I grew up in Chicago and when I come home to visit I have to stop by Fannie Mae. The workers are always helpful and fast. The chocolates are amazing, my favorites are the mint meltaways and caramels, but really everything is great. My only complaint are the prices, $ 45 for 3 .5 lb boxes.

Went here with a lady friend the other day. I was planning on getting some delicious chocolate to munch on while she had some coffee. I got a classic Pixie and she got a PB Crème Egg. My conclusion is that it tasted very, mass produced. I understand that, well, it is, but I was expecting a bit more from what I bought. Fannie Mae has a great reputation in the Chicagoland area, and that is why I took my out of town visitor here. I had to apologize to her because I think she was as disappointed as I was. I don’t want to completely discredit FM, they do have good chocolate. I love their plain chocolate bars(Milk, Dark, Almond, Caramel, and Crisp Rice). But as far as what I ordered, I have had MUCH better/higher quality from a smaller, «non-corporate» type place. I thought it was quite expensive for the quantity and quality of the chocolate I bought. Also, I did not enjoy the lack of friendliness of the female employee that helped us. She seemed super enthused to be there and showed it. The bottom line is, would I be happy if someone bought me Fannie Mae? Yes Would I enjoy eating it? Yes Would I go out of my way to get some on a random day? Never

Newly remodeled location. It’s very clean inside. They always have what I’m shopping for. I’ve done business with two different employees and they have always been attentive and kind. They aren’t pushy and they encourage tasting of available samples. I can’t say one bad word about this establishment except possibly the parking situation. Street parking is not always easy to find. But that’s not their fault. The BEST time to visit is when they have buy 1, get 1 free!

Great chocololates, horrible customer service and basic management stupidity! On the day before Fathers’ Day, they only had ONE person working in the store, Valerie, who seemed hell-bent on working as slowly as possible, asking folks all sorts of stupid questions when they were clear about what they wanted, and basically being a pain in the Sass. Store management, here’s a tip for you: when it is the day before a holiday, staff up for Gad’s sake! There were people walking out left and right, so you lost a lot of customers trying to keep your staffing costs down. Sheesh! Note that since they have gotten bought out, their prices have gotten QUITE a bit higher as well. My dad loves their chocolate, but next time I’ll definitely try a different store or order on-line to avoid the staff and dumb management at this location.
