Meh… decent beer selection, decent prices, decent service. But the strangest atmosphere. Maybe it’s my age talking but I was looking forward to a nice quiet dive bar with good beer but instead I got a bar with pounding club music and douche bags that were drinking orange wheat beer trying to keep their white sneakers clean. Sorry but I don’t think I’ll be returning, they’re catering to the young club kids and that’s just not my scene.

My girlfriend suggested we check this place out a few nights ago. We were surprised the selection of beers. The house beers are excellent. Fun entertainment. A pool table and huge connect 4 had us hooked. We were a little bummed that the pool table ate our dollars a few times but the bartender was kind enough to return what we put in. Definitely great for a date night.

Went on a Saturday night around 7 and it wasn’t too busy, but it picked up around 10. Didn’t realize it was a game day, so sometimes it got pretty loud for a small place. But can’t blame the owners for that! It is great you can bring in your own food, and there are a couple of tasty places in the vicinity. I really enjoyed the board games! And the beer list was great. I tried their Irish Red and it was good. I was also happy they had Ace, which I love. Overall, enjoyed it, I just wish I lived a bit closer.

I thought I knew what made a tap room a destination; the qualities that would draw crowds and bring back their friends too on future occasions… The day I walked into Cask & Hammer, I found my preconceived notions to be challenged. On even the slowest night, Cask & Hammer emits an ethereal warmth that draws people of all walks into it’s modern, cozy interior. I’m always pleasantly surprised to find friendly strangers who are willing to join group conversations and partake in the occasional game of «Giant Jenga», with some coaxing from the bartenders; who, by the way, are the best in the business. Not only are they well versed on their knowledge of craft beer, but they are more than willing to devote the time and effort into finding a first-timer something they will enjoy. Every member of the staff is top notch, professionally and as people. The 30+ rotating beers on tap are always hand-selected from the finest collections of brews from the best of the best breweries in the country; and nowhere else will you find them more affordably priced. Whether you’re looking for a mellow weekday getaway, or seeking a lively, welcoming roost for a bustling weekend, there’s something for everyone at Cask & Hammer.

Definitely not expecting this place to be in that little plaza on Harbor! From the outside, it didn’t look like much, sitting next to a liquor store and I think a Pizza Hut. The windows are all blacked out. Once inside, there’s a very hipster-esque, comfortable vibe with the board games and old barrel tables. The tap list is displayed using small chalk boards on the left wall, and they rotate every few weeks I think. There are two pool tables in the back. The beer list is pretty awesome, especially considering where it’s located. The bartenders are super awesome and friendly! They don’t serve food, only peanuts, but they did say we were allowed to bring food in if we wanted. This might be my new favorite beer spot!

Cask & Hammer is the perfect craft beer bar and unlike anything La Habra has to offer. A rotating selection of craft beers, a charming owner, and an awesome staff are all a girl could ask for. Highly recommended for any beer lover!

The Cask & Hammer has a good selection of craft beer and a decent if small space. So why won’t I be back? The bartender. He was snotty and unfriendly as hell. There was only one other patron there, so it’s not like he was slammed. Just rude. He even tried to beer snob shame me when I asked if he had Hangar 24. You’d of thought I asked for Budweiser. I really hope the guy owns the place, because I hate to think that someone’s paying him to drive paying customers away. It was the first time in recent memory I drank a single beer in a new place. Suck my citra, jerk.

LOVE this local gem! How often do you find an all craft beer bar in la habra of all places? This place has good vibes, board games, human size Jenga, pool tables, music and the beer selection is ALWAYS on point. Happy hour is 4p-6p with beers for only $ 5! They also do NFL Sunday specials. I not only come for the exceptional beer(which they change out weekly) but also for the amazing bartenders. Go in and visit Pega if you have an early day off! Or head over Friday nights where a couple works the bar together. If you love beer and amazing atmospheres, head in and enjoy yourself at the Cask and Hammer.

Stopped in here a few days ago and just wanted to check out the place. First off, place was very clean but really slow, which was not that big of a negative. Staff was polite and offered some samples so I could get a beer that I would truly enjoy. All in all I’ll be stopping in again, can’t beat a craft beer during happy hours from 4−7pm for $ 5. This place also has quite a few t. v’s for the size and two new pool tables. I met a couple that was already having beers, seemed like a friendly place to meet new people that enjoy crafts.

It’s a perfect spot to go hang out whatever the occasion might be… whether it’s to watch a football game, play some pool, play board games, listen to great music, or enjoy a drink after work! Great Atmosphere! Staff were super friendly! Definitely will be returning !

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – ESSENTIALTIPS&EXECUTIVESUMMARY: — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – # La Habra’s first official craft beer establishment. Chain restaurants do not count. And it’s about goddamn time that La Habra had this need filled # They have 25 – 30GOOD craft beers on tap and thankfully you won’t find any domestics such as Bud, Bud Light, Miller, Miller Light, Coors Light, or anything that resembles La Habra municipal tap water mixed in with urine for yellow coloring # Price is $ 6.75 per beer, which is a very fair price since it applies to all of their beer, including the cask ale # There is no food here so you’re welcome to bring your own or order from Moro’s Cuban or Thai Time next door. The restaurants will deliver to you since you’re only a few steps away # Ask for peanuts or pretzels to munch on if the bartender forgets to give you some # Board games are off to the side of the bar. You can bet things like your sobriety when you play against your friends. It’ll be fine. You won’t remember a thing # You can play pool here if you can feed the table some quarters # While classified as a dive bar, it’s not run down like one. Cask & Hammer has new stools, clean laminate floors, dark wooden bar, 4TV screens, and a wooden ambience that will help you unwind from whatever it is you’re thinking about # It will take time for the much younger, vibrant crowd to roll in. Because this bar used to Don Chela, you’ll see a few of the old-timers visit and go through a mid-life crisis of beer. You mean no BUD?! — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – MYEXPERIENCE: — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – I decided that yesterday would be a good opportunity to visit Cask & Hammer. I was cramped up at home and had to get out of the house, especially to watch the USC v. Stanford game. I meant to tailgate at USC campus prior to the game, but I woke up late and no one confirmed with me on tailgate plans, so I decided it wasn’t worth the drive. The drive here though? 5 minutes. Way more enticing than a 40 minute drive + parking time + walking time to USC. Driving down, it was strange for me to think I’m driving down to LAHABRA, my hometown, a city that no Southern California native can identify on a map except to know enough geography to nod in affirmation when asked about where Fullerton, Whittier, Brea, Rowland Heights, and La Mirada are. I was expecting a solid bar to hang out at and it fulfilled my expectations. They had real craft brews from independent breweries that are local to our region and our state, not the«fake» or «corrupted» ones from larger breweries that were bought out by the beer conglomerates. I read the prior reviews on here so I knew there was no food. My answer to that was bringing some jalapeño kettle chips from Stater Bros. and walked in with confidence, knowing my bag would not get confiscated. I arrived 2 minutes after 5PM and luckily the USC v. Stanford game hadn’t started yet so that gave me time to make beer decisions. By the time I left near 7PM(halftime mark), I gulped down 4 beers, asked for 6 tap samples, and ate nearly 1000 calories in chips. I swear I’m not recovering from an abusive relationship. The conditions were perfect for this storm to happen. Speaking of conditions, that Drake’s Aroma Coma cask ale was finely conditioned, unpasteurized, and delicious. This is what went down: I had the Stone Ruination triple IPA, Avery Lilikoi, and 2 glasses of the Drake’s Aroma Coma cask ale. Throughout the 2 quarters of football I watched, sipping away at my brews, an older biker gentleman chatted me up periodically about… I have no idea. I enjoy conversations with strangers, but I found him a bit annoying because he mumbled frequently and seemed out of it. He said something about fucking a gogo dancer and I said something like«That’s nice», smiled at him, and reverted my eyes back at the screen. One thing that was interesting(and actually understood from his mumbling) was that he told me he came to this bar a few visits ago asking for a Coors Light and when the staff offered him a tastier craft brew that was similar to… I guess water? He loved it and the world of craft brews opened up to him. That’s great news to see an old timer discover this world, but for me to find out which types of female ass he likes spanking in Hollywood, not so much. Also, there’s sparkling hop water on the menu called H2hops. I’ve seen craft sodas before, but not craft water. Citizens of La Habra, I bring you… drinkable water! There was a point in time when La Habra forgot to test its water and sent a notice to its citizens saying WHOOPS. Uhh okay. If that ever happens again, order some H2hops or better yet drink some beer here. That’s what Europeans did to survive the Black Plague, cholera, and any diseases involving contaminated water. La Habrans I figure would do the same. I’ll be back soon for another glass.

La Habra finally has a cool dive bar that serves craft beer, Hallelujah! As the self-proclaimed ambassador of La Habra I can say that this bar — without question — is going to be new hangout spot for 20 — 30 somethings. Cask & Hammer reigns superior in every aspect over the previous bar that was in this location(Don Chela) so comparing the two businesses would be a complete waste of time. Okay now for an objective analysis of ‘pros and cons’ Pros: 30 different craft beers on tap(ales, heffs, stouts, IPA, and cask ale) free peanuts, large screen tv’s, 2 pool tables(not free), jukebox, purse hooks(my favorite part), Samsung A/C is on full blast, free board games, playing cards, free Wi-Fi, and of course the most important part … excellent staff! Cons: the place is a matchbox, absolutely teeny tiny so you might wanna leave the squad at home and try doing a tinder date instead(just a suggestion). Lastly they have beer flights for sale but they only serve 4 glasses at a time(for the same price you could get 5 or 6 elsewhere like The Brewery in Placentia). Verdict: despite being physically small, this joint makes a pretty big statement. 4.5÷5

Cool little craft beer bar. I came here on a Saturday and it was a little dead there. There are two pool tables in the back and a Juke box. Inside looks like a normal neighbor dive bar. They have a wide assortment of IPA’s mixed in with a few hefs, ale’s and stouts. I ordered the Drake stout on nitro and I wasnt a big fan of it. I love stouts but Drake’s Stout tasted a bit watered down. Overall cool little craft beer spot to stop by and grab a beer if you in the area.
