I was invited to a test run for Kayak SD and afterwards, I’d say that I’d come back with friends or family who are visiting just to do it again. I can’t really give a full review of this business since it was a practice run but from what I experienced, I can say the staff are very friendly and even better, have personality, which is a big plus so you don’t get bored when they talk. The route we took was shorter than I would have expected but you do hit a lot of the major areas and the views are wonderful. I would like to see the tour stretched out a bit longer and people allowed to «go at their own speed» on the way back so those who really want to get going in a kayak are allowed to rather than having to stick to the pace of the pack. Overall, Kayak SD is your average tour guide but I would suggest giving it a shot just because the guides here seem to have more flair and personality than other tour guides.

Had an awesome trip with
. We met at a park at La Jolla Shores and walked to the beach, where brand new Kayaks were waiting for us. All the equipment seemed to be new. We were given a quick how to demo and talk and we were off. There were a couple of guides who were very friendly and quite knowledgeable.
I learned quite a bit, including the difference between sea lions and seals. There was a little history thrown in as well. They kept a nice pace and stopped a few times to keep the group together and point out things. We were lucky to have a gorgeous day.
It was a great experience, and quite simple as my tandem partner was kayaking for her first time. All in all a great experience with friendly people and top notch equipment.

We took the La Jolla cove tour today and it was a beautiful day on the water. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. It was very interesting to learn about the sea life, geology, and local history. We even saw a baby sea lion up close. The tour had a nice pace with short breaks along the way so that it was a nice, relaxing pace. This is now one of the tours I take my out of town friends and family on for sure!
