I enjoyed the City Brewery tour several years ago. If you’re in town and have an hour to learn about local La Crosse history, I recommend the brewery tour. You get to see behind the scenes – the fermentation tanks and extensive machinery involved in storing/filtering beer and the bottling facility. At the end of the tour, we were invited to sample a few of the local beers. I especially liked the La Crosse Lager. Very tasty! On a separate occasion, I stopped in their bar/hospitality center during a party and thought it was a nice venue for hosting a large party or gathering

My hometown is famous for having the World’s Largest Six Pack. Since I grew up in this city, I don’t really think about the landmark. I just drive by it. Because I was in town for a few days visiting my parents, I decided to stop the car and really see the six pack in all its glory. Those massive tanks of beer hold enough for about 7.3 million cans, according to the sign. Only four of the tanks are covered in vinyl with the La Crosse Lager label. The beer is made by City Brewery, which used to be the G. Heileman Brewery. While the cans are impressive, I think out-of-towners and beer enthusiasts will give them a higher rating than I did. Standing in front of the six pack, I looked up, I looked down. Fifteen minutes later, I was in my car. I saw it all. I didn’t need to stop by again.
