What a great salon! This salon is exemplary of how a salon should be run. Every single stylist in here is so professional and so great at what they do. You’ll be in good hands no matter who’s studio you are in, and you’ll never turn back once you step foot into this awesome Sola Salon. Privacy and professionalism have never been so well refined. I love having the opportunity to start a small business and Sola Salons has made that a reality. I now have my own studio Salon with Sola and I could not be happier. They treat me great!

I run a tiny business — I’m an independent contractor so this is the perfect setting for me, especially since my trade is specialized. I’ve been a renter here for a little over two years and really enjoy the freedom I have to run my business with full creativity. Since it’s designed for independent workers, we are responsible for managing our own clientele. There’s no receptionist so you just walk in and have a seat out by your professional’s studio. Since this location is in the neighborhood beach community Bird Rock, there’s a lot to do — especially when it comes to food, or coffee, and retail shops (mostly small business or family-​owned). Sola Salons is a great concept, established at the forefront of similar concepts. I like networking with the other professionals around me, and encourage others who are like me to consider Sola Salons as a space for their business.

I agree with La Jolla G. on only one thing.. .. Mindy is super duper nice. I disagree with her on everything else. I have been getting my hair done by Mindy for quite awhile and she has done a fabulous job on my hair — it is healthy, beautifully colored and the cut is sleak — I get compliments all the time!

Mindy is super duper nice, but I can’t go to someone that destroys my hair and charges me over $ 200 for it! I moved to San Diego this year and got a referral to Mindy from a friend. Her hair looked great, so I asked for Mindy’s number. Well, I loved the salon, for it had a great atmosphere, but it all comes down to the hair. She colored it and chopped it up. She didn’t take much length off overall, but she took a lot out of it leaving my already fine hair, very thin. My hair smelled like color for 2 weeks, I got weird comments about my hair, like it looks damaged, it looks like you have dog ears, and look there are some long strands here and there that she missed. So, I went back to my original hairdresser from my hometown. He said I have «ghetto hair,» and that I need to cut it off! I agreed, so I have been trying to grow it out since. Mindy is nice, but she is way too expensive, and she doesn’t seem to know what she is doing.
