Clean place, quiet and convenient. The place was nothing special but it was good for the price. I just wish the towels were a little better and bedspread was updated. It’s a drive up motel with a bench in front for a nice spot to sit and ponder your life choices.

I really liked this place. We always have trouble finding rooms in La Crosse on the weekends. We had a group going in that direction and were able to get 5 rooms at the Welch. For the money, this place can’t be beat! The rooms were all clean and comfortable. Many of the showers had been re-done with nice tiles. The manager running the place was very friendly and accommodating to our group. The location is away from downtown. This wasn’t a problem for us — we were able to take taxis for about $ 8 before tip. Support the small local businesses & stop here next time you are looking for a room in La Crosse. Clean, friendly and excellent value — especially for the price. We paid $ 68-$ 78 per room based on the # of beds.

This is now my go too place since the Guest House Motel closed. The place is inexpensive, they clean it well, it is quite… the staff is great, everything one could want in an independent roadside motel. The only downside(and this is why I stayed at the Guest House) is that it is too far from downtown to make walking reasonable at all. Otherwise, perfect.

We like to support independent businesses when we can and Welch Motel did not disappoint. You can tell that they make an effort: clean room, comfortable bed, refrig, microwave and bathroom with nice ceramic and fixtures. Very reasonable price made this a good choice for our one night stop-over.

This remains the low cost, locally owned lodging of choice in La Crosse. It looks like some improvements have been made since our last visit. The bathroom in our room had been recently remodeled with new shower, tile and fixtures, and the bedroom now featured a new a/c unit, microwave and fridge. The queen bed was comfortable, the free wi-fi was free, and the«classic» analog TV went unused. Gripes? The pop machine stole my dollar, and the room could use a bottle opener to go with that mini-fridge. All the same, I love this place and I’m not downgrading my rating. If I’m in La Crosse, this is where to find me… when I’m not at Digger’s Sting…
