Le Chateau

Wow. Went for a fancy date night and was not disappointed. We had delicious escargot, lamb wellington, and duck cassoulet. We also had crème brûlée and a molasses spice cake. I can’t say which was my favorite because it was really all delicious. Okay, maybe the cassoulet – really, really nice blend of flavors.
Notably, we are a same-​sex couple and we were treated very well. That doesn’t always happen in this area of the country.
The ONLY possible things that could be improved are a) signage to find the bathroom and b) clarification that the bathroom is a single stall. The door to the women’s bathroom can be opened from the outside even if the person inside has tried to lock it – not great!
I would go back to Le Château for another fancy date night anytime I could afford it. The prices are absolutely reasonable for how wonderful it is, but it’s far above my usual price range. For the food I described above + 3 glasses of wine, we spent a little under $ 150 (2 people).

Incredible food! I recommend the Lamb Skewer! I’m 17 and take my girlfriend here on special occasions! I’ve also been to France twice, and let me tell you, this is very authentic! Everything is incredible and although it’s somewhat pricy, they could charge twice as much and it would still be a good deal! Highly recommended!

This was our first visit. Would definitely come back. The atmosphere and food was phenomenal. We were served by the owners wife. She gave us a little history of where she was from and the home. This home provides a beautiful atmosphere for a French restaurant. The owner and his wife complement that with fantastic food and great service.
If you are in the La Crosse area this is a must stop for dining. It’s more than just dining it’s a wonderful experience.
The wine selection is very good with a lot of French offerings.
Food portions are large for this type of restaurant, so make sure you save room for dessert.

Le Château provides an elegant French dining experience with fabulous food and an extensive wine list. If you are looking for a Bar and Grill or a restaurant that wants to rush you out the door, go some place else. This is a relaxed upscale dining experience. We have eaten there many times and have never been disappointed. Make the dining experience your evening entertainment. You will not be disappointed.

Tonight was Le Château’s fall food and wine pairing. Parsnip amuse busche soup thickened with almonds, caramelized onion tart, brussels sprouts and steamed radish with shaved parmesan, duck sausage cassoulet with white beans, and spiced cake with brown butter icing and poached apple. But the surprise was the ginger beer served with dessert. Yummy.

Stuffed quail with barley and the trout with gnocchi had delicate sauces and a rich, unique edamame purée! Service was excellent as well!
A just sweet custard bite was complimentary finish. oh and a buttery asparagus soup cup the amuse-​bouche!

AAA+, the wine superb, the food exquisite and the service impeccable. We had a rib-​eye, trout, a fillet and the pork loin. All the entrees were well prepared and above reproach. However, do not bring your «beer» pocketbook, it is $$$ as stated in other reviews. I would recommend the Le Château for a grand night out!

This restaurant provides you with a great atmosphere, lovely service and a meal that is crafted with effort that you can taste. If you are looking for fast service, don’t come here because the La Château wants you to have not only a great meal but an elegant experience as well.

Been there many times, always impressed. I had the filet with foie gras, She had the trout with edamame purée. Both were terrific. Dining at a high level. You will not be disappointed Great experience.

Who knew, great French food in La Cross? Awesome vision to takeover a old mansion and make it into a superb restaurant. Get the escargot. AWESOME. Talk with Eva, take your time and don’t rush it. Enjoy the place and walk around and check out the historic décor. Great wine recommendations.

I had a really good overall dining experience you’ll need to allow at least a couple hours for dinner. Everyone was happy with the way their entrée was prepared and the taste the portions are a bit small but that’s expected. Also as expected it’s probably more of just a special occasion kind of place.

My wife and I recently went there for our 9^th wedding anniversary and the night was near perfect. Our server was incredibly friendly and the food really was top notch. Worth every penny.
My only complaint and why I didn’t give 5 stars was the pace of the meal. We would have loved to enjoy dessert but by the time it came around we had already been there for over 90 minutes. Appetizers and meal shouldn’t be paced that far apart. If the service was tightened up a little, not rushed but just paced better, it would be perfect.

Most refined dinner in town. Service, food, and atmosphere are wonderful. It is our go to place when we want to sit for a French course meal dinner.

We have been to Le Château numerous times and have not had a single bite of food that was less than superb. From the wine list to the service to the entrees and desserts, this is an exceptional restaurant and we are lucky to have it in La Crosse.

Beautiful place serving incrediby deliscious food. By far the best place to go when in La Crosse or while on TDY at Ft. McCoy. Just be prepared to spend a little more than at a steak house though. With that, don’t hold out and go all the way from start to finish. Bön Appétit.

This place is amazing the atmosphere the food the wine the service! It was all wonderful! I would go as far to say the best food in Lacross. If you have not tried this place you are truly missing out.

Celebrated my wife’s birthday here. What a perfect place for a romantic evening. Plan on it being a couple hours to eat and enjoy the ambience. We had the escargo which was amazing. You must also try the creamy truffle potato. My wife had the blue crab which was great. I had the quail which I didn’t much care for but my wife loved it. The caramel custard was also wonderfull. We will be going back.

We had a wonderful dinner at Le Château. The food was absolutely delicious, the wine list was extensive yet approachable, and the ambiance was second to none. The owners have a very hands on approach to their restaurant and it shows. My husband and I have had the pleasure of dinning in many high end French restaurants and this was by far the best. We look forward to dinning here on our next visit to La Crosse. Try the escargot it’s incredible.

Wonderful! This is an authentic European dining experience! My fiancée and I have eaten here several times and have enjoyed tasting some of the seasonal changes in the menu. The service is top notch. For those who say it’s slow, they must not understand that the staff is giving them time to appreciate the nuances of a sophisticated meal, allowing you to take the time to enjoy the extensively detailed atmosphere, good company and conversation, and truly excellent food!
Since tasting some of the delicious menu items, I have become more adventurous with my choices. My trust in the chef has been well rewarded with a new found love of lamb and cinnamon, a cappuccino of mushroom and truffle oil, ratatouille, and many more.

Great food made by a master chef. Just had their Magret de canard aux cranberries, pommes sautées, and it was really succulent. Seared duck on a bed of vegtables, squash, potatoes, mixed with nuts and spices.
