Stopped in to take a break on a long drive. This is a great(mostly used) book store. it’s not too big and it’s pretty well organized. Will defiantly make a point of stopping in again if I am in the area.

Very nice selection of books. My entire family reads including my young children. We loved this store and they were very helpful. Each of us walked out with a couple books under our arms…

Pearl Street Books is one of my favorite places to purchase texts. Pearl Street Books has it all; a vast collection of titles, congenial service, and a perfect location. I have been coming here for books since I can remember. When I lived in downtown La Crosse, I found myself perusing the collection after getting a coffee, for hours. Pearl Street Books is the epitome of classic book store. I recommend it to everyone. Whether you live in La Crosse, or you are just visiting, this is a peaceful and fulfilling destination. The employees are helpful and friendly, and the store-front and store itself are historically beautiful. Avoid chain book stores and put your money back into the community, into an establishment with class, like Pearl Street Books.

We wandered into this most charming bookshop on a whim but am so glad we did. First of all, just aesthetically, it is a really cool looking book shop. Something about the way the proprietor has arranged the books on the lower shelves vertically and the upper shelves horizontally just looks so cool when you’re talking about floor-to-ceiling shelves of books. I really just thought it was so artistic and cool. Second — selection. Very vast and broad. Very well organized(oh I do love a store that is organized). Books were in very good condition and easy to browse. I could have seriously spent some good time in this shop. I also enjoyed the selection of local photography and notecards from local photographers. Love to see those sorts of things in shops. Staff was not pushy but was helpful. Everyone I was with left with an armful of books, which says something about the high quality of my friends and also about the quality of this lovely shop.

Excellent selection — browsed for about an hour and found some real gems. Compared to other book sellers, used and new, the selection was varied and of high quality. Will definitely be stopping back.

Pearl Street Books was my go-to book store for years. Half my book shelf is from Pearl Street. They have great selection that varies quite often. I used to come in once a week, and always found a new book. Set up is excellent — much nicer than those bargain basement dives. They are sorted neatly by genre and author. Best part is that after buying your new book, you can walk through to Jules and read it over a cup of coffee!

I love books. And this place is great – I could spend a whole afternoon here. It feels cozy and booky without being too overloaded or musty. They have an awesome selection, tons of random books but also lot of new books, and a really helpful staff who seem to somehow know every book they have in stock.

This place is EPIC! It is the most open and organized used bookstore I have ever been to. Prices are reasonable — they know what their books are worth. Less than half of list price for most newer used books. They also have new new books for full price — usually NYT bestsellers. The entire store is ALPHABETIZED! Staff is extremely knowledgable, friendly, and helpful. If you are in La Crosse, this is a stop that you cannot miss.

I had a good time browsing books here and came away with three I knew I’d read right away. I think Jennifer K. might be right that you could find cheaper used books elsewhere. At Pearl Street Books, a paperback in good condition with a $ 15 original price might be marked down to $ 8.99. However, I really like the set-up of the bookstore. Things are organized into categories. I’ve gone to other used bookstores where books are in piles everywhere and you can’t find anything.

I’m a book freak, so if I’m going to Jules Coffee house, I’m going to the attached bookstore. This has lots of used books, with a nice selection-except it is really expensive. There are several pretty beat up books that they are trying to charge over ten bucks for. I looked at a kids basal reader from 1983, and they were charging eleven bucks for it. I could have gotten something like that for a quarter at a garage sale. It’s fun for perusing though.
