Food was cold and not fresh. I was waiting for my wife’s surgery. You would think after paying so much for surgery that they could have fresh food. Have a banana to be safe. Just like another review, I tossed the food, instead of eating, makes a long day even longer.

Even curving for hospital food, this was terrible. I never throw food away, but even after skipping a meal while my wife was in delivery, I couldnt choke this down. Very happy with the medical care, but the food was terrible.

The food at this cafeteria is pretty bland tasting food that is way overpriced. I think we can all agree that hospital food is going to be priced up more due to the convenience of the location but paying 35cents a ounce for their average sized salad bar is just insane. To top it off they always seem to have the same food here without any change up in the menu. Pretty much most of the items here are done by weight with the price above, their sandwiches, salads, and even some of the entrees dishes. The Starbucks coffee they serve in the hot carafes, is always burnt and bad tasting. The unfortunate part about all this is the lack of food places around the hospital with the nearest place being down the street quite a while towards the University town center area. If you’re looking for coffee, head upstairs to the coffee place just outside the front of the woman’s center and get some fresh tasting coffee and skip this place.

Horrible food, sometimes it’s cold, the house coffee taste nasty, tastes stale. The food is sometimes hard and they over price the food. DONOTEAT the food at night.

I stopped in for breakfast and needed wi-fi access to conduct some work before my second round of nuclear med testing. I perused the menu and you can get a freshly made omelet with 4 toppings for $ 4! You can even get eggs whites. I also ordered tater tots and 2 sausages on the side. Super cheap fresh and made to order breakfast all for $ 6. There’s cafeteria or patio seating, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Did I mention free wi-fi?

Mmmm… the nostalgia of going down the chow line and pointing at steam table items as the lovely lunch lady loads up my plate. It’s pretty good food and if by the rare chance my tummy has an adverse reaction, there’s a reliable ER conveniently located nearby. I’ll stick to the Colors Café…er hospital cafeteria review and post the patient meals service in the hospital listing, even though this kitchen serves both. It’s what it needs to be and is the challenge of the food service manager. Feed the masses while keeping a strict budget. Meet the strict dietary patient needs and provide an interesting variety of fairly priced menu items to maintain an acceptable level of employee and guest satisfaction. Other snap observations: + Easy to find location + Decent variety and available selection + Convenient grab & go items + Relatively reasonable prices + Friendly cashier + Pleasant patio seating — Bombed out & depleted salad bar — No TVs in the dining room I’d go back to try something else from Le Café. I noticed a form you can fill out in advance to order a whole pizza. Besides, I’m too cheap to drive somewhere else for lunch and come back just to pay for hospital parking again. If you’re gonna be in the building for a while and want something more than staring at a vending machine then give them a try.

I spent four days at Scripps Memorial after my wife had to have a C-section. I ate all of my meals at the cafeteria during this time so I had a lot of time to get a feel for what they offer. For cafeteria food it wasn’t bad I must admit. They have a selection of hot foods which they change up for breakfast, lunch and dinner, also they change the menu everyday so your not stuck with the some things everyday. In addition to the hot foods they have a variety of prepacked item including sandwiches, salads, etc which are available at anytime. They prices aren’t bad. They price everything individually. The most I spent during that time was $ 7.00 and the least was $ 3.00. If your going to stuck there awhile like I was and have to eat your meals at the cafeteria don’t worry it’s that bad.

OK, I know. This is a hospital cafeteria, and I shouldn’t even have the audacity to review it. However, it’s not as bad as it could be. And, since I’ve eaten my meals there for the past 3 days, I feel it merits a review nonetheless! Day 1 Cheeseburger + Fries + Chocolate Chip Cookie Ok, I’ll admit it, the burger was terrible and may or may not have given me food poisoning, but the fries were decent and you get as much Ranch dressing as you can fit on a cafeteria tray! Day 2 «Caprese Sandwich» +Tomato Bisque + Orange Chicken The sandwich was actually a slice of mozzarella on wheat bread with chunk of tomato and romaine lettuce… how this merits the title, «Caprese» the world may never know. Orange chicken was actually a wee bit better than Panda Express and as guilty as I feel about it, I really do like Panda Express… Tomato Bisque was well seasoned, a great color, and rather comforting. Day 3 Chicken Strips + Yogurt Parfait A delicate balance of trans fat and healthy stomach cultures did me just right. Granola, blueberries, strawberries, and vanilla yogurt in a Midwest-sized cup made me feel all the less gluttonous for getting two orders of fried chicken strips… it hit the spot though, and was the best meal there by far! So, if you find yourself at Scripps for whatever reason, take a chance on their cafeteria! For better or worse…
