Had a session with Natalie to lighten my hair and I had a great experience!
I was nervous since I have really dark black hair and wasn’t sure if my color would lift enough. I’m hoping to get to a white/​silver tone in two or three sessions and my first session was great!
Natalie was great to talk to during the procedure and she explained everything she was doing so that I wasn’t too lost!
Sadly, I wasn’t aware of the coupon on Unilocal,but I don’t mind paying for how great my hair turned out! I have a couple weeks to figure out if I was to go lighter or not, but I love this transition phrase as well! My hair feels great for how much it went through and I’m looking forward to future sessions with Natalie!

This evaluation is for Diesel at Adams St. I went to have a hair cut and I found out that the prices range from $ 60.00 to $ 80.00 according the training of the hair dresser. I got the hair cut with the 60.00 hairdresser thinking that it would be better than going to a hair dresser cheaper. The results were terrible. This person did a terrible job. I was wondering what she was doing there. It was the worst hair cut ever in my live. Later on I found out that she works there because she is friend of the owner. Please be aware that if you go there, do not get the «lower» price because they will be practicing with your hair. Good luck.

I have gone here two times and my stylist was Alyssa. I have absolutely loved my hair both times. She’s also really fun to talk to which makes getting my hair done a lot more fun. I got balayage done to my hair and she used such pretty colors!!! She made it look super natural and healthy. Side note this place is adorable on the inside. Love it here, my only warning is make sure you get a quote on your hair before you get it done because it is very pricey here.

Way over-​priced for the simple cut that I received. $ 50 for a men’s cut that took 10 minutes is unacceptable.

Amazing staff amazing hairdressers so professional. Everyone has so much education and talent. I just love Diana she has so much expertise and amazing skills with hair and her personality is what gets you through your appointment. I highly recommend this salon as I have had other stylists also that were very knowledgeable.

If there was a zero star option that is what I would give this salon. I don’t remember the name of the girl who did my trim but when I went to another salon to correct it they told me this was equivalent to beauty school work. So terrible. However I’ve had friends with better experiences that come here so I would be willing to try again with a new stylist HOWEVER I refuse to come back due to the front desk girl called Mo. She was absolutely so rude, unprofessional, and you could tell she had no clue what she was doing. I’ll come back the day they hire a new front desk lady that actually stays behind the front desk instead of hanging out on the floor with the real stylists. They have licorice though which is pretty cool HA.

Ly Wen at Diesel Salon La Jolla was great! She did a fantastic cut on my nephew, was friendly, hip and expert skills! We will definitely be back!

I made an appointment for an updo before my son’s wedding. I’m from out of town and it was a last minute decision. The salon staff was courteous and fit me in. My stylist, Dianna Villalpando was amazing and did just what I wanted based on a photo.

Great place for a cut. We were visiting from out of town for a family party: husband and son desperately needed a trim. Folks at Diesel couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly. My son got a really stylish cut, and my husband looked fabulous. Erica is a master. Wish we were local so we could come here all the time!

Horrible management. Erica was my stylist– she tried to accomplish what I wanted but cut my hair far too short and dyed it exactly how I DID NOT want it. She over processed my hair and put bleach over bleached hair, so it started to break off… I actually think Erica meant well and she is sweet… however, my experience was not good.

I have been getting my haircut here for two years. Ly Yen Vargas is fantastic, I trust her implicitly to cut and style my hair. The online appointments are great and easy. I will be back as long as i live in SoCal.

I came in for a blowout and was so impressed by Ashley. She was super sweet, professional and talented. I ended up with full curls and looked fabulous. I will definitely be back.

I have been coming to the salon for almost 2 years and it has never let me down starting with her location and beautiful La Jolla with Oceanview is right in the heart beautiful downtown Village right across the street from Carl Strauss brewing Company and the burger lounge you cannot go wrong if you want to spend a nice afternoon getting lunch and a haircut from an awesome stylist they have walkins available and 15 stands their music is perfect and will suit your taste bugs afterwards you can walk down to the beach in about two minutes and enjoy the warm Pacific ocean and maybe see some seals did I mention that they will hook you up with beer if you ask them nicely and tip your stylist fairly The owner is really nice and diesel salon has two locations in two very hip areas but this La Jolla location is by far the best location you can ask for while we are on that if you’re at diesel salon ask for Erica she does the best haircuts at the best prices they will take care of you and make sure that you walk out of here happy regardless no matter what they will also finish your haircut with the best product and you will just have a relaxed time in a very controlled and settling atmosphere. After having the same boring color for awhile, I decided it was time for a change. I was referred to Ashley by a friend and I’m so glad I took the recommendation! Usually you can tell what the result of your experience will be like by the consultation, communication between you and your stylist is KEY. She understood exactly what I wanted, and we decided on a Balayage. Since my hair is dark I was concerned that it would get fried by trying to make it lighter, but this was not the case! It actually felt softer when I left, and needless to say this momma felt like a million bucks! She even taught me a cool way to braid my hair when I am on the go :)

I recently saw Erica G for a haircut and single process while in town for a business trip. She tidied up my ends nicely while maintaining the length. One of my favorite parts of a salon visit is the shampoo and she gave me a relaxing scalp massage with the yummy-​smelling shampoo and conditioner. I loved my color mix– a warm blend of brown with golden red. I have received many compliments as it works well with my skin tone. To top it all off, she managed to make my fine straight hair become voluminous with the blowout. I left the salon feeling pampered and pleased, feeling like a shampoo commercial model.
Only con– The salon signage on the street is not very prominent so you have to make a point to look for it on your first trip.

I have always gotten a great haircut here and the cost is very reasonable. I always see Desiree and she does an excellent job. The salon has a great feel to it, great style. Felix is also a so helpful at getting you the appointment time and day you need and they always help you with a smile. Great place!

Since I got out of college and stopped self-​buzzing my hair, I’ve been looking for a place to get a professional and clean hair cut. I’ve tried all of the «fast food salons», including sports clips and other chains, and never have been satisfied – In fact, I usually had to do a rescue buzz when I got home because I hated how my hair looked.
I found a good review of Diesel Salon, so I tried it out. Ly Yen cut my hair, and I have now gone back to her four more times because of how great she is at cutting hair. The service is great, the environment seems very welcoming for both genders (I don’t feel awkwardly out of place as a guy), and the skill level is the best.
I highly recommend Ly Yen for her excellent skill and service. She consistently gives me the best haircuts that I have ever gotten, and I will continue to be her customer monthly.

First of all I would like to say that Shannon is amazing! She was so warm and welcoming when I arrived. I started out with the shampoo and deep conditioning scalp massage. While I was letting the deep conditioner sit in my hair I was offered a glass of water, wine, or beer. Of course I took the wine! Who doesn’t like to be relaxed and pampered? Once done we moved into the chair where the important part happens.
On to the haircut:
Shannon was sure to leave as much length as possible while cutting off my mass amount of dead ends (were talking straw status). I wanted layers and a versatile enough cut so I could have bangs or keep my middle part. Once I told Shannon this she got so excited to try a new bang cut that she learned. She made it happen and overall I was very happy with my haircut. The only thing I was a little iffy about was that my bangs for the middle part were slightly uneven but it isn’t too noticeable and is easily blended with a straightener.

The prices here range depending on the ranking of expertise in the salon, so women’s cost between $ 40-​$ 80. It’s nice to have an option but you want to make sure you relay this to them if you are making an appointment. I used a Unilocal Voucher so it was about $ 40 for a $ 70 dollar cut. (I paid extra for the deep conditioning… like I said STRAW.)

Ever since the Ombré hair trend gained popularity last summer, I have been wanting to jump on the bandwagon. I do not normally spend so much on my hair (I’d rather spend it on clothes/​makeup), but I am too afraid to try any ‘DIY at home versions.’ I purchased the Unilocal deal, but still ended up paying paying $ 100 (not including tip) to get my ombré hair. It’s the most I have ever paid to get my hair done, but the price seems to be equivalent to other salons (or so I think!)
I called around 12:45 on a Friday just to check if they had any openings for that day and Felix ended up setting me with an appointment that day at 1:15PM! Ly Yen worked on my hair and I loved her. She spoke with me before actually coloring my hair and really made sure that she knew what I wanted. It also helped that she had actually ombré-​d one of the other stylists working that afternoon, so I was actually able to see her work in person.
I couldn’t be happier with my hair! I wanted it to be noticeable, but still natural and she really nailed it. I have received tons of compliments on it. Ly Yen did tell me that I would have to go back to the salon a few more times to get my hair to the exact shade I want (slightly more bleached out), but I don’t think I can spend $ 170 three more times.
