I’ve never had Cuban food, but this place is amazing. Their empanadas are top notch, and their bread and gravy dip is amazing.

Definitely try this place! If you are going to order a rice dish(paella) definitely CALL30 minutes ahead of time so that they can start cooking it for you. It takes that long and you don’t want to waste time sitting around. I tried the Paella del oceano and it is soooooo good! I would highly recommend it. Other dishes that I tried: Ropita vieja: classic cuban dish and they did not disappoint! Ceviche: comes with chips and delicious as well Empanadas(beef): they were smaller than I thought but oh so tasty! Agua de moros: this is like the mexican aqua frescas. They have two flavors and I forgot which one I had but the person I was with had the other and we both agreed they were really good! In general, everything was DELICIOUS! I would come back again and next time, bring a bottle of wine. They don’t serve alcohol but you are more than welcome to bring your own bottle of wine(not sure about other beverages) and there is no corkage fee. I read the other reviews and this was what others said. The restaurant is located in a mall strip and can be easily missed so look carefully if this is your first time dining here.

A great, albeit cozy, place to get some amazing Cuban food. It’s been tucked away between dry cleaners and dental offices in a small strip mall on Harbor Blvd. Where has this place been all my life? I must have driven by this place a dozen times and never noticed it. Well no more! It’s like someone is yelling out … EATATMOROS! Let me just say that Cuban food is not easy to cook. Yes some places say Cuban food but the flavors are off. Morro’s is not one of them. The flavors in every dish just kept coming. Even the black bean dip that comes with the bread! The tostones with the braised beef are like mini tostadas. I really like the texture of the fried plantain. I also tried the empanadas. They came out fresh, hot and crispy! They are a bit on the small side but had lot of flavor. For my main entrée I ordered the spicy garlic shrimp. It came out pretty quickly and piping hot. At my first taste I was in love! There is just so much flavor in the sauce. It has lots of veggies with whole roasted garlic and slices of habanero to give the large shrimp a sweet kick. Just perfect. I ate all of it! The food here is the real deal! Don’t miss a chance to try this amazing food!

One of my go to Cuban restaurants! Totally forgot to review this place haha I’ve been here a good 3 – 4 times. Every single time they have been spot on! I think their price point is pretty adorable and average. I absolutely love that you can bring your own wine and the first bottle is free corkage. Do make sure to call and check incase they finally got a liquor license. I’ve tried their yuccas, empanadas, platanos, seafood paella, skirt steak, chicken, and oxtail. Everything was pretty delicious! Definitely give them a try :) The parking lot is a bit small and it does get crowded during weekend dinner times, so be sure to call ahead.

I love Cuban food and had this place bookmarked forever. I went on a Sunday(late lunch) and it was not crowded. I ordered the mango agua de moros and it was delicious but too sweet for my taste. I tried the potato balls and they were delicious. My main course was the chicken with white rice. YUM! I was too hungry to wait 35 minutes for the paella but I will definitely come back and order it when I am not so hangry. Service was on point and they would always refill my mango drink!

My friends & I often get Pollo asado at Flamingo Palms Cuban café by Ontario mills bcs they are to die for. But Moros is close to where I live, so I came here one day to try their Pollo asado. Big disappointment & I couldn’t even finish it. Their plantain & steam rice are also not yummy like Flamingo’s. Perhaps I’ll try something different next time if I ever come back here.

Wonderful food, perfectly seasoned delivered with exceptional service! Moros does not disappoint. Start your meal with empanadas and make sure to order rice dishes first as they take 25 – 30 minutes to make. Don’t be turned off by the prep time on rice dishes, they are well worth the wait and very delicious. Our favorites: Lechon, Churrasca and Aroz con camarrones.

More of a 3.5 leaning towards 4 type of deal. I was brought here under intense hype. Whether or not that affected the results is under debate. However, I will admit that I was not that hungry upon entering this nice little Cuban restaurant. Since my friend had such high recommendations. I left the ordering up to their discretion. During the course of the night, I was able to try the papas rellenas, paella, skirt steak and cubanos. Lasting impression was left by the skirt steak and paella. I enjoyed the cubano but was not blown away. Skirt steak was spot on. Juicy, tender, flavorful. On a full stomach, I’d still give it a 10⁄10. The paella was amazing. On the salty side but exploding in flavor on every bite. All in all, I owe Moros another visit. But until next time, 3.5!

What can I say about a place that doesn’t charge a corkage fee when you bring in your own bottle of wine… that’s unheard of. Moro’s was recommended by a co-worker and it totally lived up to his hype. We stopped by last night and the place was full with one party waiting in front of us, but we only had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. It’s a cozy dining room with fun ambiance, great service and amazing food. We had several appetizers, including the Beef Empanadas, Jamon Croquettes and Fried Plantains, then we shared the Churrasco and the Lechon dish. Unlike other reviews, we are having no problems, in fact the food was over the top delicious! As far as I could tell, the dining room and restrooms were clean and I noticed no employees practicing unsafe food handling habits. We will be back!

There is something terribly wrong going on here. Over half the reviews are of people getting salmonella/food poisoning. «Food consumers beware» is a great way to put it. I’ve been here numerous times and have notice extremely poor food handling throughout the years, including coming down with food poisoning from undercooked(paella) chicken. Down hill is the direction I would say they are going and at an high speed

This review is a few months in the making. You see, I’ve been going back and forth trying to decide what I should give this place. Their food was okay — not the best — but still good. I mean, do I write off my experience as a fluke? Then I realize that my Food Safety Manager certification class came with an extensive explanation that, should you give someone food poisoning, chances are somethin’ on the backend as a whole ain’t right. I have salmonella. I mean, I HAD salmonella — this is difficult to explain — I’m not sure if I still do, and have to be tested again. But after eating my meal here, I was home for a week with food poisoning symptoms. I ate it Saturday night(having had nothing that actual day, because my eating habits are truly awful), then Sunday morning(so right in the sweet spot of incubation period), BAM! Symptoms. Which, actually, I passed off as just random anxiety. Then the rest of the week — same thing. What the hell is wrong with me? So I went to the doctor, then a GI, had a CT scan done, got a shitload(heh) of tests done, and then a final test a MONTHAND A HALFAFTER I had it — turns out it was salmonella. This means that SIXWEEKSAFTER I STILLHADIT. I basically have a super virus living in my system. Salmonella takes like, I dunno, 4 – 7 days? And in the worst possible case, can last for months. Guess which one I got? For some reason I wasn’t presenting symptoms after the first 1.5 weeks, but I definitely still tested as such. The CDC called. The public nurse told me I wasn’t allowed to cook or bake for anyone until it cleared. Then she asked me a billion questions, and also told me(erroneously) that I also had e.Coli.but called back a half hour later to tell me she read the results wrong and oh I *only* have salmonella, and turns out they can determine if it was food based(like chicken not cooked enough) or because someone didn’t wash their hands after going to the bathroom(I have the latter kind. DISGUSTING). This is quite embarrassing to admit, but I am a firm believer in knowledge as a powerhouse, so let me tell you WHY people get food poisoning from restaurants: –They are doing a bang up job educating their staff that they need to WASHTHEIRFUCKINGHANDS after going to the bathroom. And not wearing their chef coat/taking the towel in their back pocket with them/using soap and blazing hot water. –They don’t give their staff sick days which means if they’re feeling like shit, they come in anyway because they can’t afford the day off. And then cue not washing their hands well enough, ta dah. I(and probably others) have a super virus. Anyway long story short their churrasco was literally shitty so don’t get that.

This is a fine, nice little Cuban restaurant in La Habra. The selection is quite extensive, ranging from chicken, beef, and fish. I really enjoyed the fish dish, the chicken was pretty good, but the ox-tail was a bit too salty for me. The calamari appetizer was quite satisfactory. Overall, though, for Cuban food, I prefer the flavor of Felix Continental Café and Versailles, but that’s quite a standard, and that’s also more of a personal preference. This one is pretty good, but a bit less subtle for my personal taste. Good presentation and atmosphere. For a date, this place works well. Interior is small but not too small and finely decorated with deep colors and clean. A group of 2 – 4 should be able to seat comfortably. The service is friendly. It is located along with other businesses, so parking is aplenty.

We were in the neighborhood and decided to have lunch here. This is a small restaurant in a not so fancy shopping center. The inside is bright, cheery, and clean, not at all what I expected. All of the food on the menu looked delicious, it was hard to decide what to order. I really wanted a rice dish, but the menu says they take 30 — 40 minutes to prepare since they make the rice fresh… I didn’t want to wait that long, so I went with the Ropita Vieja. Hubby got the Cubano sandwich, and we split an order of Papas Rellanas. The Papas Rellanas were good, although a bit bland on their own. We did love the sauce served with them, without the sauce though, I have had better. My Ropita Vieja was very good, tender juicy meat, but missing spice. I added the sauce served the the appetizer to give it a kick. His Cubano was also very flavorful, but no texture. He realized after we left there was supposed to have been pickles on it, which would have given some needed crunch and acidity. We were both happy with our lunches though, and ended up bringing half home for dinner that night. I added some hot sauce to mine it and I liked it better with the heat. There are closer Cuban places that I enjoy more, so I would not drive out of my way to eat here again, but if I was in the area I would go back. I would also go when I had time to wait for a rice dish, as their seafood paella looked amazing!

Moros Cuban Restaurant is truly a hidden gem, located in a strip mall that includes businesses like Metro PCS and Pizza Hut, specifically located right next to La Habra Densitry. Parking may be limited in the plaza, but my husband and I were lucky to find a spot yesterday when we came for lunch a little after 1 pm. When we came in, we were greeted by one male employee behind the display glass and told to sit at this small table off to the side. Shortly after, a female employee came over with menus. I asked her if the Sunday brunch buffet was still going on(the reason why we came out here… this was our 1st time here by the way). She said ‘there’s still some food left’ and then left. Both my husband and I were a little confused because we didn’t know if we were supposed to order off the menu for the buffet or not, especially since we did not see a buffet table. So after this male server was done taking down an order for the table behind us, he told us that there are 2 options for dining. One is that we can order from the menu or the other is to eat the Sunday brunch buffet. We told him we wanted the brunch buffet and so he said it is up at the front(buffet is only available on Sunday from 11 am– 2 pm). So my husband and I walked up to the counter where we saw some plates but wasn’t too sure if were supposed to pick up plates and give it to the employee behind. But an employee came out and told us he will scoop everything for us. He then told us what items they had: –Cuban Roasted Chicken -«Abuela’s» Ropa Vieja –Lechon Asado –Fried Fish(some type of white fish) –Arroz con Pollo -«Cuban» Sirloin Steak –Seafood Paella –Cuban fried rice –Fried Plantanis –Ceviche and chips –Pineapple slices –Mix greens — — — — — — — (Total= $ 32 prior to tax for 2… $ 16 per person) My favorites of the buffet was the fried fish, seafood paella, mixed green salad(I always have to get my greens) and plantains. I thought the ceviche was too acidic(but this was my husband’s favorite). The male server and male employee who scooped our plates were very friendly and helpful. But the server we had was pretty bad. She never took away our dirty dishes or came by to bring water or check up on us(I would have added a 4th star if the service was better from her). But she was much faster at getting us our check and processing it though. But aside from that lousy server, the food is delicious and I think the price per person is fair. One thing that I do want to note is that when this restaurant plates your food for this buffet, the portions may seem small(helps to cut down on waste when the employees plate it). But this is a bottomless buffet, so you can come and get as much food as you desire. Also wanted to mention that there are two separate restrooms(single toilet). The woman’s restroom was clean upon this visit. Most likely won’t come back here since I am not normally in La Habra, but it was worth driving out here after church on a Sunday.

I was introduced to Moro’s years ago and have been coming back ever since for their authentic and really yummy food. The space is small and almost always packed! You’re able to bring your own bottle of wine and enjoy it during dinner. Love a restaurant that allows for outside alcohol to be brought in. That’s a huge money saver right there. Aside from that, the food and service is impeccable. The complimentary bread and warm bean dip is the perfect combo to open up your appetite. The empanadas joined with chimichurri will make your mouth water for days after craving another one. I’ve tried so many entrée’s off the menu and can’t seem to pinpoint which is my favorite because each entrée offers different robust flavors, all of which are phenomenal. Food is always cooked fresh and the staff is so pleasant that I never mind waiting for my food to be brought out. During the week they have a lunch buffet with more than enough items to choose from. Great price too! In my opinion that is the perfect time to check out Moro’s. That way you’ll have the option to try various menu items your first time around. Hands down the perfect Cuban restaurant in the area.

I don’t give 5 stars often, but Moros totally deserves it because this is the restaurant at which you will instantly start salivating upon stepping through its doors. Their food is incredible! I almost don’t want to write this review because it is such a gem. LOL. I have been here many times and have tried most of the items on the menu. Everything is good, but here are some of my favorite: churrasco, ropita viaja, lechon asado, calamari, garlic shrimp, ceviche, plantains, and the calamari salad(forgot the full name). What makes this place so special? The spices! Every dish that I’ve ever tried here has had incredible flavor and the meat is always perfectly cooked. Even the ones that I think are just good, not great, like their paella(good, but not their best in comparision to the rest of their menu), are better in quality and flavor than menu items at many other restaurants. I do have to say that a few times out of the many that I have eaten here the chefs may have over salted the food a bit; that’s my only real complaint. By the way, if you are a wine drinker you can bring your own bottle of wine and they will open and serve it to you WITHOUT A CORKINGFEE. Do note that Moros does not serve alcohol on their menu, so bring your own. The food goes great with wine! The atmosphere works well for small groups and couples on dates(tables cater best to groups of 4 or less-large groups will likely wait for a while because the whole restaurant only has 15 small tables). Speaking of wait time, if you come here on the weekend for dinner, EXPECT to wait. It does take the kitchen some time to get the dishes out, but there is great quality in «slow food» and I don’t mind waiting as long as I am already seated. You can consider ordering for pick up to avoid the wait or come really early. Also if you have children who can’t sit still during a meal, you probably don’t want to bring them. This is a small restaurant with servers running between narrow spaces between tables, so it is ill-advised to bring«energetic» children who like to run around in restaurants. Just saying… Anyway, as far as the service goes, the wait staff is really friendly and helpful. I have never been dissatisfied with their service. Pay a visit to Moros and you will not be dissappointed!

A friend was visiting and I brought her here for dinner. Also there’s a Unilocal deal, $ 29 dinner for 2. One appetizer and 2 entrees. I called in advanced before coming in as they need 30 mins to prepare any entrée. Based on the staff’s recommendation, I went for Vaca Frita, shredded beef served with crispy onion and pepper with mojo sauce. As much as I wanna like it, the beef were tough, small portion and it difficult to eat. My friend ordered the Arroz Con Camarones. Jumbo shrimps slow simmered with saffron rice. This one was flavorful, portion was big and plenty of shrimps to go around. We got the fried calamaris as well and it’s crispy, and really good. Servers were attentive, drinks were topped up without being asked. I took out 2 stars coz I didn’t like my dish. Such a bummer.

The BF has been trying to come have a meal at this place. It’s been bookmarked for while — but what he didn’t know it was so close to his work and his favorite Costco. We walk into a very intimate and cozy restaurant. As soon as we walked in(for lunch), we got seated immediately and our server came to take our drink orders. We told her that it was our first time at this place. She immediately pointed out the local and her favorites. I ordered the vaca frita. When it came out, the presentation was gorgeous. However upon taking the first bite, it was too greasy. I couldn’t take a bite without tasting grease. Even when I mixed it with other things. I couldn’t take it and had to ask for another order — which she graciously replaced with the ropa vieja. My replacement order was seasoned well, but could have been a bit more tender. Overall, it was solid and it could be a go-to dish. The bf ordered the lechon, which was really tasty. The meat was crunchy and tender. It was really seasoned well. I highly recommend this dish. The beans and rice was seasoned very well. Our server is very attentive and awesome. Overall tasty food would come back just not for the vaca frita. I come back and would try their lunch buffet on Sundays. Moros is located in a small strip mall and easily missed if you’re not looking for it. Parking can be hit or miss because the lot is shared between restaurants, retail, and other tenants in the mall.

We found Moro’s through Hot on Unilocal. They are #1. Their food was made fresh which meant a long wait for our Ropa Vieja and Pollo Asado. My ropa vieja was tasty, it came with rice and plantains. The beef was tender and well seasoned. I tried their Agua de Moros which had a melon taste when I had it. We talked to the server regarding the Unilocal Deal and she was well informed. She explained it included any appetizer and any two entrees for $ 25. We also added an Arroz con Leche, which had a bit too much cinnamon. Our servers were very attentive and came by every five minutes. After calculating our meal we realized there was no need for the deal because we had spent under $ 25 but where still charged the Unilocal Deal :(The prices were extremely reasonable for the quality of the food. We also had the opportunity to meet with the owner who was very proud of being #1 on Hot on Unilocal. He was also fully aware of the leading competitor and recommended we try them. Very honorable.
