This is the best Rubios I’ve been too. I’ve always liked rubies but it’s never been my go to place. This one has become a habit. I work nearby, and come in often. Everyone who works here has exceptional customer service, they are always cleaning, and the food is always perfect. I always forget to leave great reviews for places that deserve it, but I’m sitting here eating my delicious California bowl and realized I needed to Unilocal them!

You may have an implicit bias towards Rubios because it is a chain restaurant, but I have never been in a nicer Rubios then this one on Fay. It’s still the best Fish Taco in Downtown La Jolla and they have great Taco Tuesday deals. They have other options beside their staple dish, such as salads and burritos.
The General manager here will go above and beyond to please you.

While the person attending me (i think the manager) was friendly I explained that this was my first time to Rubios… I said I wanted seafood with rice but not necessarily tacos or burritos…
He told me the only real option was to get the meal which is tacos…
I then said I do not want it spicy at all and guess what happened? The tacos came slaughtered in a Chipotle sauce! Yes, they changed it up right away but this mistake just should not have been made in the first place…

This Rubio’s location is the best I’ve ever been to: The food is fresh, the place is clean, and most importantly, the customer service is outstanding.
I handle catering in my office and we had a mishap with one of our orders. I called the store and then met with the manager, Jesse, who was extremely apologetic and sympathetic. He handled the situation very well and I was rest assured that they were looking into what happened to our order and that he was happy to take care of future orders the best of his ability.
My coworkers and I eat at Rubio’s at least once every two weeks for lunch and the customer service and care they provide is top-​notch. I would recommend this location to anyone.

It takes a lot to motivate me to write a review… Rubio’s is always our company go to whenever we have office parties… And the food is always fresh, delish and consistent… But I’m not here to talk about the food… Customer Service is everything to me… The General Manager Jesse is a customer service rock star! I watched him work his magic as I waited for my catering takeout… Friendly, helpful, multi-​tasking, so into what he does… It was a joy to watch and experience.

Being new to California and San Diego a friend said we should eat here for cheap fish tacos that are really good for a chain place. Well she was right. The fish tacos I got were really good. The blackened salmon being my favorite. I also enjoyed the hot sauces they had at the salsa bar. Gave my tacos and chips a great kick. I enjoyed them sitting outside with a beer and extra guacamole both very good. I bet I can easily find better fish tacos in San Diego but for a fast food chain I will have to stop by again. I also saw they have 1.99 fish taco Tuesday. That’s something I will have to be apart of one night after a long run.

Rubios is one of my favorite taco places in La Jolla after visiting six of them. The grilled gourmet taco is far from authentic but just about the tastiest thing you’ll ever find. Even the chopped salad is pretty killer, filling, and under 500 calories.
Beyond that the peach iced tea and salsa bar can’t be missed. Somehow they also manage to be the friendliest staff around.

Always great fresh food. Jesse the manager is very involved and is also clearly keeping the wheels in motion. I love love love good fish tacos, and being away from SD now for several years, I have taken it upon myself to bbq Mahi Mahi and prepare for friends and family. Rubios continue to put me to shame with the quality and consistency. (In 7 days my husband ate here 4 times!) You won’t regret it. San Diego institution!

Every time I come to this location I am shocked by the amazing customer service. Everyone is always smiling and nice. I get better service here then most restaurants. The manager even came over with my food and presented it to me in a fancy way. And obviously the salsa bat is the best.

I’ll give it’s a five stars because we went in expecting some yummy fish tacos then we found out that it’s like a fast food place so we’re looking at maybe it won’t be like at that whatever will try it and then end up actually being amazing. My husband got the grilled tilapia and the original I got the mahi mahi blackened and also the original. They have a salsa bar and it was delicious all of the sauce is really good. I would call it a high-​end Taco Bell and if we had one in Texas we would probably go there once or twice a month.

This is my favorite Rubio’s location. It’s always impeccably clean, spacious and surprisingly empty (which is nice because I don’t like waiting in line).
Service here is superb and I love coming here for fish taco Tuesday!
