then down to biz we went. Talked about what I was looking for. Gave me a nice head massage and a great lathered shampoo and conditioner. She sectioned me well and then went to work on blowing me out. Asked about product which was nice before she dumped everything on the shelf on me. I do like a lot of product and know that my blow out will last longer if I use it. (I have been a stylist myself for 30 yrs) I gave her carte blanche to do what she thought would look good. I loved it. Left with a part down the middle, talked about different options since I’ve been thinking about a change of style. Not much I can change if I don’t want to go short but she was super cool, and helpful. Sweet girl to talk to. She didn’t pressure me into buying products, was thoughtful and experienced. I really want to put it out there so she can build a nice business for herself in LJ. She loves to cut AND COLOR, so if you are thinking about trying something new, please go see her. Parking can be hard on Prospect, so be patient. She’s worth it. I also have to mention that Jonathon (the owner) was more than helpful and he is so nice! I had made an appointment, then changed it twice! He was more than understanding and knew it was me the second I called. I never felt like he was irritated. We actually laughed about it. They also have 3 stylists and 2 make-​up artists on staff that are on call. They love to do group events, weddings, and even a group of girls wanting to have a salon day with Champs, make-​up and blow-​outs. You can book it ahead of time and they will have the stylists come in, or even GO TO YOU! I also love the fact that this is a family run business, Jonathon and his wife (a former make-​up artist herself). I believe the customer service doesn’t get lost this way. And they are doing a great job of making that happen.

The only thing I hesitated once was the pricing for bridal hair and makeup, But I am glad I chose this place. It was worth every penny.
I had Lilly at the la Jolla boutique. My hair and makeup where on point. I don’t wear makeup and when I asked Lilly that I wanted a natural look. She was very careful on what type of makeup she put on. I strongly recommend this location!

LOVE this team! I live in the OC and always go to Vanity Belle for my hair and makeup. My bestie was celebrating her 10 year anniversary in San Diego and the La Jolla girls showed up to the house and transformed 6 of us for the party. From start to finish they were professional, outgoing, fun and talented! I never go to an event without getting dolled up by Vanity Belle!!!

I decided to try this salon out because I work in the area and they had stopped by and gave my store a coupon to come get a blowout for $ 20. All the girls were very nice, and I won the raffle so I’ll be back soon for a cut and style! I’m so excited!

This is a hidden gem! I love Vanity Belle, and will absolutely refer all my friends and family to get themselves beautified here!
I visited their other location in OC when I was getting ready for my high school reunion. My review is posted on their page there. So when I heard that they were opening a La Jolla location, I was so excited to visit them there, a little closer to my house. I was in on Saturday to get eyelash extensions, Lily worked with my schedule to book it at a convenient time, and the whole experience was fabulous.
Lily took the time to make sure that the style of lash was what I wanted, I explained that I didn’t want it to be like «oh, you have fake eyelashes on!» I wanted them to look somewhat natural, but longer and fuller of course, but not too fake looking. She did a great job, I love the lashes and it’s cut down on my morning make-​up routine by a few minutes which is nice.
The shop is on Prospect, lots of cute shopping nearby, it would be a great place to go with a girlfriend for a day of pampering… but just one girlfriend. It’s a small location. Parking can be tricky depending on when you are booked, so give yourself extra time to arrive for your appt in case you have to park further than expected.
Treat yourself to an appt (and check in on Unilocal for a nice surprise!) you will not be disappointed. Vanity Belle is the best!
