Out of business. Closed in December of 2015. Gonna miss the anti pasta and pizza! Unilocal told me that just saying the business was closed isn’t long enough to be a review and would be post as a tip. I’d rather see the info about them being closed be posted as a review, so I’m repeating the info a few times.

This place was good in 1985, it is now a complete dump, period Last time I was there in 2012 there were pink chairs and exposed electrical wiring The food was awful

Friendly waitstaff, tasty greens for the salad, hot food, reasonable prices. That is all the good I can report. The pizza I ordered needed more sausage and the green peppers tasted like they were cooked before they were put on the pizza. Overall, not a good pizza!

When we walked in the first thing we smelled was delicious pizza in the air… we ordered a large, and it was so yummy we ate the whole thing! Definitely will return…

Alex and Aldo’s is a hidden old school GEM! The pizza is fantastic and everyone knows each other here. It’s like cheers. The service is exceptionally quick and friendly. The prices are insanely great. Wednesday is 20% off pizza night and you can get a carafe of wine. I am a big time FAN of this place. The salad was great and it’s the best ranch dressing in the western burbs for sure. We will be regulars here and they will know my name soon enough like everyone else that visits this establishment!

It is what it is!!! The décor is a throwback to a time gone by. The butter was hard. They served us root beer in a big plastic cup – the ones with like 20 long vertical sides on it that we used in our house when I was a kid. The special was awesome: pork, dumplings and sauerkraut. And we had a pitcher of Schlitz beer! Pizza was good, too! As far as the complaints about the kitchen closing early, give a little grace, most of they staff is in their 60s! If Cordials were a restaurant this place is exactly what it would be. Bam! I’m going back!

As Mike T stated do not attempt to go here an hour/hour and a half before closing. You will get dirty looks and offerened pizza only. It was actually really uncomfortable but we left and went elsewhere. Really disappointed since this is so close to home.

Y’know, after all the negative reviews I was deterred and I live 2 blocks away. Took me a while to try it pout but pretty good pizza. Thin crispy crust, good sauce, and fresh add ons. They were just about closed when I walked in and were very friendly.

I attempted to eat here tonight. I walked in, being alone, I asked to sit at the counter/bar. There were a couple of tables with customers and two eaters at the bar — one of which was eating a salad. There was one waitress that I could see, and another man, presumably the owner who told me the bar seat was fine. As soon as I sat, the waitress asked me if I was eating, to which I replied, «yes». She handed me the menu, and just as I was about to open it, she continued with, «well, it only pizza now, we already closed that half of the kitchen». Mind you, its approximately 8:39 pm, and their website says that they are open until ten. She asked what I had in mind, and I told her I was looking for some pasta or ravioli. She looked at me, and said, «Lasagna?». I said no. Meanwhile, she and the presumed owner are exchanging silent glances. Originally, when she asked me if I was going to eat, I wanted to tell her, «no, I’m coming to an italian restaurant at 8:30pm on a thursday to get wasted.» — but I am not a rude person. THEWORSTPARTABOUTTHIS is that it is the second time I have gone into this restaurant, and they gave me the same spiel about closing half of the kitchen. WTF is that? I mean, how do you close half of a kitchen, and an hour and a half earlier than what your website says??? Do yourself a favor if you want Italian food in this area — go to Lucca’s, Bacino’s, or Franchesca’s — all of which are in La Grange — because this place is not the friendly neighborhood place with good food.

Really disappointed. They have a clear preference for their regular customers. I took my wife there because I’d heard nothing but good reviews. The waitress brought the menus and immediately asked, «What do you want to drink?» Since we hadn’t yet looked at the menus, we said we’d start with water. After she came back, we asked for cokes with no ice, and she turned around without a word, walked behind the bar and started complaining about the«picky» customers who don’t want ice and that we «changed our mind» about our drinks. And then she brought them with ice immediately after complaining within earshot that we had asked for it without. All the while, regular customers were being greeted warmly by name. From then on, she dropped food at our table without a word until halfway through the meal when she suddenly became friendly. I don’t know what changed other than maybe one of the other employees hearing us talking about how we were ready to walk out. The food was pretty good although we didn’t try the pizza. But the experience was a letdown.

I used to live right down the street from this place, so I would stop in often. Mostly for their pizza, but every now and then I would get a sandwich or pasta dish, and would be greatly disappointed. Unfortunately, the pizza now isn’t as good when Alex and Aldo were actually the owners and working in the kitchen. The crust is still decent, but the sauce tastes like it came straight from a can and they sometimes don’t put enough on. If you wanna check this place, go with the pizza. Even though it’s not what it used to be.

I have to agree with C.A.‘s review. We used to think the pizza here was decent. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve ordered it – since we’ve typically ordered from Al’s – but we brought one home this weekend. I’ve always liked the cracker crust and the pizza prices are pretty reasonable. On the plus side, it’s not excessively salty like many pizzas can be. But this time around we noticed that the pizza has lost quite a bit of its flavor too. Perhaps that’s the sauce? More importantly, one thing that has been super consistent over the 5+ years we’ve ordered pizza from here is the rude /aloof service. It’s all about them. It’s as if they’re doing us a favor by answering the phone, hearing our order, or acknowledging us. When the hub came to get the pizza, they didn’t help him right away. Then it was like a hot potato experience: one lady takes the pizza and throws it on the counter and then calls some other guy to ring it up, and then he gets irritated by being called over to do it and shifts it back over to her to finish up. It’s just an unprofessional and dismissive way to act in front of customers, and it’s always kept us from actually deciding to dine in. So A&A, I think it’s time for us to ‘see other people’. If you really have that many folks who will overlook the service and still keep your business running, then you probably won’t notice the absence.

I grew up in the immediate area and my family went here occasionally, meaning once or twice. After moving to Berwyn from the city, really good pizza was hard to find. Salerno’s in Oak Park is good but it’s expensive and the middle pieces are like grease lakes. Al’s in Cicero was pretty good but not memorable and the first time I got Villa Nova in Stickney(after hearing amazing things about it) I was not impressed and half of it was barely cooked. With my favorite pizza in all of the Chicago area being Vito and Nick’s, I was always somewhat pizza depressed when I didn’t get it from there. Enter Alex and Aldo’s who has cured my pizza depression of two sad years. A friend’s parents recommended it and I have had it twice since. First off, it’s like $ 13 for a large 14″ with two toppings(What? you ask. How is that possible?). Well they do it. The pizza is great, thin, almost cracker crust. The real test is the middle pieces. You pick it up and it magically stays intact and straight and doesn’t flop around like a soggy mess. Bye bye sub-par thin crust pizza in the greater Berwyn area. This is my new joint. Also when I ordered a Schlitz on tap while I waited for my pizza to go the owner told me, «Good choice.» I like this place very much.

Good food. But horrible customer service. Woman on the phone was rude and after waiting for over an hour for my delivery, I called(because they can’t pick up the phone and call me), they didn’t even know they were supposed to deliver the order! Needless to say, I will be ordering from elsewhere in the future.

This is our usual pizza place we order from. It is probably the most consistent pizza place I’ve been to in the area. We always do pick up or delivery so I have no idea how the service inside is, but our pizza is always fresh and crisp when we get it. They seem to have a very good balance of cheese and sauce(Hate overly saucy pizzas!), and not overly greasy. Compared to other pizza places in the area, the prices are very reasonable.

The worst Italian beef I have had in my life. The meat was gray, thick, and clearly had been cooked a very long time ago. Pizza was below average compared to the myriad of options in the area. Won’t be ordering again.

I’ve gone to Alex&Aldo’s since Alex and Aldo actually worked there. The place is quiet and cozy. It’s nothing fancy, just a typical, local, old-fashion Italian restaurant. They were known for their pizza and I used to love it. I went here last week for the first time in over 5yrs. I knew the place had undergone new ownership, so I expected there to be some changes. First the waitress brought out the bread, but they didn’t have any oil. Second, the menu is still very Italian but with many additions(some not so good). We started off with the antipasti appetizer, and I seriously doubt any of it was authentic or original. It was obvious the meat was put on the plate directly from a lunch meat package; and the four slices of cheese were probably purchased from the local Jewel. The pizza shortly followed fresh from the kitchen. While it wasn’t bad by any means, it just wasn’t quite the same. I remember their sauce having a very memorable taste to it. The sauce on the pizza we had was bland and typical. Overall, my experience was pretty average: nothing terrible at all, but at the same time, nothing memorable. The wait staff was extremely friendly and considerate, but the food is not quite what it used to be. Lastly, how do they not have cannelloni?

Tried Alex and Aldo’s for the first time tonight. Surprised it took so long since they’re hardly a mile away from where I live. Got pepperoni pizza with gardiniera on one half. My son enjoyed his half and I also enjoyed my spicier side — very tasty. Not my favorite as far as crust goes, but A&A is probably my first or second favorite of the many local pizza places I’ve tried. Also got the«Cheese Olive Balls» — cheesy dough with an olive in the middle and baked. Tasty, though the cheese was subtle. A little melted mozzarella over the tops or some marinara for dipping might put them over the top. Will definitely be back — looking forward to trying the pasta.
