This is a quaint and cute coffee shop. The coffee was yummy and gourmet. A friend asked about the pastries and one worker gave a glowing recommendation about the cookies. The cookie was gross and bland, it was not healthy or anything just flavorless. It was a cakey cookie and looks much better than it tastes. I would not suggest adding a sweet to your coffee order, they look good but are not worth the calories.

This is a 2 min walking distance to work, and I get my breakfast here most of the time. I love their sunrise breakfast sandwich, their chocolate croissant, and also their hot chocolate. They have great lunch sandwiches too and soup of the day. Haven’t had anything I didn’t like.

Scone + Coffee + Happy Me! I love this place I do not eat scones very often, because well, carbs, but I tried one here and it was delicious! I almost always get an Americano to go with a sweet, and theirs did not disappoint so I will be back. Hoping to try a few more of their scones as they had a nice selection from which to choose. Solid 4 Star Experience.

no clotted cream but still amazing scones and they open at 430am, wow!(++) we stopped in to look in their window Xmas day and it was great to see they didn’t have any scones in their glass display case from the day before to serve on the 26th when they reopened, unlike the other«bakeries» in the area who did. we stopped one rainy day just to try it after we had lunch and you couldn’t have asked for a better day to have them. they were moist and their fillings were just the right amount and size which didn’t overpower the taste of the scone. we can’t wait to go back.

I was in downtown La Jolla and needed a place to hunker down and get a little work done. A quick search on the Unilocal app led to me to Brick & Bell, which suited me nicely. In fact, I can’t believe it took me so long to discover the place. It’s just fabulous. The interior of the place is minuscule, but there are enough tables(and abundant free wi-fi) for us laptop-wielding types. Most of the locals camp out on the front patio, with small mammals(both human and canine) in tow. The vibe is cozy and rustic, with lots of exposed brick everywhere — obviously.(There were no bells to speak of, though.) I ordered a maple scone and a medium-sized mocha. The barista was super-friendly and kind enough to warm up the scone for me, which turned it from something simply delicious into something totally orgasmic. As for the mocha — it was rich, creamy, and all-around perfect. I think I’ve found my favorite little café in downtown La Jolla. I’ll definitely be back for some more maple scones next time I’m in the neighborhood.

This place can get super packed during rush hour times. Parking can be a pain, you might have to park a block or two away. There’s a «15 minute zone» across the street you could park at if you get the chance. Pastries. Pastries. Pastries. I love breakfast because of pastries and Brick & Bell is one of the few places that makes the best homemade pastries. I love their scones, they are not only huge but also dense yet not cakey. My favorites are maple, blueberry, and chocolate! I noticed that they also make smaller versions of their scones which is nice to get if you don’t want to fully commit to a huge one(size of my palm). The chocolate croissant is flaky and buttery, something I like to get if I get sick of scones. I heard that their bear claws and blueberry muffins are also quite delicious! I’ve had their coffee a couple of times but it’s nothing too special in my opinion. The only downside is how small the location is, I’ve only gone in here to pick up food and inside there’s a couple of seats but I felt like I was in everyone’s way(disclaimer: i’m 5’9). You can however, sit outside but there is limited seating with lots of shade so bring a jacket/scarf as it may get cold.

Only the fondest memories of Brick & Bell! I stayed in La Jolla for a few days after traveling from the east coast(and Iceland immediately prior) so my time zones were all screwed up. I passed out from exhaustion by 9 every night and was awake and bright eyed by 6am. I wasn’t QUITE ready to start working right after waking up(though I did soon enough after), so I trudged out to Brick & Bell for a coffee and breakfast sandwich bright and early each morning. Beyond the fabulous coffee, my «sunrise sandwich» of egg, tomato & cheddar(I also added avocado) on a croissant was just the thing to deliciously ease me into the day. Sitting outside on a few gloriously clear mornings also didn’t hurt!

Brick & Bell is a cute coffee shop and restaurant located in Downtown La Jolla on Silverado Avenue. I can’t vouch for the breakfast, but I do enjoy the coffee, scones, and pastries. You order at the counter indoors, and your order is brought to your table. The servers are all very polite and friendly. Seating is offered outdoor on a patio and indoor. The indoor seating is a bit cramped because the premises is small. The patio is adorable — brick pavers with some greenery. It gets busy on weekends and holidays, so come a bit early if you want to be sure to get an outdoor table! Street parking is available on Girard and Silverado. Mostly 1 hour spots, so watch the time! Will definitely return to Brick & Bell to grab a cup of coffee and baked goods and perhaps to try their delicious breakfast offerings.

Nice location near Prospect. Dog friendly(or unfriendly as one patron had their large lab mix blocking the main stairs). Excellent, friendly, knowledgeable service. Huge selection of fresh pastries which were all to die for. The pumpkin latte was hot, thick but not too thick foam, and presweetened. It had a great roasted taste. Not burnt at all as some other reviewers have stated. Definitely the best coffee thus far in La Jolla.

Acai bowls with honey… drooling. Their granola is what makes it stand out. Soft crunchy! The line went by really fast but they’re getting only 4 stars because our order seemed to take a lot while longer than others. Overall friendly service. Tip: take the acai bowl to go.
