OK so I went here to get some highlights which I absolutely love and I also got my hair texturized (which I needed very badly) so now it’s much healthier. Boris is VERY knowledgeable about hair and I loved that. The only thing is that he did not go over the price before hand. I thought I was going in for highlights, not an extra texturization and style. Maybe that was my fault for not asking but I felt that these prices should be discussed before hand. I ended up paying more than half of what I thought I was going to pay.

Boris did a great job on my hair. I was worried because I saw mostly men in the salon photos but he did a good job with my long, curly brunette hair. He added golden/​honey highlights underneath my hair, which turned out great! I’m very happy with my cut and color.

Charlie’s been doing my hair since his salon was down in the Shores, some 20 years. He does great work, listens to what I want to try, and has been great with recommendations for my very fine, tangly hair. He’s got clients of all ages and does remarkable work, even on difficult hair and his prices are clearly posted and very reasonable (no surprises). I’m glad that even though he has sold the salon, he’s still there to do my hair. The new owner, Boris, also appears to be carrying on the tradition in a good way.

Received one of the best hair cuts ever by Boris. Went back a week later to get highlights and lowlights. Was initially happy but did go back to get more highlights put in at a minimal cost. I would definitely recommend Boris for all your hair needs. His styling skills with the blowdryer and round bush are amazing. My husband also had Boris tend to his hair and is already planning on going back. Boris also loves to teach his clients how to look after their hair to make and keep it healthy. Much appreciated. Wash, cut and styling is $ 55.00. Very reasonable especially for the quality and service you get. Highlights and lowlights compared to Vancouver, BC is expensive.

Boris was great, paid immense attention to detail, and worked very accurately, but never in a rushed manner, he literally made sure each and every cut was planned out. Best haircut I have gotten.

Boris is great. He gives a great cut with a lot of attention to detail. Every time I go in it is a custom experience because he makes suggestions and discussed options with you.
He also can handle beards and full traditional shaves.

This barbershop is a true gem. Honestly, it’s finding places like this that make Unilocal so amazing. As a lot of other people noted, the shop is a bit set back off the Main Street so be sure to look for the signs directing you back into the shopping center a few feet.
Logistics aside, I was incredibly impressed with the owner, Boris. From the moment I walked in he was friendly and accommodating. I’ve lived in New York, DC, Raleigh and a few other major cities. Never have I encountered such a talented professional. He truly understands his craft and that’s just awesome.
The amount of attention to detail is what stood out the most to me. I showed Boris a picture of a haircut I was interested in and he adapted it to fit my style. The same was done with my beard. Being blunt, many individuals in this trade merely copy pictures or have set cuts. His ability to adapt and understand shows just how well versed he is. Absolutely check this place out — a stylistic oasis in La Jolla.

Excellent service, great cut and an old fashioned shave transformed my beloved from shaggy to sleek in no time flat. Boris, the new owner, is skilled, conscientious, and just plain nice. The shop is an old fashioned oasis and the prices are very reasonable.

I was highly impressed with this old school barber shop. I saw a sign from outside, which was good because the place is slightly hidden. I was pleasantly surprised with the customer service and my great haircut and shave. I met Boris who is the new owner, nice guy! He really listen to the type of haircut I wanted and gave me a nice facial shave, hot towel treatment. Definitely the works. This place is really nice and Boris does an amazing job. I highly recommend and will be happy to refer people here. Definitely a returning customer. Very happy with my cut and service.

This is a great classic Barber Shop… old school, … I saw Boris there, he is terrific! Very talented barber and stylist. I have unique hair problems, and always need to wear a cap to hold it all down. I have gone through every haircare place in a ten mile radius, but they all fell short of what I wanted… I thought that I just could not ever get the right cut anymore and would have to wear caps the rest of my life.
This place is invisible from the street, but Boris has been putting signs out visible from the street, and that lured me in. He styled my hair so great, I went ahead and got a shave. When I got home, my wife didn’t recognize me… I was looking SHARP and my face was all moisterized and close shaven…
I can’t wait to bring my young son here! He’ll love it!

The name is the same, the owner is different. I never met Charlie, heard great things about him. Boris the new owner is not new to the craft, with 20 plus years experience, he is very welcoming, polite and down right great with his art. Attention to detail and very considerate. The location isn’t visible from the street, it’s tucked in a corner, small and intimate. Once in you will be well taken care of.

Rudy really knows what he is doing. I wanted to cut off 8 inches to donate to Beautiful Lengths but was kind of nervous because I hadn’t had short hair in a while. I didn’t even come in with an idea of what kind of cut I wanted. But he gave me a cut that definitely frames my face which is more on the round side. It doesn’t even feel or look like I cut off 8 inches. Everyone has been telling me that they love my hair and that it definitely fits me. Rudy will know what looks good on you!
